I left this restaurant feeling disappointed, not because of the food, but because of what I witnessed. During my visit, I observed the owner, Billy, and the lead server, Michelle, speaking to employees in a way that I found disrespectful and unprofessional. The atmosphere became uncomfortable, and it was obvious something was wrong. Afterward, I asked one of the servers if they were okay because I was genuinely concerned by what I had witnessed. Their response only reinforced my impression that the work environment was not a positive one. As a customer, I believe employees deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Watching management interact with staff this way left a lasting negative impression and affected my overall experience. Incredibly long wait for Friday dinner. There are tables coming and going and we waited over 30 minutes and still dont have our food. There was no updates or anything about our food. If I knew the wait was this long, I would have went somewhere else. Not sure if its just mismanagement or they forgot our order. The sushi and fish here are good. Its a little pricy. The wait time definitely ruins it. You can find similar quality rolls and fish at other sushi joints in the area minus the incredibly long wait. Highly recommend going somewhere else unless you have all the time and patience in the world to sit still and wait. Do not come here if you are hungry or on a time crunch. It's just a short walk from our place, and every single time we go, Billy Jack and the whole team make us feel incredibly welcome. They are honestly some of the most hospitable people you'll ever meet. Brian and Santos are always a pleasure to see, and the service is consistently friendly, warm, and attentive. The food is amazing every single time. We love the amberjack and the black snapper, and every roll we've tried has been great. You can really tell they care about quality and consistency. First, I want to say that I have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. Until today, this was my favorite of all sushi spots. Today, I went in with my daughter and my niece and my daughter sat down and was stung by a bee. The waiter acted like he couldn't care less. We asked for an ice pack and he comes back reporting that he is unable to supply that and says he can bring ice. Several minutes go by and still nothing. The sushi chefs are quietly chatting among themselves and nobody asks if they can help or bring anything. I am simply disgusted and disappointed at the lack of consideration or care. Last year i came here with friends for lunch and since then i've started coming on date nights with husband. We don't tell our kids and we sneak off for a nice sushi meal. We would usually go to Hikari for family sushi night but this is more of when it's just the 2 of us for a quiet meal. Love the bento boxes. On Friday nights I love coming here. It's not too busy where you can't get a table or seat right away. Seriously, the food is fresh and fabulous. It's really hard for us to pick. The salmon sushi is so fresh. It melts in your mouth like like butter. Please try the special yellow tail sushi. That extra special love brings it over the top. And I will always love unagi sushi. Sooo goood! We love the special rolls too. It's always hard to choose. We've had the Mexican roll, Jin Roll, Jenny Roll, etc. Sorry. I can barely remember what every roll is, but I haven't been disappointed yet. The staff is very attentive and helpful. We couldn't pick our rolls and our server helped with suggestions. They are really good about taking dishes away once you are finished too. Normally, we leave spending around $50 each with tax and tip, but we leave so full that I need a wheelbarrel to be wheeled out. By 7:50 PM, nearly an hour later, we were still waiting. The staff didn't show any sense of urgency -- one employee was literally walking around without a care in the world while we stood around wondering when our food would be ready. We had already paid, so we were stuck waiting far longer than expected. No updates, no apologies, just an indifferent attitude. It really felt like they had no respect for our time. I went to Honshu Sushi today for lunch, as I was in the area for a business trip. My coworker and I were not familiar with Chatsworth, so we went purely on Yelp reviews. Once again, my fellow Yelpers came through. This place was great! I ordered the $19 Honshu Sushi lunch, which came with an edamame appetizer, 6 pieces of sushi, and one whole roll! There were 3 choices for rolls, and I went with the dragon roll. The fish was super fresh. Every piece was crafted with some kind of topping, either tobiko, green onion or thinly sliced picked onions. So it wasn't just the ole piece of fish on rice. The rainbow roll is where I think they really stood out. I still can't tell if I was imagining things, but I could have sworn the roll was made of real crab meat and not imitation crab! Our server was super friendly, attentive, and even the other gentleman helping her out was polite and so nice. Get this--they even have a robot server! Too bad it wasn't operational when we went. I would have loved to get my food served by a robot. A sign of the times, I guess. So funny thing, we came here for the sushi and got the Heart Attack roll and it was just okay. A little grainy and not as fresh as I would prefer. There were lunch special though and I got the two item combo with beef ribs and Japanese dumplings and they were incredible. My meal also came with miso soup (way too salty) and edamame (which were good). I also got a small salad with a yummy dressing, a bowl of white rice, and a couple of other fun items like a pickled cucumber garnish and a wedge of orange. My husband got the undon soup which he said was delicious. He also got the tempura shrimp and California roll and he said they were just okay. The other disappointment was that they only have a can soda so when you run out, there is no refill. I got thirsty midway and our server never even offered us water. He was friendly other than that though. The place is decorated nicely and it's clean so that's a plus. Overall, a nice afternoon lunch with the hubby while we're furniture shopping. read more
