    Wakame Ramen Special

Nice bowls of hot ramen and katsu chicken and green tea for the three of us. Small place, but busy, tucked next to a ShopRite. Katsu was nice size breast w panko crust sliced and dipping sauce. Three bowls of ramen, one spicy. Great service, constantly checking on us, refresh water, and seemed to care if we liked the ramen. Plenty of noodle, mine had sea weed, fish cake, bamboo shoots and pork char sui. Definitely come back

Rai Rai Ramen has just overtaken Ajika Ramen as my absolute favorite ramen restaurant! It is that good! The broth is that flavorful and seasoned. The charsiu is so soft, it almost melts on your tongue. The fungus and scallions add a delectable flavor. The boiled egg is the perfect added touch. Ofcourse, I cant forget the ramen itself, where the noodles werent limp or mushy and were cooked just right. The coconut milk tea was very enjoyable. If youre on Route 27, definitely stop in! Its in the Plaza 27 in North Brunswick.

The parking lot can be a little tight/small if it's during peak hours so just be aware of that. I came for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was moderately crowded. Service was quick, the ramen amazingly flavorful. Each bite was better than the last. Perfect spot for a cold day!

The food here is very good, which is earning them a three. However, the ambiance and service at the East Brunswick location are significantly better. I wasn't checked in on once during my meal and had to request napkins and chopsticks as there were none at my table. The dining area also had Fox News playing on full volume the entire time I was trying to enjoy my lunch. I completely understand having the news on, but there is a reason that they have subtitles. It was very hard to just disconnect and enjoy my lunch in peace. I will be sticking to the East Brunswick location from now on.

Rai Rai is one of my go-tos in the area for a hot bowl of ramen! I may be biased as this was where I had my first bowl of ramen, but it is one of my favorites. I usually try something different. My favorite is probably the mapo tofu ramen, which combines my favorite dish with noodles. However, this time I tried the tan tan ramen, which was equally meaty and hearty. Service is always fast, and there can be a wait if you go at peak meal times. I've seen this restaurant up its decor game over the years, and its a fun spot for a casual date or time with friends and family. I'm looking forward to the next time I can visit Rai Rai!

Came here for some ramen on a rainy day. The menu is a funny and interesting mix of all kinds of Asian food. There is of course ramen, but also some Chinese items, Malaysian stuff (roti canai), and even Hawaiian bbq like loco mocos. Super random and I don't remember them having any of this stuff before, but don't worry - the ramen isn't any less yummy just because they serve all this other food. I got the spicy miso ramen, which warmed me right up on this cold, rainy day. The beef and chicken based ramens were also super flavorful. The broth has a good depth of flavor, though maybe a bit heavy on garlic and salt. The only small negatives were that the ramen could've used some extra meat, and I would have liked the option to add some extra pieces. Also, for the vegetarians in my group, some veggie options for curries, fried rice, and some of the other dishes would be nice. The veggie ramen was great though! Overall, nice spot! Good food and cozy vibes.

Great food and generous portions! Tried the Taiwanese pork rice, great flavor on the munched port, comes with an egg. The mini sets are great, which is a small bowl of ramen with a side of curry rice, fried rice or gyoza. Server was friendly!

I haven't tried the ramen here, so this review is for the Japanese inspired dishes. I had the shumai for my appetizer. I don't recommend it. The shumai was really small and tasted and looked like something you can just buy from the store and heat up in the microwave. For my entree, I got the tonkatsu curry with rice. It was good but it could've been crispier, however the portions were huge! I also wish the curry was thicker and had more in it like carrots and potatoes. The restaurant has plenty of seating inside and is well decorated. The service is also good.

