We got the Matcha Shiratama Parfait. The server was awesome. She didn't even have to ask our id for kama'ainna discount since we were in Waikiki area. We start from the top of the cup with green tea ice cream, mochi balls, and cereal then work way to the bottom of the cup which had the green tea jelly. The green tea JELLY is so good which made the whole cup is so good. Hard to find parking. read more

One of the only matcha parfait spots, great location to stop by right after dinner! Matcha parfait is on par with their Vancouver location, might be a tad bigger because of the plastic cup. Our order came out quick and we got one of the four tables in front of the store, but there's plenty of seating in the mall upstairs. read more

I was so excited to try Nana's Green Tea after hearing that there was a location here too! I've been to the location in NYC and the one in Honolulu is quite similar and located in the STIX Asian Food Hall. I had a Matcha Parfait and it was delicious - there were so many different layers and textures and the assortment was quite genious. There was ice cream, black bean, whip cream, cereal, milk, soft serve, jello, and I'm sure some additional ingredient as well and I loved it. They also can make the parfait in To-Go cup. Most recently, I also saw that they have a special seasonal Sakura menu which might be also worth checking out! read more

I was able to try out Nana's Green tea, this time located in Stix Asia food hall(downstairs in a food court setting) on Kalākaua Ave in downtown Waikiki, earlier this summer. I shared their Matcha Shiratama Parfait, which is one of their most popular desserts. It is a mix of green tea ice cream, mochi, corn flakes and more. It was neatly contained in a to go cup and it was refreshing on this warm summer evening. The young lady who took our order was friendly and the environment they're in is fun as there are lots of people and other food options all on one floor. read more

As a lover of Nana's Green Tea back home and who has visited both locations back home more than too often, I had to visit Nana's Green Tea here in Honolulu. Although their parfaits arent as presentable as the ones back home, they still taste as good as the ones back home. We ordered a Hojicha Warabimochi Parfait and it was a delight to share for the two of us. Tastes just like Hojicha and was subtly sweet. Hojita soft serve alllll the way!!! I was invited to a Yelp elite event a while ago, and this review is long overdue! This cute little gem is located in the Stix Asia food court on the basement level of the Waikiki Shopping Plaza. They have green tea and hojita-flavored lattes, soft serves, and Japanese style parfaits. I was told that hojita was the most popular flavor. It was reminiscent of a creamy, nutty pistachio green tea. If I had to describe it to you. It was so good I went back every few days lol. I used to live 10 mins away, walking distance. There is a parking structure so if you're not walking, that's ok too. They validate and have a ton of other cute asian eateries downstairs as well. I lived in Kyoto, Japan for a few years and was excited to try this place in Oahu! The soft serve was super authentic. I got the hojicha w/warabimochi. My son tried ube ice cream for the first time and loved it, too! They had other flavors at the small ice cream place next to it, including strawberry shortcake, Kona coffee, etc. Service was fast and the basement food court stays open until 10pm with loads of Asian food options like pho, ramen, tempura, and more. We walked 15-20 minutes in the blazing Waikīkī sun to get here and, I have to say, by the time we arrived -- sticky, feeling disgusting, and dripping with sweat -- nothing sounded better than a cold sweet treat. For the kids or those avoiding caffeinated options, they had a seasonal yuzu passion fruit soft serve and also vanilla soft serve. We got the kids a vanilla soft serve with mochi to share, I got a hojicha soft serve with mochi, and my husband got a matcha soft serve cone with warabimochi. I wish I had gotten the warabimochi, which are little squares of chewy jelly mochi sprinkled in a powered; my husband actually preferred the regular mochi balls, which are more like rice balls. I enjoyed my hojicha a lot and liked the roasted flavor, but my husband preferred the matcha. So glad this place is back after being closed down for a few years! read more

We went to the STIX food hall, and saw this place to get a dessert after dinner in Waikiki. I saw they had a seasonal flavor, strawberry Sakura cone. The employees were so nice, they saw me eyeing it and told me to try a sample. I tried it and it was delicious, so I got a cone! If you love matcha and houjicha, you have to get some Nana's. I was feeling the mochi, so I ordered the houjicha/vanilla swirl with mochi (75 cents extra for 3 pieces). It hit the spot after our Tempura Kiki meal! 5% discount for Kama'aina if you bring ID. STIX apparently will validate for 2 hours now too! read more

