Worked up an appetite on my walk. I wanted to get some Padee but there is a big line and I am hungry now! So no better reason than to hit up the food cart pod for a little meal before another meal. Tobiko had a special that included coconut shrimp.... So had to go ahead and make that happen. Food came out very quickly. Under 10 mins. Large portion and a good amount of crispy coconut shrimp. I can't help but love all the edamame! Pickled ginger and rice. Basically irreproachable. I'm stuffed at this point. Probably won't stop me from eating more food. We came to this food pod because it had great seating and options to eat. I chose Tobiko bowl. I am by no means vegan or vegetarian but wanted a refreshing meal. I definitely got just that. I love this spot. Owner is super sweet and remembers my order every time I go (I try to go once a week or at least every two weeks) and honestly I order the same thing every time lol. The spicy sushi bowl. However, it doesn't have raw fish - it has imitation crab, edamame, rice, avocado, cucumber, pickled radish, spicy mayo, furikake and seaweed. Seriously my favorite dish there. Not sure if we went on off day, but food was disappointing. The salmon tasted like it was cooked a day ago and reheated before serving. The flesh of the fish was severely over cooked, sweet, mealy and fishy. The teriyaki sauce was a very sweet, loose broth instead of a sticky glaze. The broccoli and carrot mix tasted like steamed frozen veg from bag. The only edible part was broccoli, avocado, and top portion of steamed rice that wasn't completely saturated in a pool of sugary sauce. Hands down the worst Japanese food I've ever had. My wife got the sushi bowl and it was slightly better than the salmon but also drenched in sweet sauce and not balanced. We both threw took a couple of bites and ended up tossing the rest. Pretty horrible. Salmon was old, way beyond overcooked, and completely swimming in sauce. Spicy "sushi" bowl was too sweet and mostly tasted of mayo. I wanted something light and refreshing and ended up with a block of rice and not a lot of flavor. $22 down the drain. Food was inedible. read more

I had the teriyaki chicken bowl. I've honestly had comparable microwave meals. Crinkle-cut carrots, the minimum amount of broccoli to notice that broccoli was indeed included, floating in a soup of overly-sweet sauce. It was garnished with fresh green onions, so there's a point for them, but definitely not worth it for me. Maybe other dishes are better? I don't think I'll take the chance. read more

My wife and I eat here regularly because we love the bowls. I always get the California bowl, she gets the spicy sushi bowl. Huge portions for us older folks. And reasonably priced. We haven't tried any other entrees, but we do recommend the seaweed salad. read more

Eating here was a little last minute, but it was a nice experience. My boyfriend got the teriyaki salmon which was really good, and I got the crab salad, which I enjoyed as well. The crab had a little too much mayonnaise for me, so after a few bites it was a bit much. However, the rice was cooked well and they gave us a lot of avocado! My teen & I were out biking around and stopped by this pod on a whim. I offered to buy him birthday lunch because all month is birthday month, right? So he chose the cart. We tried each other's & agreed they were equally amazing. Coconut shrimp is such a bougie thing to order - so easy to go very wrong, but it was light & fresh. The sushi rice was perfect! Not mushy, not overly sweet but on the sweet side. Tiny sprinkles of seaweed & sesame. For $12 each, we were stuffed and we had just biked from North Portland, so that's saying something.
