The man working tonite (3/18/23) has the worst customer service. Stood at the window for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged, while a line formed behind me. No "I'll be with you shortly" not even a glance up. Finally he decides to take my order, and mumbled "what would you like", mind you no smile and still not even looking in my direction. Threw me a beeper and that was it. The pineapple and tofu I got in my Aloha bowl was burnt and everything tasted dry and bland. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with this guy. But now I know to not even try and get food if he's working. Do better. read more

I LOVE this place. Their food is all cooked to perfection. The rice, meet, and cucumber side salad is delicious and fresh. The only thing I would change is the kimchi. It doesn't have much flavor and is much more wet than other kimchi I've had. read more

NAMU is a fusion of Hawaiian and Korean food. The pork platter at NAMU is one of the best pork dishes I have tasted. The pork is ridiculously tender and comes with avocado, rice, spinach, and kimchi. On the other hand, the pork is dosed with a lot of sauce. Unfortunately, I did not like it at all because it is bitter. As a result, I ended up eating below the top layer of the pork to avoid the sauce. I definitely recommend the dish but maybe ask for the sauce on the side unless you know you like it. 3.5 stars. food cart in the tidbit pod. I got the Chicken bulgogi plate. For 9 bucks it was a decent quantity of food but nothing exceptional. The chicken had flavor but was kind of dry. Its a korean-hawaiian fusion place so that might explaing the flavors. They had an interesting sounding dessert (donuts with cinammon and sugar), but they had closed by the time I had finished my dinner and wanted dessert, might try that next time. read more

Good thing I like kimchi, because the pineapple pork fried rice I ordered was fried with it. So a little spicy but I finished it. All of it. It was made with pulled pork and the pineapple took some of the edge off the kimchi. Like other fried rice, the pulled pork looks like it's left over from making other food and the "fried" part was a little over fried like it should be. Net-Net - unexpected but I liked it. read more

This review is only for the malasadas. I've had the "real" thing on multiple trips to Hawaii and it's hard to compare anything to the real deal. That being said, they prepare them fresh, serve them hot, and season them great with an appropriate amount of sugar and cinnamon. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars? Of the 6 ordered, one of the larger ones was a little under cooked and very gummy with the dough being undercooked. It was not raw by any means, but they should be fully cooked. I will say the other 5 were absolutely delicious. My recommendation? Try them! read more

I ordered the spicy beef noodle bowl. It came in this small bowl where I had trouble mixing it, so I asked for a plate. They provided kindly and I thoroughly enjoyed this entree. It had beef, cucumbers, spinach?, dicon?, and a sunny-side up egg.. All drizzled in this sweet, savory, and spicy sauce! It was fabulous. I'd recommend ordering this! The vegan bowl had a nice variety of food in it. The reason for the three stars is that it was swimming in a pool of hot sauce. While I love spice, this was excessive in heat and was overwhelming to any possible other flavors. We weren't asked how much spice we'd like and when you order a vegan bowl you don't expect your tongue to be on fire. Unfortunately for the price and the hot sauce we didn't get what we had hoped for. Go next door to the Doghouse - pay less, get more food, and have a better experience of taste and flavor. read more

Was really impressed by this food cart stop. It's Hawaiin Korean fusion bowls. I had the aloha bowl. A sweet flavorful layer of sticky rice, wheat noodles, grilled tofu, pineapple, and veggies. It looks small from the outside but there's enough food to keep you happy. The tofu is grilled well and so are the big pineapple chunks. Noodles and rice cooked really well. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of other meat and veg friendly options. read more

Namu delivers on the standard Hawaiian BBQ formula with a few Korean twists and compliments to make this food cart stand out from your everyday run of the mill Island BBQ fare, but not enough to have me coming back for more. All of the dishes are good and come in ample quantities, but compared to some of the other Hawaiian food I've had in Portland, Namu just kind of leaves me with a satisfied sense of "meh." If you do find yourself at the Division street food cart pod and craving some island BBQ, the bibimbap is a great choice and it's also hard to go wrong with some good old fashioned chicken teriyaki. I'll keep Namu in the dinner time rotation for now, but am still waiting on something on the menu to really impress me. read more

