Sunday lunch at dosa hut was so fulfilling . Had the vegetarian thali with filter coffee . Enjoyed the quick service

My family and I are regulars now. The service is incredible and they always go above and beyond for my children. I love that they have vegan options. The flavor is always on point. I love their spinach curry and their lentils. The samosas are big and a good portion. Everything I've had here has been amazing. I recommend everyone here. Parking on site is a plus.

I got these 3 items from them and they were so delicious!!

Updated review: Tofu pulav and the Samosa Chat are perfection. So many amazing flavors going on at once. the Tofu Pulav is a delicious Fluffy yellow rice with tofu a cubes of seasoned potatoes. The chili paratha is spicy!!! My one piece of feedback is to ask the restaurant to label which food is what in their containers.

Chetti pondicherry dosa, and malgudi rava masala

Was driving up from NY to MA, and glad we found this spot! My partner and I got a chetti pondicherry dosa, malgudi rava masala, and chikku shake - TASTE: 4/5 - both dosas hit the spot. Enjoyed the potato masala in the chetti pondicherry dosa and the cheese in the malgudi rava masala, plus the chutneys that came w both. Never had chikku, or zapota, before but loved the subtle sweetness of the shake! TEXTURE: 5/5 - both dosas were perfectly thin and crisp. Great bites every time PRICE: 4/5 - our total came out to $44.89 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - we were also initially going to get a paneer tikka masala too, but our waitress advised us that our dosas would be enough lol, which was accurate SERVICE: 4/5 - Dosa Hut was almost full when we walked in at ~3pm on a Tuesday, though I imagine partly because of the downpour of rain at the time. Glad there was still a table for two for us! Our food came out 15-20min after ordering ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - a bright, busy, and medium-sized space PARKING: 5/5 - plenty of parking in this plaza

The service was great, the vibes felt very authentic Indian and there were plenty of seatings. We observed families coming out and all enjoying dosa for dinner. This time we decided to be a bit adventurous and try things out of the traditional dosa and it didn't live up to the flavors. The pakoras were great and the salt lassi was refreshing. The bullet dosa, I believe was okay, wasn't as exciting to eat and the condiments on the side were bland and bitter. The uttapam was tasty in its own and so was the potato mashed bhaji. The other thing is the dishes come out piping hot one at a time and we had to wait a few minutes for it to cool down. The pani poori was interesting but the flavors just weren't meeting expectations.

I'm a big fan of this little Indian Restaurant specializing in both Southern and Northern Indian dishes. As the name conveys, there are numerous types of Dosa's on the menu; Indian Chat served cold, a variety of hot appetizers as well as $10:95 luncheon specials and a bevy of main dish. My Mulligatawny Soup was quite different than I've had in the past, it was solid and full of flavor; my wife's sambar was likewise an excellent choice with a nice spice note. I am anxious to return and explore other selections on their rather extensive menu. Service was professional, yet friendly, courteous and efficient. We couldn't have been happier with our dining experience.

My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch. Their lunch special was more than enough food and we ordered and appetizer. Food was left on our plate after we were completely full. Our meals included: Channa Masala, Palak Paneer, Dosa, Idly, Vada and a sweet treat. Would fully recommend. Great good!

We have visited here twice, we aren't locals but we were passing by the first time and came across this place, and WHAT A HiT! Since we live in Jersey, we have been raving to come back to this place for 1 dish and 1 dish only. Their MUST TRY THEIR MALGUDI DOSA (I prefer the cheese - but it's ofc available without) . Aside from this dosa, we have tried their mango lassi and chikko shake which were good as well. We recently visited them after a 2 years gap. But the taste is as amazing and delicious. Please do try them out if you're in the area, we would definitely be regulars if we were nearby. Happy eating!