I usually recommend this place to people for ramen since their Akamaru modern ramen is wonderful. Today I decided to try something new and ordered their mapo tofu ramen since I love mapo tofu. However I was super disappointed at how disgusting it tasted. Although listed under spicy ramen, it was not spicy at all. It does not taste like any mapo tofu I've ate, not in a good way. It smelled and tasted like tofu and meat gone bad and sour with the saltiness trying the cover the taste. I would not recommend ordering the mapo tofu under any circumstance. It ruined my dinner appetite. I got the matcha bubble tea to wash off the disgusting taste and smell of the mapo tofu ramen. The bubble tea was good and you can taste the matcha. The mochico chicken was still great though and I like the sauce with the kick of spiciness to the sauce which pairs well with the chicken

Ask the Community - Rai Rai Ramen

Does this restaurant have Tonkatsu Ramen Broth?

I was drooling for it but they don't have it. They have shoyu, pork, vegetable and miso ramen broths.

    Is the Mochiko Chicken gluten-free?

    No it is not

I don't eat pork but I would love to try Rai Rai. Does anyone have any recommendations for ramen dishes that would taste good with the veggie broth?

They have vegetarian options! And, if you don't eat pork, do you eat chicken or seafood? They're also options for the ramen toppings.

Is the new location in East Brunswick open? Can't find anything online

Yes it's open! As of the last week in August!

Like many people today, I'm mindful of what I spend dining out, so I expect good value for the price. Since I live in South Jersey, I brought the food home to eat later. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The ramen included four slices of chashu (pork belly), but three of those slices were entirely fat with no meat. I understand that pork belly naturally contains fat--that's part of what makes it flavorful--but receiving pieces that were essentially all fat made the dish unpleasant and felt like poor quality control. I called the restaurant to share my concern, but the response was underwhelming. I was simply told the manager would be informed. When I asked if there was anything further that could be done, I received no real resolution--just a basic explanation of what pork belly is. As someone who understands the product, that explanation missed the point. The issue wasn't what chashu is--it was the quality of what was served. Everything else about the meal was fine, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. However, customer service matters just as much as the food. A simple effort to address the issue or offer a solution would have made a big difference. As a former business owner, I've always believed customer satisfaction should be a top priority. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and for that reason, I won't be returning.

That is what you get when you get great eats at Terakawa Ramen. As you enter, you'll notice the wall murals with the chefs on one side and the opposite wall has anime customers slurping their ramen. Yes, it's perfectly fine to make those loud slurping noises to show your appreciation for a great bowl of ramen. Here's what was ordered: - Signature Terakawa Ramen - 4.5/5 stars Boasted of rich, lovingly homemade pork bone soup with a good amount of sliced roast pork, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, ginger, scallions, and a jammy egg. The straight thin noodles were al dente. They maintained their texture in the broth, brilliantly. The broth was deep and flavorful. - Pork belly Donburi - 4.5/5 stars The juicy tender pork belly was plentiful, sliced perfectly as their we're not too thick nor paper thin. Their flavor was rich, savory with a balance of sweetness from the soy dashi sauce. Elegantly layered in top of a humongous bowl of seasoned rice, along with a sprinkle of scallions, pickled radishes, and sesame seeds. The photo on their menu does not do it justice. I would have loved a jammy egg to be included to bring the dish to the next level. - Gyoza - 3.5/5 stars 5 pieces of Pan-fried gyoza dumplings with their dumpling sauce. I would prefer them to have been fried a bit more. The balance between their pork and cabbage was even. They were delightfully light in both taste and texture. The service was very good. Both Willie, the owner, and a charming waiter named Sung served us. Sung kept coming over checking in to attest our cups were full, and if we needed anything else. I was told the have two locations: Philadelphia and the one we're dining at, Princeton Junction, NJ. Both locations serve homemade recipes from the Kumamoto region of Japan. If ramen is your love language, this place will absolutely speak to your soul.

One major plus: street parking is way easier here compared to the Bayard St location. No circling the block endlessly or needing to pay metered parking -- we found free parking right out front, which made the whole experience feel way more relaxed. Any downsides? The Easton spot is smaller, with fewer tables and a tighter layout. It feels more like a ramen bar than a sit-down social restaurant, which is fine for a quick meal or a casual date night, but maybe not ideal for bigger groups or a cozier intimate feel.
