The menu offers a very broad list of Regional Indian Cuisine. Lamb, goat, chicken, seafood, variety of basmati rices and biryani, vegetarian dishes, dosa, tandoori, curries, Indo Chinese, a dozen different types of naan and kulchas. The four stars are for the food only. We tried the cilantro, chicken soup and the onion PAKODA, fritters, which were outstanding, the Indo Chinese vegetable fried rice was excellent, Kodi vapudu very spicy dry rub with green chilies. It was a bit different than I've had before with the addition of cashews and dark meat instead of white meat, but it was spicy and good. Ambiance is basic with fun Bollywood movies and music in the background and on the TV, clean and organized. But apparently they do a ton of takeout rather than dine in. The service was by the the owner who was incredibly friendly, very hospitable, enthusiastic about the regional cuisine and very knowledgeable about all of the dishes and their preparation.

I haven't been in a couple years and we were very happy to see same wonderful people. Believe it or not, the food was even better than it used to be, and it was always good. Tonight we had tikka masala, lamb Saag , garlic, naan, and vegetable Samosa. The mango lassi is always tasty as well. Everything was perfect tonight. The garlic naan is some of the best around. They use a really hot oven that gives it a wonderful crisp. If you like Indian cuisine, you will love this place. I don't mind paying for excellent food service. I wasn't thrilled but decided to give them another chance. This time dine-in. Service was good, food was decent, but I thought the prices on the menu were a bit high for a small place with minimum ambiance in a strip mall in Vernon. What really shocked me was that the prices on my bill were not the same as the prices on the menu. Entrees were $1.50 more and sides were $1.00 higher. No mention of it on the menu, by the server, or posted anywhere in the restaurant. Not huge differences - 6 to 15% increases, but I feel a bit ripped off to be shown one price and charged another. I know the restaurant reserves the right to change prices at any time without notice. I reserve the right to go somewhere else.

I set my things down and went straight to the buffet and tried everything except the fish curry. I must say I'm not the biggest mutton fan but theirs had to be the best I've ever had. Their butter chicken, which is usually my favorite, was good but the sweetest I've had as well as the paneer. All in all, this has been the best Indian buffet I've been to those far. They had more options than any other buffet I've been too and their service is impeccable. My cup was NEVER empty of water, the attentiveness was truly amazing. I use a lot of napkins and they took notice and made sure to give me extra. Everyone here was so polite and the service is some of the best I've ever had anywhere; not to mention, the lunch buffet is everyday and it's only 17 dollars. You can't beat it and I will definitely come back. I ended my experience with dessert of course and their take on what I would call a sort of rice pudding/soup was so good. I ordered chai (delicious even without sugar) which took 10 minutes to arrive because they make it fresh. I would recommend this please to anyone who likes Indian cuisine.

But if you can deal with some comforts being absent (nice lighting, cool building, impeccable design), then you are likely in for a good meal. I came for the spring dosa. Dosa are crepe-like South Indian creations that I find best when they are thin, long and crispy. So the ones at Naatiya were a touch thicker than I like, definitely gigantic, and mostly crispy around the edges. However, I should note the thickness was important because Naatiya generally stuffs their dosas as compared to any other Indian restaurant I've been to in the United States. Frankly, they were even more stuffed than the ones I've eaten at home. What is in the stuffing of a spring dosa? Well, I hope you love potatoes because that is going to be the main answer. These potatoes are stir fried in a slightly spicy masala and paired with onions and tomatoes. It's a little more involved than your standard masala dosa. What comes with your dosa? In this case, you get two small sides of coconut chutney and tomato chutney. I would have been thrilled with an extra side of the coconut chutney but didn't ask. Also, you get a bowl of sambar which I think is best described as a traditional spicy vegetable curry prominently featuring Indian cucumber. It's great and I usually pair it with idli (which is also on the menu at Naatiya). I didn't ask for a side of gunpowder (a ground mix of various spices and beans) that I usually use for dosa because I saw that was an entirely different order at Naatiya. That said, I'll probably see if they are willing to provide some of it on a future order as it really adds an entirely new dimension to the dosa experience. TL:DR - you can get dosa here and it's great. Go for casual Indian food.