Although the food was quite delicious, the service was quite lacking. We were the first to arrive as it's only been minutes from them opening for the day. We were told we can sit anywhere and that seemed convenient. Right off, we were told that the first order, we couldn't get rice bowls or fried rice. Also that they didn't have any fried chicken. There was no context or further explanation. I was left to think that 1... since we're only a party of two, we were restricted on what we could order. Perhaps they are trying to place minimums on the total check which was fair. It's better to explicitly say that and 2... since we are technically the first check of the day. In any case, so much confusion there. There was no language barrier to be had since our server was Caucasian and the other server there spoke English very well. We ordered a few appetizers that were all delicious as well as bulgogi and japchae. Apart from those, we didn't see our server at all besides the time we placed the order, when the dishes were served and when we asked for the check. I read somewhere that side dishes and tea were provided on the house, didn't happen. Even though the dishes were great, I won't recommend to dine inside. Best take it to go and save yourself the service.

The veggie rolls were unremarkable (as most are) but the peanut sauce that came with them was quite tasty. The portion size of the pad thai noodles was enormous. The tofu was well flavoured and moist. The noodles themselves were a bit bland and needed more of a kick (something that one could accomplish with the Sriracha on the table). The eggplant dish was full of veggies, which I appreciated greatly, but was overly oily and underflavored. The rice that came with the stir fry was perfectly cooked. The ambiance was lovely, replete with "lush" vegetation and some bamboo ornaments. The restroom was also clean and well-maintained, sadly uncommon in this part of New England. Service was good. The waitress was pleasant and the food came out quite quickly. Overall, it is highly unlikely that I will return, because there are certainly better restaurants if one were to travel a bit further to Middletown. This is however a good option in the Rocky Hill area.

This visit we ordered chicken satay as an appetizer. It came out piping hot, super juicy, and flavorful! Their marinade is just sooo delicious it barely needs any extra sauce. I decided to get Pad Thai for a change because I'm usually a curry or stirfry girlie. It was an enormous portion of delicious noodles! I thought the sweet, salty, sour flavors were really well balanced. My husband had the Veggie Delight stir fry with chicken. It was a perfect simple stirfry with a delicate but flavorful sauce and tons of tender crisp vegetables. Our waitress was super sweet and it's a great casual atmosphere. Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

We recently moved closer and I decided to try it for a work at home lunch day. I did no research before going. It turns out that Himalaya does not presently have a dine in option, which is fine because I live nearby. I walked in to look at the menu and order. I'm not sure if the person who helped me was having an off day, or maybe he's used to regular customers ordering ahead and didn't like having to change his routine, but he was not particularly welcoming. No smile or friendly greeting. I'm fairly sure that he rolled his eyes when I went to pay with cash. I don't know who this person was relative to the restaurant, but it didn't set a good tone. I ordered from the Lunch Specials. I ordered the Chicken Saag special which came with Basmati Rice and Naan. I don't remember the exact cost, but I remember being surprised at how inexpensive it was. Everything on the Lunch Special menu was inexpensive relative to places I frequent. I was told that it would be 10 minutes. I returned around 15 minutes later and my order was ready. All of the food was at least OK to pretty good, but didn't really pop for me. I'm much more familiar with Indian restaurants than I am with Nepalese and Himalayan restaurants, but some of the dishes share names. I'm not sure if there are seasoning and other variations in Indian versus Nepalese cuisine, or if any variations are more based upon the chefs cooking the meals. In any event, Himalaya's version of both the Saag and the chicken in the Saag were different than I'm used to. I prefer the way the Saag is seasoned in my favorite Indian places in CT. I feel like the chicken in most Indian restaurants is kebab style and is cooked in a tandoori oven. Himalaya's chicken had a rougher texture and seemed like it was perhaps roasted. It was pretty good, but probably my least favorite Saag dish I've had in a while. The Basmati rice was fine. The naan was OK. The texture and flavor didn't measure up to my favorite Indian restaurants. I have multiple nearby Indian restaurants that I prefer to Himalaya. In light of that and my less than positive service experience, I'm unlikely to return to Himalaya. However, given Himalaya's strong overall rating, it's clear that others have had good experiences and maybe you'll have better luck than I did. And as I said, the lunch specials are a good value. 3 Stars
