So when I first came here several years ago, I had no idea they had omakase. Now since I've found out, I've come twice. They have an incredible rotating menu (I had different fish both times I went a month apart) at a very reasonable price. The chef also never skimps on the caviar when he uses it! He seems to take pride in the quality of the fish. I can't really afford omakase in bigger cities, so this is a real treat!

I came here in the fall with two girlfriends for a birthday dinner. We showed up late which was totally our bad but they still caught us up on all the dishes. We got wine and the glasses were quite full. The guy serving us was very knowledgeable. And the area was cute and intimate. Over all really great time for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend to others.

Nami is easily the most unique sushi experience in Richmond. The atmosphere, presentation, and attention to detail make it feel completely different from a typical sushi restaurant. Every dish was incredible and the upstairs seating makes the experience even better. Definitely make a reservation and ask to sit upstairs. It's worth it.

To my knowledge, this is the first omakase experience in Richmond and it's an incredible addition to the local food scene. I feel so lucky to have snagged a seat at the six-seat bar for what turned out to be a beautifully curate experience. The chef shared that they started offering omakase in January of this year. The fish is flown in from Japan, and the flavors, textures, and presentation of each course were just perfect for the 13-course format. If this hasn't made you jump to make a reservation for the Omakase experience, best of all, it's extremely reasonably priced for the quality you receive. We were surprised with a mochi at the end, a perfect and refreshing way to close out the experience. Cheers to chef Tao and staff for curating such a delicious meal and to Nami for bringing omakase to Richmond. I'll absolutely be back!

I looked up this location before my trip to Richmond for a conference. I was so excited, and I am delighted to say it completely exceeded my expectations. When I looked it up online I only searched for a sushi place, and I didn't get to look at the location until I saw it in person! I actually took a picture of it walking to the capital before I realized it was Nami!! Adorable location with an even better interior. Amazing mural work outside and killer food. I ordered A tequila cranberry (double) Miso soup Sashimi sampler Salmon roe ikuri 2 piece sashimi And a 15 piece sashimi entree. I expected to pay over $120 and was billed for 68. He comped my drink and I got to watch them make the sashimi! Super efficient service for two guys despite a busy restaurant. Literally melted in my mouth, octopus was prepared correctly and was delicious! Not chewy at all. Tuna and white tuna literally melted in my mouth. Additionally, I didn't consider myself a salmon fan when comparing it to what gets shipped to Michigan. I am in love! Such fatty cuts, I am so excited for next year when I can treat myself to nami again.

Such a cute vibe here--fresh sushi, super friendly service, and an overall chill experience. I was expecting bolder flavors, but listen, the freshness made up for it all. Everything felt really clean and frankly prepared. We tried the Golden Roll--if you're a mango person, this one's a must. Sweet, light, and summery. Perfectly refreshing for a hot day. The Alaska Roll-- a solid upgrade to a classic: simple, and tasty for the less adventurous. The Yellowtail Hand Roll-- loved it, but I typically prefer thin slices vs thick strips. Spider roll-- by far my fave; not fried too hard, great balance of roe & sweet eel sauce on top. Tamago nigiri--my least favorite - could tell it was pre-packaged egg rather than cooked fresh & fluffy. Aside from the tamago, everything here is as fresh as it looks in all the pictures that, no doubt, brought you to their door. I prefer cooking at lunch bc it's just music; typically there's music (think karaoke), tv, & chatter, so if you're easily over-stimulated, choose lunch.

Not the biggest sushi person in the world but this place surprised me. Ended up stepping out of my comfort zone and getting a kong roll which has bananas, mango , avocado, and mango sauce. It's a combination Ive personally never heard of so I wasn't sure how Id like it but it worked out so well and it really surprised me. Theres alot of cool rolls to try and the decor is anime themed which I personally loved so I definitely plan on coming back. Feels like Im more of a sushi fan now after this.

Dining: We started off with the classic miso soup. My partner ordered a glass of wine, and they were quite generous with the pour. For appetizers, we had the golden salmon (torched salmon topped with miso sauce) and tako su (sliced octopus with ponzu sauce). For our entree, we ordered the Love Boat, which included the chef's choice of 10 pieces of assorted sushi, 18 pieces of assorted sashimi, a bluefin tuna roll, and a rainbow roll. While everything was delicious, I wish there had been more variety in the sushi pieces, as it seemed the chef used the same pieces for both the sushi and sashimi. The service was fine and food came out relatively quickly. I love the decor of Omakase: We also had the opportunity to experience the omakase! It's amazing how you walk up the stairs and find a private dining area overlooking the entire restaurant, but still peaceful and intimate. Of course, reservations are required. We got to taste 13 dishes, plus dessert, for $85 per person. There was a great variety of pieces, each with its own unique flavor profile. My favorite was the scallop and uni combination.

