First time trying this restaurant. We were intrigued by the name, Nan King and that it is Latin and Chinese fusion. We were in the area and decided to eat in. The restaurant was empty. Just one patron picking up food. The restaurant has been remodeled. It is very clean. The only complaint was that it was 63 degrees inside of the restaurant. A bit chilly. The menu had Peruvian chaufa (fried rice), pork dishes, latin desserts and drinks. We ordered tostones for an appetizer. The dipping sauce was ketchup and mayonnaise. We ordered the Thai Basil with a wonton soup and vegetable fried rice combo and sesame chicken with pork fried rice and a spring roll. The food had great flavor, and the portions were big. The presentation was very nice. You can tell they really want to make their guests happy. The restaurant is currently set up as a take out place. They had several take out orders when we arrived and the phone kept ringing. They have one person answering the phone and taking table orders. It took a bit before water was brought out and our orders were taken but the staff is very nice and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. There is parking on premises. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu. read more

This place is BY FAR the worst chinese restaurant that I've ever eaten at. I don't care if it's latin fusion, someone there should be able to cook good chinese food. The pork lo mein was tasteless, the noodles were mushy. I also got boneless spare ribs but what I REALLY got was pork pieces soaked in the sauce. It was definitely NOT spare ribs without the bones. I ordered the Gen. Tso's chicken combination meal. On the menu it said it was $11.99. The person who took my order on the phone told me it comes with rice and an egg roll. They told me the price on the phone that it was over $15. When I picked it up and got home the receipt said they charged me for the rice and the egg roll. They shouldn't charge for the sides in a combination meal. The amount of chicken they gave was also small and they charge more than other Chinese food places. It didn't taste like Gen. In search for local goodies continues: decided to try this Latin infused Chinese restaurant. ESP after seeing the had a " ropa vieja" sushi roll. Which is basically a Spanish style stewed beef. Well that was short lived bc upon calling to place the order I was told "we don't have sushi" then told " the sushi guy is off today " haha this was disappointing like just one sushi chef ... in any case still proceeded to order Wonton soup: 0/10 way to thick and large, was not appealing at all. Hot sour soup: 0/10 the oddest taste, broth was way to thick as well. This was sad as this is one of my favorite soups and this has to be the worst tasting one to date. Hubby also disliked. Singapore noodles w/shrimp: 6/10 noodles were a lil to hard still. And it was missing some savor ( flavor) I did enjoy them after pouring some of what I believed was a cilantro still sauce that came with the order. That helped with flavor. Kung Pao rice: 6/10 ehhh I don't know how I feel about this one. It was mixed with chicken breast, pork , ham and some sausage. The sausage was very sweet , and the chicken breast slices were so dry. The combination of the meat was not for me. I removed all the sausage and added some pure sesame oil and I was able to enjoy. While the food wasn't horrible, there was nothing memorable sadly. The idea sounds phenomenal, maybe a new chef with some more creativity would do the trick ! For me it's a one and done The quest continues to find local gems.. read more

First this is a Chinese Latin fusion. Crazy good. I had peking duck for $20. Absolutely what I expected. Very good!!! Plenty of room for large lunch parties. Service was great. My Peking duck actually came out with all other ordered items. Usually somewhere else you have to order ahead. read more

I stopped in to Nan King to pick up takeout for my kids. The restaurant is new, vibrant, and has a fun energy. The restaurant seemed to be full, and we were greeted promptly. There was no hesitation when I requested extra fortune cookies for my kids. We tried the shrimp with mixed vegetables, which came with a side of white rice, chicken lo mein, with no veggies, and the shrimp lo mein. The shrimp with mixed vegetables was delicious, the sauce was perfect, and the shrimp were a good size. The shrimp lo mein was delicious and saucy packed with veggies. The chicken lo mein was okay, but a little dry. I will definitely be going back to try the other seafood items. read more

The food was AMAZING! I am not sure about the few 1 star reviews of this place, but I would humbly ask that you Ignore them and try it for yourself once and then DO put in an honest review. The service was super-fast and the food came in in under 10 minutes that my brother and I were skeptical that this would taste good just because it looked so appetizing. We were surprised that it was tasted so delish and I'm so glad to say I will definitely be back and this will now be a recurring spot for me. The Ambiance is nice for its style of restaurants and I can bring my wife and my family over here for a good sit down meal. The Beef was tender and flavored perfectly, frankly I was expecting it to be chewy. The Thai Basil Chicken was very fragrant and flavorful too. Please do order the Crab Rangoon, they were spot on. We ordered a little hot oil on the side because we kinda like the extra heat and it worked like a charm. I visited this restaurant even though some of the reviews were not encouraging. Right after the first bite I got pain in my stomach and it developed from there. My husband ate a good amount of my fish and was OK so I can attribute it either to an allergy on my end or some ingredients that did not sit well with me. Service was a tad below average. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food is good. Some items are a little on the sweet side but overall pretty good. I also like how the general tso is actual chicken and not just breading. Be prepared, the price point is a little high. An order for 3 people was around $100. read more

