We were hungry and decided to try out a different Indian restaurant than we normally visit for lunch one day. Ambience is key. With that said, the ambience of the environment was stellar. I just wish I could say the same about the quality of the food. However, the service was quick and staff was more than friendly. Another note is that their bathroom is not actually inside the restaurant. It's a short walk outside the restaurant, located adjacent to the other professional business offices. Had a date who wanted to go to the restaurant as she loves the food. I like Indian food and love to try new places and new dishes. The waiter seemed very rushed, even though the restaurant was empty. He spoke in a very thick and hard-to-understand accent. I had never been to this restaurant and had questions and he didn't explain or answer my questions well. I ordered the dish but really didn't fully understand what he was telling me about it. We started with an order of Samosa, and that was delicious. It was just two pieces and I would have expected 4 pieces. But it was okay as our plain naan and garlic naan appeared a few minutes later. Then our dishes came out. My date got the Chicken Saagwala. I tasted it and it was good and flavorful. I got a dish that was seafood with a variety of small plate dishes. I know that there was shrimp tikka masala, fish curry, spinach with chickpeas, chickpeas in a cream sauce, a potato dish, some fried fish and shrimp, salad, cucumber raita, and dessert, with rice. It was good, but I didn't know what each of the items was and the waiter didn't explain it well. It was good, different, probably not what I would get again, but I enjoyed it well enough just too full for a rice pudding dessert. I got it mildly spicy as my body doesn't tolerate spice well, even though I enjoy it! I would definitely come back, but I would research the menu on my own before coming in to determine what I wanted. Frankly, the waiters need to slow down and speak clearer to give the diners some clarity when they ask questions about the menu. I'll probably get something a little safer and smaller so that I have room for dessert. I also want to try some of the other naan flavors. Recommend you giving this place a try!! read more

One of the best Indian Buffets I've ever had in USA. I was here on Sat around 2PM, Jan 4, 2020. There were not a lot of people when I visited. Here are my reasons for 5 stars review: 1. The price is very reasonable $12.95 and there are more food selections I could ever imagine. (See photos) 2. The staffs and services are excellent. Staffs took some time to tell me about Dosa and what you should eat it with, etc. Some of them are very friendly, greeted you with the smile. They also treated me with respect by saying sir, etc. 3. The food were pretty decent. They actually made Dosa (kind of like an Indian Crepe) right on the spot for you. 4. Most important thing: I saw the owner and it seems like she really cares about the food and making sure that all of her guests will have a good time or learn something about eating Indian food. She walked around making sure that they were plenty of food and do a small talk with guests who were friendly, etc. 5. I love the background of Indian Bollywood Movies and music, it made me feel like I was in another world for a moment. Overall, I literally thought I was in some kind of Michelin star restaurant because of just the amazing service and hospitality of this place. Will definitely come back and recommend my friends and loved ones to this place. In fact, I like it so much that I asked the owner to allow me to take these photos and share it on the Internet. Really good food. My crew of around 7 showed up right when it opened. Idk if they were ready for us lol. But once we were seated and ordered the drinks and food came very quickly. The restaurant itself was very cool looking and spacious and our server was great. Let me start off by saying, I ordered the butter chicken. Unfortunately the sauce tasted like tomato paste with some milk mixed together. It was horrible. It also had no spice at all like actual authentic butter chicken should have. For the chicken, in the description for butter chicken on their website it says Boneless chicken breast but it actually came with boneless chicken strips which looked like they were frozen. Yes! My brother suggested we go here as he had went in the past and enjoyed it. I thought it was great! The only thing that was not great was the service. It was extremely slow. I'm talking 15 minutes until a waiter came over to us slow. Also I ordered a cocktail at around 8:30pm but the bartender had gone home for the night so I was only offered beer/wine. So that's a little weird... I had the "Avadhi Chicken Korma" - hot - which I loved. Spice was great. I also tried the Lamb Vindaloo - also hot - which was equally good. I really, really wanted to like this place more. It has a stellar, comprehensive menu with indo-chinese inspired dishes and appetizing descriptions, and is fairly priced. I am afraid I have to give it three stars, though, for a couple of reasons. For one - the service was very bizarre / awful. I'm usually not a picky person when it comes to this stuff, but my gf and I twice were looking at each other saying "what the heck is going on here..." 1) The server said "and the wine and beer menu is this small menu" when it was sitting on the table, and I said "ok, thank you" but we weren't intending to order drinks so I turned back down to the food menu. And then he went all the way around the table, grabbed the drinks menu, and opened it and put it over the food menu. Was a very bizarre way to push drinks... 2) We asked "what items were in the appetizer sampler (the menu says an assortment of vegetarian appetizers)", and I kid you not, he responded with "uhhhhh... it's just an assortment of things". I mean -- yes -- but.... So we said... would you mind checking for us, and he looks again... and he was like "I think it's X, Y, and Z".. basically taking a guess instead of asking someone? Service aside, we ordered the appetizer sampler, the non-veg thali, and the tomato soup, in order to maximize variety. The tomato soup was my favorite dish - it was an indo-chinese spin on tomato soup. Nice and garlicky and flavorful. The chicken tikka masala was ok but a bit mild and left something to be desired. I've had better at other restaurants, like Rasika or Urban Tandoor. The saag paneer was ok. The daal from the thali was pretty good and the aloo tikki was great. I'd consider going back to try a few other items on the menu and lean more into the indo-chinese dishes, but I'm not sure it's going to be in the rotation until then. read more

