Great dinner spot for sushi and Japanese dishes. I would recommend to make reservations especially on a weekend night. It is also a loud environment. The door/ entryway is very narrow and awkward. We also noted lots of take out orders which is a good idea for next time. We started with the Mt. Fuji Shrimp as an appetizer and it was so crispy and delicious that we inhaled it. I had the Geisha roll and Sweet Potato roll and both were delightful. I also started with the Elder 75 cocktail which was surprisingly strong and very tasty. I would return!

Atmosphere and service is great. Decorates were nice, great mood lighting, and staff was super friendly. Hot tea and spicy dumplings were good. Starburst was good too but it was missing something. My boyfriend and I think a little cream cheese would've complimented it well. Overall I think the speciality rolls have cool and different stuff on them but they're not authentic tasting, they're more for show. There are better places for sushi with better rolls that also look cool and have different stuff on them. And then there's the 10th anniversary roll. Not good. They crammed way too much stuff on it and it didn't go together. The jalapeño sauce was sweet for some reason and gave off a weird smell. The fish also might've been bad? Couldn't really tell between all the random stuff crammed in it and the weird smell might've been from the sauce. Just from this I had to score it lower but the overall vibes and people were good and other menu items were good. Avoid that 10th anniversary roll, though. And overall this place isn't authentic sushi. It's different and can be enjoyed better by people who don't eat a lot of sushi but if you have had a lot of good sushi in your life and know what you like and what's good, stick to what you know. Authentic is always better.

Great sushi and sashimi! Recommended by a friend so I decided to come here for dinner on a weekday and it was popping! Little did I know that they have secret menu items!! They already have a good and wide selection of traditional and fusion rolls, but you can also order the off menu items directly. The one I tried is the "superman roll" with spicy tuna and cream cheese, which I really enjoyed and would recommend!! We also got the dragon roll which was your classic avocado and eel combo. The eel wasn't as fresh/chunky as I hoped but it was still a decent sushi roll. The sashimi combo was pretty solid with fresh fish and miso soup/salad appetizers. Overall had a great time and with great service!!

Amazing and perfect! The best fillet I've ever had. I'm literally addicted to this place . The wonton mashed potatoes taste like they were hand crafted by the gods. I could eat here every single night and it wouldn't be enough. GREAT value

Amazing sushi! The roll with the goat cheese is my absolute favorite in RCH. The Cubbies and the Friday rolls are perfection!

Never has such a delightful eatery been so aptly named! Trouvaille is a glorious find indeed! Mind you, if you read my reviews you will see I know a bit about good cocktails and better food! So context: I was completely blown away by this little tucked away spot on Lombardy Street in Richmond's glorious Fan neighborhood. To begin: Top shelf alcohol, merged into glorious soothing cocktails expertly blended and presented as swanky as any NYC or SF bar! If you like an expertly blended Manhattan this is the place. Next time the old fashioned or anything frankly on the menu! For dinner: I had the gnocchi with fresh spring peas in a light cream sauce with the kind of tender savory chicken one dreams of. The whole thing was an imaginative yet comforting fusion of Japanese-Italian-American comfort food. Think: deconstructed chicken pot pie! Hubby had the short ribs which melted in my mouth alongside a perfectly crispy yet tender Japanese inspired (Korean?) rice cake next to perfectly unctuous kimchi!! Just amazing! I traveled the world in every bite! Umami perfection. But I skipped telling you about the appetizer of fresh spring salad with arugula, burrata, and just fresh everything. The dressing was a tiny but overpowering but totally tolerable because of the perfect tang and balance of creaminess. So good and the serving was beyond generous! We ordered delicious Homemade... like a truly homemade fresh loaf of bread arrived with perfectly not-too-sweet strawberry (what?) butter!! And save room for dessert! The oh so thin crepe cake with uh-mazing strawberry sauce and sweet (not too) crème was just light and pleasing. Again I could feel/taste the Japanese influence And then! An on the house chocolate pot de crepe had me swooning! This with our Malbec wine was like heaven on earth. Finally? The bill. So freaking reasonable! We spared no expense and had a bottle of wine! Nothing but pleasure here. The bill was a pleasure to pay! And I love thoughtful decor! I am happy to report: The vibe is incredibly cool, too. Think Gothic-minimalism meets the gilded age. Such a glam space but not in the least bit intimidating. I am in LOVE! Don't miss this place. I see Michelin stars in Joe the Chef's future. Mr. James Beard get to Trouvaille if you want to see the best of Richmond! You will not be disappointed.! We will be back for sure. Hope to see you there!
