Back entrance to the kitchen at the upper level. My table heats everything and it's totally busy

Amazing sushi and great ambiance. They have very nice servers. Great short pump gem. Make sure to see the specials board when you enter because they have great sushi not on the menu. They also have a great selection of sake. Try it, you'll be surprised

Another great experience. But I ordered too much. I wanted sushi and tempura. So I got both. Need I say I have a lot left over. I had to try the lobster tempura. I is delicious. Most of it is at home now. Because I had to have sushi as well. And I didn't order just some extra. No I had to have two dinners. But I'm only one person and one stomach. So a lot is at home with me now. Yes the food is good and I still recommend the place. Just don't go overboard as I just did. They give a different sauce with the tempura. It is good but I prefer the usual tempura sauce. So when we go back I'll stick with sushi. Service was excellent and she even helped me pack up my leftovers. I had a lot and was having difficulty packing it all up. The soup was delicious as was the salad that was included with the meal. The ambiance is pleasant. We sat in the bar area. My wheelchair rolled in easily. Food was fresh. So go and enjoy.

I LOVVEEEE the sushi i had here and it is definitely better than anything in Charlottesville and I am SO SAD that I can't eat here all the time... their sushi is so good!!! The inside is super comfortable and my boyfriend and I ordered some gyoza to start and it was DELISH! We knew we were in for a good night. He ordered some ramen and it was decent but their sushi is SO good! I ordered the Deadpool roll which was a tempura wrap with crab jalapeño tempura and i think yellowtail on top with a peppercorn sauce and oh my god it was amazing. I was so happy with it. The roll was HUGE and the portions were very well balanced. Each piece was about 2-3 bites so it was definitely filling. It was so good I ordered a Black Russian roll to go and had it when I got home from traveling all day and it was also amazing. The service was great and they were very accommodating of me adding on a Togo order. I would definitely be back. I saw people on the Richmond subreddit talking about this place and other reviews saying this is Richmond's best kept secret - I agree!! The sushi here is bomb. I will be back!

Hidden gem! The restaurant was fairly empty for a Friday night however, pick up orders were constantly going out the door. My sister and I went for a sister date night. We got the gyoza and calamari for appetizers. Not the best, something about the sauces were off. The calamari was salty and again, the sauce was a miss. Kind of tasted like steak sauce but not in a good way. For our mains, I got the dragonfly roll and it was really good! Fresh and flavorful. The presentation made it even more special. I am adding it to my list of things to get again. My sister got the shrimp tempura which is always a hit. We will definitely be back to try more.

This is our go to for sushi in Richmond. Some of the highlights for us include the smoking goat, the war eagle, and crab three-way.

While the sushi rolls were small, they were tasty. This sushi restaurant has turned over several times with owner after owner not sticking around. The quality of food from past owners was just okay, but Sushi Hibachi Bistro seems to be doing well. For takeout we ordered seaweed salad, ginger salad, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, the Boston roll, the Incredible, 288, and lots of veggie options, including a vegan roll. We even ordered a yellowtail roll. Everything was good but I thought the salmon roll was a little too fishy for me, which in my mind means the fish isn't super fresh. Anyway, I told my husband I'd like to go eat there and perhaps try some other items.

Many have already said it, but this is kind of one of those hidden gems. Never really busy inside, but definitely always busy for takeout and delivery service orders. This isn't like a fancy date night kinda place, but it's definitely a place for a great meal when not worried about the ambiance. It's a rather open place with the seating being right by the sushi bar and open to the entrance all in one view, and there is like another section of the restaurant behind that wall, but I think they only use it if busy/full it seems. Service is okay and pretty typical for what you get at most hibachi style restaurants, which is not personable but just checklist style. I'm okay with it though as long as it's attentive and my drink isn't empty, so no worries because this spot is intimate enough to be checked on and constantly see your server. Sushi here is fresh and delish. This time I ordered just a spider roll as an appetizer, but have had the pleasure of trying many different sushi options here before. Definitely a good choice to try something. I really like their hibachi, despite them not having a grill where you get the show and it's cooked in front of you. Honestly, sometimes (most times) I don't want the show and just want to eat lol so I actually like that I get my food in about 20 mins! The only things I wish they would change is to cut the veggies more and bring out yum yum and/or ginger sauce without having to ask for it. Either way food is great. I've also ordered takeout during lunch and prices are great and portions are decent. I always appreciate consistency between lunch and dinner and dine in vs takeout for a restaurant, and they are consistent regardless of how you dine. I like that it's kinda low key in the cut and never packed and pretty intimate for a quick hibachi or sushi dinner!

It was a Saturday night.. our twins wanted hibachi.. I was skeptical at first since we're from the Manhattan area and didn't think the sushi/hibachi in Richmond would be able to compare.. we were totally surprised and ecstatic at the quality and taste of the food here! The service was terrific.. extremely attentive without being annoying! Four of us had hibachi steak with shrimp or scallops.. delicious! The gyoza, shrimp tempura, and soup was super fresh and tasty. The others had sushi and sashimi .. again, super fresh and tasty! You could tell that the chef knew how to keep it simple and flavorful! We were a little apprehensive since we were the only diners in the restaurant at the time.. a bunch of people had come in to pick up takeout or door dash. Unless this place is super packed during lunchtime, it is the best secret in the Richmond area! We will most definitely be back again!

Love it. The atmosphere here is great. The bar and tables are made of wood, it's very quiet and zen tbh. The food is also very good. Lunch specials are reasonably priced. Service is quick. I definitely will be back

Sushi is fresh but overpriced. Pickup was uneventful but staff seems less than grateful for your patronage.

We walked in not expecting much, and we were amazed at the speed and efficiency of the staff. This place seems like a happening place for the night crowd, lots of young men and women congregating at the bar. Our server was shy and quiet, but she was quick and efficient at her job. We ordered the Thai Iced Tea (quite literally the best I have ever had in my life) and the Drunken Noodles. I am a pad kee mao aficionado, and theirs were fantastic. The atmosphere was interesting, eclectic if I had to sum it up in a word. There were multiple seating genres, if that makes sense. We sat at the small four-top in the lower area, and the view of the whole restaurant was great for people watching if you're into that sort of thing. We came here with no expectations, and we were blown away. What a hidden gem; we certainly got our money's worth. Whole-hearted recommendation from both of us. Recently, while driving down Main Street, we noticed there will soon be a new location downtown as well, so we've got that to look forward to.

Came on a very busy evening. Was still seated immediately and drink orders were taken soon after…read more If you're looking for a quiet spot, this place gets LOUD when fully seated so don't expect to hold a long conversation. Appetizers are sized for sharing. The papaya salad at a 2 spice was closer to medium. The vegetable gyoza should be skipped if you want it steamed (flavorless and rather lifeless that way, so opt for fried). Main dishes were quite large and we both doggie bagged our entrees. If you're a picky eater they have the old standbys but if you want to try something new, the menu is large. Parking is easy. Seating is both inside and out. Food all tasted fresh. I'd go back and get a more adventurous main.
