The food itself was very nicely presented and tasted delicious. In addition, serving sizes were so generous that we ended up with enough leftovers for two more meals. So while the prices aren't cheap, they're a pretty good value.

After I read reviews about Portland's Chinatown, I searched for a dimsum place outside of Chinatown and found Jade Rabbit I liked the name of the place and saw that they had two kinds of rabbit-shaped dimsum! Another cool thing is that their menu is vegan... that means that I don't have to worry about dairy products that give me pain. We found free street parking about a half a block away and waited for Jade Rabbit to open at 11am. We didn't have reservations, but we're seated immediately. The decor was great! I enjoyed looking at all of the Rabbit figurines! The furniture was colorful and the convenient restroom had interesting decorations, too! The service was okay. Some items were not available and our server recited the list that included chow funn. Shucks! She came back later and said that the chow funn was, in fact, available... yay! Our server seemed a bit nervous as her hand shook and placed the special menu upside-down... LOL! We won't bite you! She recommended the Ube Jam drink - it was made with coconut cream... yes! The chow funn was a bit bland. We added some soy sauce. The Puto Pao Bunny Bao had an unusual flavor - maybe the brown sugar can be omitted because the black garlic and vegan pork might be fine without it? We did end up sending it back (which i hate doing) and got it redone adding another 10isj minutes of waiting on top of our already pretty long wait (but again it was busy so we didnt rlly care much for the wait) but i did get full off of the sides by the time the redo came out The redo definitely tasted alot better, it didnt taste burnt which was good but in general didnt really have much flavor. So it's #TacoTuesday and I absolutely had to hit up Matt's BBQ Tacos since I freaking saw them on Netflix's Street Food! Let's see how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: So Matt's is located in a food truck park on 50th Street between SE Lincoln Street and SE Division Street. There is no private parking so you'll have to find a place on the street to put your fly ride. But I really liked this place! There are several food "pods" all neatly lined up in a row. Seating is both "inside" and outside, meaning it's all outside, but some of the space is covered. The bar for the whole venue (Hinterland) is up front when you first walk in. But it was just real chill and I liked it. Service: Since it's a food truck, you just talk to them. Lol. But the folks running the truck were friendly, personable and real chill. Food: First up I tried their chips and queso! The chips were extra thick, giving that good quality crunch. They were hearty, a bit wheat-y, grainy, but most importantly, strong! To hold all the toppings! The queso wasn't as viscous as I thought (or would want) it would be, but perhaps because it was very hot when it first came out. But the flavors were light and not as deep or rich as I had anticipated. Really good queso though! Our first taco was the Pork Belly Breakfast Taco which comes with refried beans, queso, scrambled eggs and a fresh flour tortilla. The tortillas were absolutely hand-made and had little air pockets in certain places that just gave it a more unique touch. The taco was indeed messy, but was FANTASTIC. I expected an abundance of salt, but nope, it was so well-balanced. It was easily one of my favorite tacos I had ever had! There were also 3 sauces you can get to go along with the tacos. One was recommended for each. The sweet BBQ was amazing. It had hints of raspberry, blackberry and other fruits. It was a little thinner of a sauce, but I LOVED it with this taco specifically. I wish I could've bought a bottle to take home! The Pulled Pork Taco comes with pulled pork, guacamole, pickled onion and pickled jalapeno. The pork was so powerful and let you know it was in the taco. Good porky, fatty saltiness from it. The pickled vegetables added a great texture-breaker amongst the tender pork. I then added a tomatillo sauce that was much thicker than the rest. Lots of strong cilantro with a little bit of lime flavoring came through along with solid salt and acidity. Last, but not least we have the Chopped Brisket Taco. This was the one that mostly featured on the show so I saved it for last. It's hot brisket tossed in "hot dip" then served with the same vegetables as the last one. So... I don't want to say I was let down, but the brisket was much thicker and denser than the pulled pork was. I preferred the other one better. But the taco was good, I just wasn't blown away like I was with the other 2. The sauce for this one was the chipotle sauce that was nice and thick. The sauce certainly added some moisture to the taco, but the sauce was a little too much for me. It was gritty, briny, dense, heavy and a bit Earthy. Value: In my personal opinion, the tacos are worth what I paid. Back when I came, the Pork Belly Breakfast taco was $6.50. Online it's now $1.00 more. The Pulled Pork was $6.00, but an added $0.50 each for the queso and jalapeno. The same taco has only gone up $0.25. The Chopped Brisket taco was $6.25 and now it's $7.25. In my opinion, it's still worth it. In conclusion, I'd revisit this place in a heartbeat! I loved it here! Now they have smoked chicken tacos and stuff! So I'd want to try out some new stuff! I hope you guys come and check it out while continuing to support local businesses!