I'm currently pregnant and can't eat raw fish but needed to satisfy my sushi craving. I can't wait to come back to be able to order more menu items/ try their omakase. They do have options for anyone not able to eat raw fish, I went for the Tokyo roll and spicy Kani roll. Both were very tasty and good meat to rice ratio. The inside of this place is so cute, I absolutely love the vibes. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Seriously can't wait to come back!

Walked in on a Friday evening. It was not that busy at 6PM. The interior was cute. Pictures/posters of anime characters are on the wall and huge Japanese lanterns hang. Our booth at the end was cozy. Our server Syra was nice. They have a selection of sake, wines, yoju, beer and soda. Tried the white peach-lychee yoju for the first time. It was tangy and fruity with a little bit of creaminess; I prefer the soju over this. Their sushi was good and fresh. Had the Rainbow roll, New York roll, OMG roll, Pink lady roll and Volcano roll. Not the best sushi I've had but would give it a 4/5. Would likely to come back.

I've been coming here for years, and the decline is obvious. The customer service is consistently rude and unprofessional. It genuinely feels like customers are an inconvenience rather than valued guests. There's no warmth, no courtesy, and no accountability. The portions have also gotten noticeably smaller and stingier over time. I paid for a vegetable side and received a container almost entirely filled with onions, with two pieces of broccoli. When I called to address it, I was dismissed and told they don't offer refunds or fixes because they were busy. Being busy is not an excuse to ignore a customer or refuse to correct a mistake. Good food cannot make up for consistently bad service and declining portions.

Great sushi restaurant located in downtown Richmond. The fish quality was good and there was no weird aftertaste that I usually taste with low quality sushi. The interior did kind of smell like an old building (not entirely sure how to describe it) but overall did not look dirty. Service was very quick and attentive.

Service was great, and we received our food within 30 min. The decor is so cute and anime-themed. My favorite part was the fried oysters, though one had an odd taste. The sushi was good, but not spectacular. I would definitely go back.

Never has such a delightful eatery been so aptly named! Trouvaille is a glorious find indeed! Mind you, if you read my reviews you will see I know a bit about good cocktails and better food! So context: I was completely blown away by this little tucked away spot on Lombardy Street in Richmond's glorious Fan neighborhood. To begin: Top shelf alcohol, merged into glorious soothing cocktails expertly blended and presented as swanky as any NYC or SF bar! If you like an expertly blended Manhattan this is the place. Next time the old fashioned or anything frankly on the menu! For dinner: I had the gnocchi with fresh spring peas in a light cream sauce with the kind of tender savory chicken one dreams of. The whole thing was an imaginative yet comforting fusion of Japanese-Italian-American comfort food. Think: deconstructed chicken pot pie! Hubby had the short ribs which melted in my mouth alongside a perfectly crispy yet tender Japanese inspired (Korean?) rice cake next to perfectly unctuous kimchi!! Just amazing! I traveled the world in every bite! Umami perfection. But I skipped telling you about the appetizer of fresh spring salad with arugula, burrata, and just fresh everything. The dressing was a tiny but overpowering but totally tolerable because of the perfect tang and balance of creaminess. So good and the serving was beyond generous! We ordered delicious Homemade... like a truly homemade fresh loaf of bread arrived with perfectly not-too-sweet strawberry (what?) butter!! And save room for dessert! The oh so thin crepe cake with uh-mazing strawberry sauce and sweet (not too) crème was just light and pleasing. Again I could feel/taste the Japanese influence And then! An on the house chocolate pot de crepe had me swooning! This with our Malbec wine was like heaven on earth. Finally? The bill. So freaking reasonable! We spared no expense and had a bottle of wine! Nothing but pleasure here. The bill was a pleasure to pay! And I love thoughtful decor! I am happy to report: The vibe is incredibly cool, too. Think Gothic-minimalism meets the gilded age. Such a glam space but not in the least bit intimidating. I am in LOVE! Don't miss this place. I see Michelin stars in Joe the Chef's future.
