Finally....finally....our neighborhood of Bed Stuy had given us a reason to never leave. This is not happening a moment too soon because it is freezing (most days) and the desire to go outside becomes less and less. The Gyoza and all of the Ramen soups are amazing. Great place right off of a busy street, but it is surprisingly quiet. If you are hoping to go there for lots of space, this isn't the place but their food more than makes up for the size. If this restaurant were a date, it be the cute little guy in the corner that happens to be a great kisser. Give him a try. read more

This was my first time visiting nana ramen restaurant and I enjoyed the experience. I was reuniting with a friend and our mutual hunger required we go somewhere close. Walking past on previous occasions, and seeing how crowded it can be, definitely influenced my decision to get there soon after it opened for dinner. We ordered the shrimp shumai, octopus balls, nana curry, and the vegetarian ramen (the name escapes me)... All was pretty tasty, the octopus especially, however there was more dough than octopus. (Not really surprised but of course not what I would have preferred.). The shumai was especially hot and my hunger/impatience resulted in my tongue slightly seared but not enough to to deter me from ordering it again. The curry ramen had a slight kick and was very creamy. Enjoyable, but I would have really enjoyed a deeper/stronger flavor of curry. The veggie ramen was ok but not my friend's favorite. All in all, nana ramen is a welcome addition to my neighborhood and I will be returning to try the spicy miso ramen. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting and great for a two person dinner. I'm sure if we got there later the noise level would have made it a totally different (not altogether bad) experience. I look forward to seeing what other tasty options they have. read more

This is rare, I truly enjoyed this place. Small space seating for less than 40. Went in for lunch on a Tuesday to "check it out" I ordered the edamame and chicken appetizer with ponzu sauce. You can't mess up edamame so, there's not much to say... The chicken app was delightful! Crispy, hot, juicy and the sauce added just the right touch. If you like more spice ask for the chili condiment....Just ask, it will make you happy! Service was laid back, Good Lite Lunch Took the family for Dinner, same day, yes, I'm serious. Anyway the waiter recognized me, we laughed. There was another server helping. The space was packed. Since, I convinced the whole crew to join now I could try everyone's food except for the picky person at the table who was already going to have my earlier lunch dish :-( The Ramen is solid I order from here once a week. This place is cute and a great addition to Malcolm X. Had the Black Tonkotsu to go. The pork was very fatty but not in a good way. The noodles were just fine. And the broth was absolutely delicious and hearty! (Like drink the bowl at the end delicious hahaha) I think overall it was a great meal, but not for the price (it was $13 + tax, would price it more around 9/10 for quality and taste). The service is great! Very friendly and accommodating wait staff. I would definitely come back because it is just a stone's throw away from my house, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this ramen if I didn't live so close. read more

Amazing! Me and three friends split shrimp shumai, dumplings, and takoyaki (fried octopus balls)--all delicious. Two of us had the nana curry ramen bowls and two of us had black tonkotsu bowls. Finally! I've been looking forward to this place opening for a while now, and was able to visit on their first day. The space was decently filled, so I guess others felt similarly. The decor of the space is beautiful -- absolutely love the interesting light fixtures and wood details throughout. I was with a group of 4, and we started off with the takoyaki and green tea. The takoyaki was perfectly gooey and delicious, and came with some great sauces. The tea was good too, and I really liked the adorable cups it came in. Most importantly though, their ramen is fantastic. Chuko and Ippudo were the best ramen spots I'd been too prior, but I really think Nana is on par with both of them. I know that seems like a crazy superlative, but it is that good. I had the spicy miso ramen (added an egg) and tried some of the black tonkatsu as well. Both broths were perfectly fatty and flavorful, and the noodles were super fresh. I really can't wait to come back and try everything else on their menu! I would have expected there to be some hiccups on the first day open, but that really wasn't the case. It would be great if they could stock up on to-go containers (it's hard to eat all that ramen in one sitting!), and they should probably fix the front door that doesn't swing closed properly. I went here for a second time with friends but was underwhelmed. I got black tonkotsu ramen both times. The broth was too thick and oily and the boiled egg was cold. But the noodles were cooked perfectly. We shared the karaage and takoyaki. The takoyaki was very tasty but the portion was very small for the price. I loved the Japanese mayonnaise and the tonkatsu sauce combination on it! It's a good place to go if you just want average ramen. The first time I went was for dinner and the restaurant was crowded. However the second time I went was for lunch and we were the only customers. They seemed to have turned off most of their lights in the restaurant and it felt very dark. I did appreciate the fact that they let us stay for a long time even after we finished our food. I'd go again out of convenience as many of my friends live near by but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here. read more

Sadly never even got to try the food here but giving it 1 star on just really poor customer service. Walked 45 mins on a drizzly night after calling ahead to confirm the backyard was open & available. Arrived there an hour before close & was told the back yard was not open because of the rain but that we could sit inside. We specifically chose to try this spot because we don't feel comfortable with COVID to share space indoors. Calling ahead was intended to confirm we were able to do this in their well advertised backyard space after confirming their hours as well. After asking about my appetizer a couple of times, the waitress who is the owner's wife, not only refused to cancel the order even though I had already finished my Spicy Miso Ramen, insisting that it was ready and yet I still waited another 5 minutes The food isn't anything to write home about either! To add salt to an already open wound, she, the owner's wife, never took the octopus off the check when I was ready to leave! Yes I paid full price AND left a tip! This is nice addiction to the neighborhood. I've been twice now and food a service were solid. The tan tan ramen was delicious and spicy miso packs a punch. The veggie ramen was kind of boring and bamboo shoots overwhelm the other flavors, so wouldn't recommend that one. Edamame is standard and steamed well. Takoyaki was excellent, just like I recall from my time in Tokyo, would be nice if served in order of 6 instead of 5 balls. They chili oil is complimentary (unlike Chuko) and should stay that way. They also provide dry roasted garlic flake shakers on tables. And the tap water is cold, which is quite refreshing and welcome after a bowl full of spicy broth. Small ramen shop that my sister has been raving about. The place is nestled in the center of gentrified Brooklyn. The host/waitress was polite and the food came out in a timely manner. My sister got her favorite which is the Spicy Miso. I opted for the seafood Ramen. This dish traditionally comes with shrimp, mussels and squid. I opted for no squid. My bowl came with a ton of mussels and one shrimp. Lol However the solo shrimp was quite tasty. Fast forward: I took my seafood out of the original bowl and ate it with my now received spicy Miso. Perfect! We drank water with our meal. The serve came around a few times to refill half full glasses and asked if there was anything else that we needed. The visit was short and sweet. I got the black tonkotsu with no substitutions or additions. The noodles were just chewy enough, pork chashu was cooked super tender, and the soft boiled egg was perfect. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too salty. Portion size was generous but manageable for one person to finish. The hostess/waitress was friendly and attentive without being pushy.
