This place never misses! One of the good matcha spots on the island. I got the Velvet Soy Matcha w/ the Soy Top (50% sweetness) and I'd say it's still quite sweet for 50%. But I think it's because of the Soy Top. It has tofu inside which elevates the drink... it's the perfect pair! The Ube Matcha (50% sweetness) was perfect as well. The sweetness was on point and the ube was really good. It didn't have an artificial taste to it. It wasn't busy when we went in so we got our drinks a few minutes after we ordered. There's a few seating outside the store but if theres plenty of places to sit outside of longs drugs/bank of hawaii across the street. Parking is a bit tricky though. There is limited street parking on the side of the road so you'd have to go around a few times to find street parking and walk. read more

The staff were nice and asked if we have questions about the menu. The vibe indoors was quiet and relaxing, and they have outdoor seating too. Decided to pop in on a Saturday evening. Free parking is available in the same structure the cafe is located. The restaurant is very clean and mondern. There wasn't lot of people in the cafe, but I noticed that there is a good amount of seating, lots of outlets and it's quiet so a great place for people to study, work, or just chill. There is also a bathroom for customers. The girl that took our order was nice and honest. She told us what she recommended and what she preferred which is why we got the Yuzu Matcha Soda and the Parfait. Surprisingly, we only waited around 5 minutes for our items. The Yuzu Matcha Soda was interesting. The yuzu taste wasn't as strong as I was hoping it was going to be but you can taste a hint of it. The matcha also isn't very sweet so I think the bitterness of the matcha cut out the tangy/sweetness of the the yuzu. I don't prefer carbonated drinks with my matcha, so I wouldn't get it next time and would just stick with a regular matcha latte. The Parfait was delicious though and I highly recommend it. You get a little taste of everything: ice cream, matcha, mochi, and soy milk. The white softserve topped with kinako powder tasted just like Mochi! The Parfait is also topped with sweet potato and matcha Mochi, it paired well with the sweet soft serve. There is matcha soft serve in the middle and it was good. It's definitely not that sweet. Overall, because I prefer matcha that isn't sweet or over powered with milk so I'd probably come back and try their other flavors. Love the matcha! This place is getting four stars strictly because of the service. The girl at the register was not happy to be there. She was honestly kind of rude. Her saving grace was the nice gentleman that was making our drinks. He was smiling and made our drinks quickly. All that said, this is probably one of my favorite matchas I've had by far. Maruwu is another new matcha spot in Waikiki from the mainland! They're one of my fave spots to grab matcha in the Bay Area. When my friend came to visit me in California, I took her there, and she liked it. When I came back to Oahu, she took me here, so funny. The shop is a bit hidden and tucked away. The space is quite small, with enough room to stand and wait in line to order. After ordering, you wait and take your drink to-go once it's ready. The shop is decked out in a bunch of Maruwu items. As well as a big menu and all their specials listed. Service was quite fast, considering we were one of the only customers. For my drink, I got their Velvet Soy Matcha with Oat Milk. It had a great earthy quality. The cream top was subtle and sweet, adding more depth to the drink. The soy tofu wasn't my personal favorite texture and taste-wise, but if you enjoy that, you'd probably like the drink. I do like their other matcha drinks as they're all very tasty. There are lots of matcha shops in Waikiki. I'm happy that Maruwu Seicha landed in Honolulu, and it's worth a visit for locals or tourists if you like matcha. I finally tried their Ube Latte Max; Max as it comes with a matcha snow cap. It was excellent...to the max...plus...ultra. Best ube beverage that I've had. To my knowledge, there's not really any parking nearby, so I would tack this place on when you're in the area. One of the few BEST MATCHA locations I've found in Oahu by far! My brother and I temporary parked our car in the small road right in-front of the shop and turned on our blinker lights (most people do it and it's totally fine haha) Fresh ingredients and tasted authentic.We got Strawberry Matcha latte with Matcha soft serve and Hojicha Latte with Hokkaido soft serve. Cute place that might be a little hard to find if you're not using something like Google or Apple Maps. Easier to spot when you're heading down the same street it's on