Let me tell you about Namu... it was a fabulous food cart set up in the Division street area, in Portland, surrounded by multiple food carts. Coming from Phoenix, AZ where the food cart scene is not huge, I absolutely loved this concept. Pictured is their tofu teriyaki bowl and it was delicious. When I hit the Portland food truck scene, the only torturous thing involved was actually choosing what truck to get your food from. Stumbling on the amazing SE Division Street neighborhood was a revelation in itself; but the food truck pod was on a whole different level. There was everything from pizza, to salads, to waffle sandwiches, to Mexican, to bakeries, to green juices, to beer trucks. They even had 2 retail trucks! Once I tore myself away from the spectacle, I was able to focus on what lucky truck was going to get my dollars. Namu was the resounding winner. As you can see from the picture of my Vegan Bowl above, it was a mouthwatering fusion of plant-based delights. It included kim chee, sesame spinach, cucumber salad, avocado, kidney beans, choice of brown or white rice, and spicy coconut sauce. All this for only $5!!! Everything was fresh and prepared to perfection. The cooks and servers were very friendly and there is a laid back vibe that permeates throughout the vicinity. There are plenty of benches to enjoy your bowl both near Namu's truck and in the center of the food truck park. They serve tons of beverages like coconut water and also have desserts. Although it's not a Vegan truck, they also have one other Vegan option, the Aloha bowl (teriyaki tofu...yum!) that looked amazing too. You don't want to miss Namu! read more

I LOVED this place. It's amazing. I got the Chicken Teriyaki on a Hawaiian plate. It's a dollar more ( $11) but so worth it. The macaroni salad is soo good. So exciting to find some legit Hawaiian and Korean food - I believe I got the bulgogi plate which was so good! Bulgogi was full of flavor, and loved all the fixings to the side. The only downside is that I felt it took a while until my food came out (time seems longer when you're borderline hangry), and I thought $10 was a little high for my meal. They should have maybe sliced the beef to make bite sized pieces. The picked veggies on top didn't work for me. I would surely purchase again Sans the veggies. I love Hawaiian food. I also love Korean food. So when I saw this food cart, I was very excited to have both tastes in one. While Namu advertises a tasty sounding menu, it doesn't deliver on flavor. I ordered the pineapple fried rice. The fried rice was also advertised to contain pork. When I received it, it looked wonderful. There were plenty of chunks of pineapple and what appeared to be kimchi but instead just tasted like boiled cabbage. Sadly, there were only a few shreds of pork in it. I could forgive the lack of pork if there were actual flavor in this rice. Anytime you have to add salt, condiments, or anything to enhance a dish especially one from a culture that has big bold flavors, it's so disappointing. If you are going to have a food truck that sells foods of another culture, please make sure you know what you're doing in order to properly represent that culture's wonderful cuisine. One should never associate Hawaiian or Korean food with the word bland. You have a lovely food truck and interesting menu, please pump up the flavor and spices. We love local businesses here and we want you to succeed. read more

Ordered the Aloha Bowl and was a bit disappointed. The avocado was a bit hard and underripe, the rice was too soft and mushy and the teriyaki? sauce was too overwhelming for my personal preference. On the other hand, the yakisoba noodles were cooked perfectly! Tofu, grilled pineapples and spinach were alright. For $8, I expected more. The service was okay and they were pretty fast. This is one of my favorite carts to come to off SE Division and 28th. They give you lots of fresh food for the price. I recommend the kalua pork plate - it's Hawaii's version of pulled pork and comes with rice and veggies as sides. I am not a huge fan of kimchi but they are accommodating and let me swap it out for mac salad - another Hawaiian favorite. read more

With how fresh and light these delightful Hawaiian-style donuts are, and what a great value at 6 for $4, how can I not give them 5 stars for this alone?! The donuts came out in about 7 minutes for what seemed to be a moderately busy evening for them (there were two people in front of me in line). They're doused in a cinnamon and sugar mixture, and they're all quite large. For such a generous portion, I was very pleased that these only cost $4. I'd definitely stop by again. I actually like namu and have eaten there a handful of times, however, I am reconsidering. Tonight my friend ordered as usual and was handed the credit card tablet to sign. Immediately after handlng the tablet (which everyone paying with a credit card touches), the woman working put it down and started reaching into the precooked noodles to prepare the order, no hand washing, no gloves. I ordered next and I handed her cash. After putting it in the register, she did the same thing, no hand washing, just dirty bare hands in the noodles. Are you kidding me? Besides that, they ran out of rice. Ok, so I could let that go, things happen. But my order was also missing two of the other 4 ingredients, again, something I might chalk up to an honest mistake, but since I didn't open it until I got home, it was a bummer. So Namu, while I have liked your food in the past, I will pass until you get someone in there who is willing to wash their hands. Errors making orders isn't the end of the world, but when you skip cleanliness, I draw the line. read more