So a couple things. A restaurants "specialty" needs to be good if not among their signature dishes. This said I ordered the Chicharron Chicken marked as a specialty and was disappointed (see picture) you figure if it is a specialty costing $20 w/ tax you would get more than a couple dried sliced breast pieces and unremarkable bottled sauces dips. Nothing special here just overpriced below average chicken. Will not order here again assuming this is their so called "specialty". Service would be ok and ambiance would be ok ... but please for a specialty let the top dollar match commensurate with good food. read more

I'm happy the new owner rejuvenated the indoor dining. It's a nice aesthetic and the tables are spaced apart. The food has been great so far, and I've gone several times since the restaurant relaunched with the new owner. I regularly get the shrimp with lobster sauce lunch special. The shrimp are large and fresh. You get a generous amount. I've also had the pepper steak which has very tender beef--a great mouthfeel. A good test of a quality Chinese restaurant for me is the complexity of flavors of their pork fried rice. Cheap takeout fried rice is often one note of heavy handed soy sauce brownness. Theirs has flavorful roast pork, scallions, onions, egg and bean sprouts. Another test for me are egg rolls. Cheap egg rolls are cabbage-heavy and are simply a vehicle for duck sauce. Theirs have chunks of pork, so you get a more complex flavor with a protein accent. Plus theirs has a nice crisp crunch. Lastly, Bernadette, who works the front is always warm and friendly. Very personable. They are my new go-to for reliably good local Chinese food. read more

What happened? It was great when it first reopened as NanKIng. The egg roll was cold, so they took it back and made it worse...dried out cabbage and unedible. The orange chicken was not breaded...just dried out chicken pieces with cut up orange pieces. The pork fried rice was so dried out and not freshly made at all. I think they make the food early in the day and reheat as needed. The server/host is terrible! Poor service, inedible food, and duct taped seats. read more

The food here is so delicious! They have a great mix of Venezuelan & Chinese food, and the way they cook the Chinese food is very typical of South America. It makes for a delicious combination. The food is good quality and they give you good portions for your money! The staff is very friendly and the decorations are nice. I highly recommend the friend wontons. read more

Just went to Nan King (formerly Peking Duck). It is now a Chinese-Latin fusion , although their menu gives no indication of a blending of cultural foods. The worst part about the new menu: MSG. I had to speak to the owner to find this out, and she claimed that it is difficult to cook Chinese without it. (Tell that to all the restaurants that don't add that excitotoxin to their foods!) The counter girl hung up on me when I asked about the msg... terrific customer service. I tried to access their FB page as they state they have, but it's apparently in FB jail, or simply invisible. If I ever planned on returning, I'd tell them to proofread their printed menu as well, but now, I simply don't care. read more

well after seeing so much publicity about this place in social media, I decided to go get lunch before work with my son to support a latino family , I was really excited to try, ohh how much I regret doing that !!! To begin with the place was looking like it wasn't even open... dirty by the entrance , they have some sort of machine at the entrance like the ones for the inflatable air man, you normally put outside your business, (unrelatable) once we enter we could feel the cold air it was literally FREEZING!!! the only one server/hostess/manager/back of the house and front of the house in the location was even wearing her jacket .. i asked, she answered, we turn the heater at night.... i was like ok .. I guess we will eat with our jackets on... the place look empty, the chairs tape with black ducktape ( i was like , aren't they just open a few months ago ) anyways I keep my faith up reading the menu, we got excited , we ordered before 11:40 ish definitely i remember her saying let me go grab my iPad to get your order in... I was like ohh it look like they are really fast !! ( I was dead wrong) granted do the lady was so nice ... to a point I feel really sorry for her ... all by herself trying to sort everything alone... anyways another table walks in .. another take our order .. so is 3 clients all together.. is almost 12:10 no food ... I'm getting anxious.. I approached and my food .. after I pay she say it's going to take a few more minutes the guy you just seen is going back in the kitchen to finish cooking your food ... I was like ohh my i need to go to work soon... she kept apologizing.... i heard her talking to the other table apologizing every now and again we dont have this, we dont have that so sad !!! 12:30ish nothing at this point, i decided to change my order to a to go order I couldn't kept waiting, I'm cold , hungry, late for work .. MY kid is feeling so agravated I decided to just leave ... she come out with bags with food , only to tell me that my food wasn't ready yet at that point I just ask for my money back and leave a third person comes out the kitchen apologize again and ask me what to i need .. I say my money back .. I'm leaving .. he say sorry Process my refund(which BTW I'm still waiting for to get) and granted do they didn't charge for the soda can, we got earlier !!! We leave the place around 12:40 ended up getting a bagel and a coffee because we were late for everything... so sad I couldn't taste the food ... so unfortunate that they don't have the employees to be able to serve , I understand is a fusion restaurant but typically Chinese restaurants are fast ... i hope they get better .. but I would recommended this place to no body, unless you have lots of time, tolerance to the cold and a lots and lots and LOTS of patience. overall -20 doesn't even made justice to my review. read more