due to the huge green soft serve cone on display- also makes for a good photo ops with your drink and/soft serve! There's only one chair located inside, and the shop itself is really small so this is more of a takeout shop. The menu is a little smaller compared to cafes I'm used to going to, but it looks like they are more focused on making matcha drinks which makes sense since that's what they're known for. So... I ended up getting their Hokkaido soft serve in a cup (they ran out of cones) but that's mostly because my friends like matcha a lot while I've never been a fan. In terms of how the Hokkaido soft serve tasted though, it was like tasting a sweet but not sweet ice cream version of condensed milk if that makes any sense. I tried this place in NorCal, but it was already right across the street from where we were having dinner (Ginza Bairin), so why not! It's extremely close by. Walking up to the front, you can't really notice it off the bat, but the sign on the store helps with finding it. I went ahead and tried the mango matcha latte, which was exclusively here in Hawaii. We also got the Yuzu Matcha Soda, but my bf sister didn't really like it lol. I didn't get to try it, but she said it was too much Yuzu flavor. Lots of matcha places have been popping up and this was on my list for a while. It is located in Waikiki, near Longs and Hard Rock Cafe. There's limited street parking, I was lucky to find one on a Sunday afternoon. Otherwise, you'll have to choose one of the surrounding parking garages. I was sad to see that it was poured out of an already made container of matcha, but it still tasted good. We did come back and try the black sesame hojicha, this wasn't my jam, it tasted like roasted watered down tea. I wish I had gotten another Ube matcha instead. Maruwu Seicha is one of Waikiki's newest matcha spots. It is difficult to find (even using Google maps). You have to walk inside of the Waikiki Heritage Hotel entry to find it. As a matchaholic, I was super excited to try Maruwu and made sure to add it to my bucket list while I was in Waikiki in January. Maruwu has an extensive matcha menu ranging from your typical matcha latte to matcha americanos and ube matcha lattes to matcha softserve. They also had matcha and hokkaido cheese tarts listed as coming soon. Prices are high with your no frill iced matcha latte coming in at $7.90 plus tax and tip. I ordered the MATCHA LATTE + HOKKAIDO SOFT SERVE ($9.90) as I wanted to try the best of all worlds and saw it featured on an Instagram reel. My brother ordered a MATCHA + HOKKAIDO SOFT SERVE ($7.50). Our total came out to over $20 for the both of us which is definitely on the pricey side for a couple of sweet treats. The quality of the matcha in the MATCHA LATTE was very good and you could tell that they use premium powder based on the dark green color and earthy taste. It was not astringent at all and I ordered the drink with half sweetness. The HOKKAIDO SOFT SERVE was smooth, lightly sweet, and refreshing. While I could adjust the sweetness of the drink, the ice levels were preset and I admit that 2/3 of my cup was just ice (see picture and hence the 3 stars). For a $10 drink, I just didn't think I got my money's worth and would rather go to Junbi down the street instead where I can get a 20-oz cup with no or less ice for the same price. The MATCHA + HOKKAIDO SOFT SERVE was good, but the matcha soft serve was nowhere nearly as concentrated as Nana's Green Tea's matcha soft serve (also down the street in Stix). As a matchaholic, I prefer my matcha soft serve stronger. The interior and exterior are beautifully designed and very aesthetic. It looks like a cafe you would come across in Japan. There is no seating though and so you have to take it to go and consume it while you walk around Waikiki. Service was decent and they had our drinks ready within 5 minutes or less (granted there was no one else in line). While Maruwu was good to try at least once, I think I'll be looking for other matcha spots to try on the island next time that give you more matcha for your money. This Japan-based matcha chain is slightly off the beaten path, so even at 8pm on a holiday weekend night, we were able to order right away and get our order fast. The soft serve was our favorite -- and we loved that we could get it with large, fresh mochi balls and red bean paste to further balance the mild sweetness. I also loved that the ube matcha latte wasn't artificial at all. The texture and taste screams real ube, and that really ensures the matcha doesn't get overpowered! I saw on social media that Maruwu Seicha opened so as soon as I sent this to my mom, she really wanted to go. Her and I are matcha fans! When we went, they had just opened a week or two