    6pc assorted sushi and sashimi

On a lovely day in May (5/30/25), we purposely made our way to Kyoto. Their menu had been on my fridge for some time. After our workout at the gym, we headed to the Courthouse Crossing shopping center on Busy St. The main streets are Courthouse and Midlo. The interior is absolutely lovely (read that with a British accent), and I told my son he should dress nicely and bring his girlfriend here for a dinner date. The place was empty, and I was honestly shocked. The server was extremely sweet and took our orders promptly. My wife is a sucker for bento boxes, and I could eat sushi every single day of my life. Wifey-pooh got a small bowl of miso soup, and since I had miso envy, I ordered my own bowl--it was delicious. The food arrived promptly and was ridiculously photogenic. I snapped a quick pic and proceeded to devour my plate of sushi. The salmon melted in my mouth, and the sashimi was equally delicious. Sarah asked me if it was better than Wegmans, and I emphatically nodded yes. The California rolls were also pleasant, topped with little orange micro roe. The Queen enjoyed her bento box, and we were both delighted with our experience at Kyoto. I'm already looking forward to our next visit.

My fiancé, neighbor, and I were looking to escape Richmond City's water shortage by venturing out for some dinner. I had just learned about this new Japanese restaurant and was super excited to suggest it to the group. We went around 5:45pm on a Tuesday. We were seated immediately. There is plenty of seating at this spot and it looks like a good spot to take a bigger group. The host/waitress was extremely kind. We ordered the chicken hibachi and the love boat to share. The miso soup and salad that came out before were pretty nice. The chicken hibachi was a bit drier than I would've liked. The veggies on the side were really nice. We loved the love boat. This sushi boat will look incredible in all of your Yelp photos. The love boat comes with the chef's choice of a special roll, a tuna roll, a salmon avocado roll, nigiri and sashimi. It's a lot of food. It was my first time ordering a sushi boat (a long time dream of mine since playing with a Bratz doll conveyor belt toy LOL). They did an amazing job with the presentation. They gain an extra star for how friendly they were here! We had a great time at Kyoto Sushi.

Great service. Food came out very fast and was delicious. Sushi was fresh. We had the Spicy Crunchy Scallop Roll and it did not disappoint. The Shrimp Yaki Soba was very tasty with a good amount of shrimp and vegetables.

Did you know "Trouvaille" in French means "find?" And not just "find," in the everyday use, but to…read morefind as if you are so fortunate! Well! Never has such a delightful eatery been so aptly named! Trouvaille is a glorious find indeed! Mind you, if you read my reviews you will see I know a bit about good cocktails and better food! So context: I was completely blown away by this little tucked away spot on Lombardy Street in Richmond's glorious Fan neighborhood. To begin: Top shelf alcohol, merged into glorious soothing cocktails expertly blended and presented as swanky as any NYC or SF bar! If you like an expertly blended Manhattan this is the place. Next time the old fashioned or anything frankly on the menu! For dinner: I had the gnocchi with fresh spring peas in a light cream sauce with the kind of tender savory chicken one dreams of. The whole thing was an imaginative yet comforting fusion of Japanese-Italian-American comfort food. Think: deconstructed chicken pot pie! Hubby had the short ribs which melted in my mouth alongside a perfectly crispy yet tender Japanese inspired (Korean?) rice cake next to perfectly unctuous kimchi!! Just amazing! I traveled the world in every bite! Umami perfection. But I skipped telling you about the appetizer of fresh spring salad with arugula, burrata, and just fresh everything. The dressing was a tiny but overpowering but totally tolerable because of the perfect tang and balance of creaminess. So good and the serving was beyond generous! We ordered delicious Homemade... like a truly homemade fresh loaf of bread arrived with perfectly not-too-sweet strawberry (what?) butter!! And save room for dessert! The oh so thin crepe cake with uh-mazing strawberry sauce and sweet (not too) crème was just light and pleasing. Again I could feel/taste the Japanese influence And then! An on the house chocolate pot de crepe had me swooning! This with our Malbec wine was like heaven on earth. Finally? The bill. So freaking reasonable! We spared no expense and had a bottle of wine! Nothing but pleasure here. The bill was a pleasure to pay! And I love thoughtful decor! I am happy to report: The vibe is incredibly cool, too. Think Gothic-minimalism meets the gilded age. Such a glam space but not in the least bit intimidating. I am in LOVE! Don't miss this place. I see Michelin stars in Joe the Chef's future. Mr. James Beard get to Trouvaille if you want to see the best of Richmond! You will not be disappointed.! We will be back for sure. Hope to see you there!

We started off with some fried tofu (not pictured) and followed up with two specialty rolls. For two people, this was plenty to fill us up. The Monster roll is pretty filling with its size, tuna, and a piece of tempura. The roll on the left (forgot the name), was a nice balance to the heavier Monster roll. I thoroughly enjoyed the specialty rolls! Service was great! We were running behind our reservation time and I called to let them know. We still got our table when we arrived! They told us about the happy hour and we got some drinks and an appetizer. Water was always refilled. Ambiance is low key. Great for catching up with friends and families. Bathrooms had cool, neon lighting like you're at the club. Would definitely come back (which I did)!

Yume Roll and Jeff roll on bogo. They were actually a bit smaller than I expected. I ate all 4 rolls in one sitting. Some of the roll pieces were kind of thin but it was worth it with the bogo deal. Still pretty good flavor. I liked the Jeff roll with tuna, it seemed like a pretty thin topping and had a nice little kick from the jalapeño. The Yume roll had good flavor but it felt like the filling with the crunch was a lot of the filling which made it a little bland, nice crunch and simple flavors.