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. My boyfriend got the Chicken Korma and I got the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both entrees tasted amazing! We also tried the samosas, garlic naan and then Rasmalai for dessert. It was great to see there was free parking behind the building for customers, although there was plenty of street parking when we went. Our server, Linda, was really nice and helpful as well. Update: Ok so I said I would never return but had a curiosity to since it's been a couple of years. I am very happy to say I gave Namaste another chance because dinner this past Saturday was delicious! Service was excellent too! They were very friendly not only with us but regularly stopping by to smile and talk to our baby. There was a smaller crowd this time but still a steady stream of people coming in. I loved the chile bullet naan! I still wish the portion size was more than one piece for $4.99 or $5.99. The taste, however, was spicy and flavorful. The texture of the bread was fluffy inside and crisp outside. My husband ordered the lamb madras spicy. He thinks they thought he said extra spicy because his was much spicier than my lamb vindaloo (which should never happen because 1. It's vindaloo and 2. I ordered it spicy.). We actually switched dishes half way because he couldn't handle the spice! After I finished the lamb madras, my lips and mouth were tingling for awhile after. The vindaloo was very flavorful but the lamb portion was smaller than the madras. I would have liked it to have more spice as well. The lamb was very tender in both dishes. I'm glad I gave Namaste a second chance because I definitely now plan on returning again. read more

As visitors from out of town, we did not have a very high expectation from a generic looking Indian/ South Asian restaurant such as the ones that the California Bay Area is filled with. But our doubts were put to rest by the exceptional food and great service. The thalis are excellent both in terms of quality and variety (we ordered the seafood and the Nepali thalis), and overall they came across as quite authentic as well. The Chicken Momos were equally delicious. The Butter Chicken did not meet expectations. The sauce was delightful, the chicken was not. The manager and staff warmly greeted me and provided recommendations. Friendly and fast service! Lots of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options! And even an "Indo-Chinese" section with spring rolls, chili vegetarian momos, vegetarian fried rice, vegetarian hakka chow mein and more. The medium spicy level was perfect for me, someone who loves a good kick but not TOO hot. Lots of dessert options available too! I got the vegetarian Thali lunch special. It came with Aloo Gobi, Paneer Makhni ( Tikka Masala), Samosa, small salad, Daal, rice, naan, raita, and a galub jamun for $10.95! You can't beat that! They also have non vegetarian Thali that I think is $11.95. Aloo Gobi was a bit bland as was the Daal imho, and the samosa was also a bit oily. The food overall was good. Quite frankly, I think the lunch Thali is a way better price point and value than their a la carte menu. I came in at about 1pm on a weekday, it was pretty dead but nice because I was able to eat and not be rushed. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is bc it was so hot in the restaurant or maybe it was bc it was hot and humid outside? Either way maybe cool down the restaurant a bit more? After much research, wifey and I feel confident this is the best Indian in Alexandria/surrounding area. It's been our go-to Indian place since they opened on King Street. The vibe inside is great, everything is really clean and it smells amazing. We usually do take out or delivery and it's always hot and fresh when it arrives. I definitely feel like it's reasonable for the price, esp since we usually end up with some leftovers (usually...). Some of our favs here are the butter chicken and goat/chicken vindaloo. I love spicy and this place gets me. I always tell them that I'd like it really spicy, but not spicy that will kill me. It's worked so far. They have a good (and delicious) variety of vegetarian dishes. We're locals so this place works particularly well for us, but its worth going a little out of your way for. read more

First time visitor to this Indian/Nepalese restaurant but have heard about it from several persons. The place is pretty big as is the extensive menu. They were out of Bhel Puri and gave us another appetizer which was really good. The chicken based entrees were served in decorative bowls, the portions of which were filling.