My family came here a few times during our stay for our matcha and hojicha fix. The hojicha soft serve is soo tasty and not too sweet. They get the hojicha flavor just right. The added mochi was also super yummy, just wish they added more than 2 pieces. They are located inside of the stix food hall which has a good selection of Asian foods and plenty of seating. The service is nice and quick, didn't have to wait at all. My only qualm is that it is a little expensive for soft serve and for the size, but still tasted great! read more

We were already walking around STIX Asian food hall and stumbled upon Nana's Green Tea. I saw that they had soft serve and matcha tea so I asked about it. The staff member was kind to let me try the soft serve as I was curious. It was nice and creamy but not as creamy as the soft serve I tried in Japan. We had a small talk about milk fat at that point. I ended up ordering an iced matcha latte, less sweet with milk. It was perfect. I am trying to reduce my sugar intake and I enjoyed their version of the iced matcha latte. It was nice. The staff was nice too. Give them a try if you happen to be in the area. read more

Don't recommend the parfait. Prolly our fault for not paying attention as we wanted something bigger to share but there was only a small bit of hojicha ice cream and the rest was just vanilla!!!! The service was exceptional knowing that there was a line. I was able to get my order under 5min before other customers who were in front of me and ordered first. But for $13.00 I thought the parfait was mid! The corn flakes tasted like cheap cereal you could get from Walmart but the MATCHA was rich! That's what made it good, the matcha! Not to sweet which is what I admired, and no matcha clumps! read more

I love this chain and am so glad they have a taste of Japan in Waikiki! Although the price is a lot steeper than buying it in Japan, I have to say the quality and portions are still great. Nana's is in the middle of Stix, the underground Asian food marketplace. It seems clean, at least compared to some of the competition. The service is fast and friendly. They have plenty of seating near the counter. The mochi ice cream was good but not quite as strong as maiko. A little sweeter and creamier here, if that's your thing. The warabimochi was excellent but the waffle cone isn't. It was kind of stale and tasted like cardboard. read more

For drinks, we decided to get Nana's Green Tea. I've been to their Seattle location many times, so I was happy to see them in Honolulu too. This location is a booth located inside a strip mall. The workers were friendly and we got our order quickly. We ordered the Matcha Kuromitsu Latte and Azuki Strawberry Latte. Both of the lattes came with whipped cream and syrup. Generally, I was not a big fan of the Azuki Strawberry Latte. Perhaps I don't enjoy the Azuki beans that much. The Matcha Kuromitsu Latte was good, but I could do without the whipped cream and syrup. In conclusion, I would say that simple is better! I suggest ordering the regular lattes without the extra whipped cream and syrup. read more

Nana's Green Tea is nestled near the entrance of Stix Asian downstairs. It's a cute little stand. Simple menu of parfait, gelatos, and soft serve ice cream. It's a nice treat to get after dinner. We had the chocolate gelato and matcha with shiratama & azuki soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone. Considering this was our first time trying the treats, we gave it two thumbs up! It's light and not too sweet. I love the combo of soft serve with the chewy shiratama and a touch of azuki sweetness and waffle crunch all in a bite. Staff was friendly and fast service. Excellent matcha dessert place in Waikiki! I got the matcha ice cream, and my friend got the hojicha ice cream so we could try a taste of both flavors. Both were very rich and strong, just the way it should be! If you prefer lighter "matcha" ice cream that tastes closer to vanilla, then this isn't the place for you. But if you prefer a very rich and flavorful strong matcha ice cream, then you will love this place just like me! I'm definitely planning to return soon. read more

Love that this place is open. When I came home to visit 3 years ago they were closed for renovations. Happy to find this place that offers parfait options on hojicha as well! EVERY single time I go to Waikīkī to shop, I have to stop here and get my Kuromitsu Matcha Latte. I don't know what the dark syrup is that they swirl the matcha with but I can't get enough of it. Sometimes I buy 2 so I can take 1 home to an enjoy later. The prices are PRICEY but they do use premium Japanese matcha and that's Waikīkī tourist prices for ya! My kid gets the soft serve ice cream in a waffle come and he absolutely loves it! I wish they opened another shop outside of Waikiki because I hate the hustle and bustle of a tourist area. read more

For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries.
