Came home from work late and did not want to make dinner. My daughter and I chose Namu since the food is normally good. We had the most unpleasant experience with the server and felt like we were putting him out. My daughter received dry chicken teriyaki and I did not receive my Bibimbap at all. We sat 8 fret from the cart and realized he closed up shop. How this guy can stay employed is a mystery. This is a blatant services not rendered. I've been going to Namu for quite a few years. I generally like their food and love that each dish comes with a bunch of accoutrements. I got the teriyaki chicken plate. It was super fresh and hit the spot. I forgot to ask that they not add teriyaki sauce to the rice but will do so next time. I love all the little side dishes with the exception of the spinach. I find it tastes super sweet and isn't quite what I want when I already have pickled cucumbers and teriyaki. read more

Namu has become one of my takeout favorites during the past pandemic year. I initially visited thanks to a friend who wanted to try their Hawaiian Plate lunch. He loves it - finding it preferable to anything he's had on multiple island visits. I've tended to go with their Korean options, not being a huge fan of Kalua Pork, and have been very happy with my choices. I did try the Pulled Pork sandwich (Kalua based) and it was fine, but I've always found pulled pork to be like pizza - no two are the same, and everyone has their own preferences - mine is heavy on caramelized sauce, which is not Namu's style. But, I will gladly take anything that Namu makes that involves Bulgogi Beef. That includes their cheesesteak sandwich (spectacular, and easily enough for 2 meals) and the bulgogi beef plate (served with a delightful spinach salad, among other things). Service has been reliably friendly and efficient, and even though I get my orders to go, there is a substantial amount of covered space in front of the cart, allowing me to keep dry, regardless of the weather. Just FYI, if you're eating there, beers from Scout go well with all of Namu's offerings. read more

The people who work here hate their job. And they hate you too. Don't try to call in to place your order because they won't pick up the phone. Once you get past the hostility of the workers, the food is quite decent. I really enjoy the bibimbop and Aloha bowl. The macaroni salad is also good. Prices have gone up and paying $16 (with tip) for a rather small bowl feels expensive. But I find myself coming back here from time to time since it's convenient to where I live and I enjoy getting a cold one at Ben Bears beer while I wait for my food. read more

This place is in a neat little food court plaza with lots of spaced out seating during this time of COVID. I ordered the Bulgogi beef plate and would say that it definitely checked off all the boxes for tasting like Bulgogi and having sufficient side dishes to make this a balanced meal. Having said that, I don't usually have high expectations for fusion food, and unfortunately my expectations were justified. I probably wouldn't go back. It wasn't particularly memorable for me and not a place I'd strongly recommend to a friend if they were to want Hawaiian or Korean food. Korean food was on my mind since a while and there it was "NAMU" beautifully decorated exteriors with a corner lot! There are some Hindu chants written near the delivery window. When asked, the chef said it was owner's idea. It was going well with the cart decor. Liked: Customer service. Friendly and they customized my Aloha bowl as more spicy. Decor of the cart. Didn't like: Aloha bowl how is tasted. Utter disappointment. Taste 1/5. Had dry sticky rice, Yakisoba noodles in bbq sauce, Chunks of tofu with namesake avocado and pineapple. Food takes forever to come out and is underwhelming, with some of the dishes being way too salty depending on the day. I've tried the cheesesteak, pulled pork sandwich, and Hawaiian lunch plate - the pulled pork sandwich is the best thing on the menu. Here it is, again, with site specific details: So I've been coming to Namu for years and in general find this place underwhelming but serviceable and cheap. This review is for the cart across the street from DC Vegetarian. It used to be at the now closed pod around 30th and Division. I'm leaving a review because the vegan bowl is no longer the vegan bowl. It's now a jackfruit bowl. Let me explain. It used to have beans, rice, spinach, kim chi, avocado, and cucumber. Maybe I'm forgetting something. Whatever. The new "vegan bowl" omits the beans (the best part) and adds jackfruit (blech). It's also $2 more. I know they give zero shits about my opinion but I'd happily adjust my review if the vegan bowl was reverted. Not everyone likes jackfruit. But by all means, have a jackfruit bowl for those that do. And a vegan bowl, as you have had for like 10 years now, for those that have supported you coming for the vegan bowl. Until I can get the actual Namu vegan bowl I will choose to support other businesses. read more

This place is alright...I got the BiBimBap and Bulgogi Cheese steak sandwich. BiBimBap was wayyy to spicy. And I'm pretty sure traditional Korean BiBimBap has some sort of meat in it...there was no meat. I gave the Bulgogi Cheese steak sandwich for my boyfriend that didn't eat it until the next morning. His exact words, "Meat was delicious, but the rest of it was too soggy". Given that he ate this the next morning, totally understandable. One guy working here, so things are a bit slow. The longs were ridiculously long everywhere at this food cart on a Friday evening. My kid wanted bulgogi so we got it. I'm sad to say we wasted time, money, and most importantly stomach space. Quite disappointing. Tried the bulgogi cheese steak and the bulgogi plate. The rice was undercooked. The bulgogi was thick, tough, and too sweet. The banchan was ok. Was a little worried reading the reviews, but happy to say my bulgogi fix was met. Had the bulgogi plate which had rice, cucumber salad (pickled cukes), cooked spinach with sesame seeds, and kim chee. Large portion of bulgogi (I choose to add the spicy gochujang, which was not really spicy), ice cream scoop size of rice, and the additional veggies (my advice, skip the kim chee...different flavor than I like, and get double cucumber or spinach. Both of them were much better than the kim chee in my opinion). They were open Tuesday for lunch while a lot of the other food trucks were not. This is one of many of Portland's food truck businesses. There are many Namus, peppered around the city, so know that it is a chain. I had the spicy tofu dish, and asked for it to be a little less spicy than normal. The tofu was nicely crisped, and all the other items were appropriately paired. I only wish there was more of the sautéed greens with sesame seeds. The Kim chi was pretty good, could've been a little more fresh. I also wish there wasn't as much rice, it was a little overkill. Most of the dishes are $10, which is pretty good for the area. I would come back, if in the mood for Korean....it's not a bad option! read more