ago so the line was looooong. Nonetheless, we decided to wait because we made the trip out there. The line moved fairly fast, and even getting your orders was pretty fast. The hardest part was figuring out where to wait while you're waiting for your order. They should have you wait in a designated spot because most people were waiting outside but waited inside and created traffic in there when the store itself is really small. I've been here twice and had both their matcha and Hokkaido milk swirl soft serve and a few of their lattes. Their soft serve is soo good! Honestly the best matcha soft serve on the island. I especially like it with the Hokkaido milk flavor because the Hokkaido milk is so creamy and has almost a cheesy taste which I find so unique and yummy. I really liked all of them, the matcha flavor was strong and easy to taste, and it paired nicely with the other flavors. While I know Waikiki prices are higher in general, the price felt extremely steep for the amount of drink I got. I was also confused about the pricing because the server asked if I wanted whole milk and half sweet without me prompting, and I said yes, not realizing until later that I was charged extra. I'm assuming it was for the (Hokkaido) whole milk, but that wasn't disclosed as an upcharge. I find it normal for shops to ask if you want to upgrade or change for an extra charge, but do not like how they assumed I would know. Also doesn't say anywhere on their menu. When I saw there was a matcha spot on Waikiki I knew I had to go. I really like the variety of menu items and had a hard time deciding but landed on a matcha ube drink. Offering usual items of various Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha what I love is that they also have their seasonal items which currently is Matcha Latte with Okinawa Boba, Ube Matcha Latte and Matcha Americano and I'm a seasonal lover since it's for a limited time I opted for the Hawaiian Ube and Matcha Latte which was very delicate the Ube was not too sweet while the matcha was smooth sip as it's definitely a stunning sip which I really enjoyed just wished the parking situation was better as access to this location is difficult be really worth the visit. What set Maruwu Seicha apart for me is the Hokkaido milk. I wish there was a stronger tea flavor, and 50% is their standard sweetness, but I could've gone a little less sweet. Parking can be tough though! Look for street around the area or do a shotgun run. They're still in the soft opening phase. Not sure when the grand opening is yet, but looking forward to those cheese tarts! read more

This may be my new matcha spot whenever im in Waikiki. Its hidden on a street near Hard Rock & Bank of Hawai'i. We arrived about 9 pm on a Saturday night and there was only one person ordering. It gave a Japan vibe with the astetics and location. The menu is pretty small. They have 4 choices of matcha categories to choose from. Their sesonal menu, Matcha latte, Hojicha latte and light series. I went with their matcha latte with the snow top and the other half went with their matcha latte with soft serve. You have a choice of either matcha or Hokkaido for the snow top/soft serve. Unfortunately, they were out of the Hokkaido soft serve but the matcha works just as good! The lattes were amazing, and my personal favorite was the Hokkaido snow top. I can only imagine how good the Hokkaido soft serve would taste. There are other options that we'll definitely be back for to try! Highly recommend if you're in the area and wanting to crave your matcha fix. read more

Tucked away in the busy streets of Waikiki there's a small nook for a late night matcha run. Matcha at 8:45 PM is diabolical when you have work the next morning but I could not pass the opportunity to try this place with my sister who flew in. Parking is a hassle in this area but my husband dropped us off and drove around until we were done. Luckily enough there was no line & our order took less than 5 minutes to make, so we were in & out in no time. I do wish they had the Hokkaido soft serve available but I will definitely be back for a drink & another soft serve while the sun is out to take advantage of the caffeine! I will add that my husband who does not like matcha said this matcha was actually pretty good. So for the matcha lovers out there this place is worth the try! read more

Stopped in and had the ube matcha latte, and wow -- so good. The ube added a subtly sweet, creamy flavor that paired perfectly with the earthy matcha. Not overly sweet, well-balanced, and super smooth. It felt indulgent but still comforting, and the color alone was gorgeous. Easily one of the better ube matcha lattes I've had -- I'd come back again just for this drink. read more
