    Seafood shanty side

Over the past several years I have passed this seafood shack dozens of times. Never had the opportunity to stop at it until today. I was surprised at how fresh the lobster was, and tender. The roll was grilled and still warm. I opted for it without mayonnaise and enjoyed the sweet, tender lobster without it. The onion rings were the thin sliced kind. Quite sweet with a thin, golden crispy coating. I'd definitely recommend giving this shack a try if you are in the area. As an added bonus they had fresh picked apples (Macintosh and Cortland) for sale by the half bushel.

The lobster roll was so fresh and delicious! Fish sandwich were huge, and of course I had to get the onion rings. 10/10!!!

We stopped here while exploring the area and had wonderfully fresh lobster rolls and onion rings, not to mention tasty lemonade. The women working there were fun and friendly. Charming stop and thumbs up from our group.

Such a cute little relaxing spot!

This was a great little spot . We were headed home from the beach and wanted to catch a quick bite to eat. The food was fresh and quite tasty . The ladies at the Shanty were super friendly and shared their Maine hospitality . We enjoyed our quick bite and some lively conversation as we waited on our food. Just know if you are stoping by be sure to have some cash on hand as they are a cash only restaurant . We will defiantly put this on our places to grab a bit when headed out to the beach.

Nance's Seafood Shanty...a seriously adorable "shack" on the side of the road. I happened upon this place while driving and decided to stop without having read any reviews. Nance was very nice and happily fried up my clams with a crumb and batter mix. I also tried the lobster roll, which at $11 seemed to be a bargain. It wasn't, really. It was a tiny lobster roll, made with chicken lobsters if I had to guess. The clam basket was also skimpy on the clams - she was heavy handed with the fries though. The lobster roll and fried clams were honestly delicious; the fries were just ok as they were fried in the same oil as the seafood. I'm not a fan of that. Up the portions a bit and I'd happily give a higher rating.

The lobster roll. Wish I had a photo from the side so you could see all the lettuce.

The clam chowder was buttery and full of meat and potatoes, but could have used a bit of corn starch to thicken it up. The bacon wrapped scallops were good but could have used a maple glaze or thicker bacon to enhance the flavor of the bacon. The mozzarella sticks were gooey and full of cheese but needed a bit more seasoning in the breading. Overall, the food was tasty and not overpriced. This is a great place for a family lunch outing on a nice day. Service: The cashier was nice and helpful. Ambience: The restaurant has a small gift shop inside that has a bunch of cute gift options. There are multiple small picnic bench areas under an awnings and with a view of the water. This is a great spot and I look forward to trying out more of their menu.

Everything from the food to the service was not just disappointing, it was offensive. They close at 4, we got there at 3:30 and were rushed the entire time. We ate outside. We asked for umbrellas for the picnic tables but they wouldn't provide them because they had already put them away as part of their closing chores. The teenagers were pushy about collecting our trays and were clearly motivated to leave by 4:00. The scallops were disappointing. They were flavorless and tough. The real reason for this review though was Anna herself. I'm still in shock at the way we were treated. She inappropriately yelled at my child for climbing on some maritime object. She embarrassed her and crushed her in front of everyone. It's a greasy spoon, family friendly restaurant with open fields where kids play. Kids make mistakes. And we tell our kids when they're making mistakes. But if an owner has items so precious to her, she could put up signs, fence things off, or just not leave them out in the open. She also could communicate her needs to people, including children, respectfully. But she didn't. I spoke with Anna privately at the end of the night saying she didn't have to scorn my child. She could have spoken to me or communicated without shaming her but she double-downed on her offensiveness, aggressively continuing to insult my child to my face. She behaved as if she was looking for a fight and needed a target to unleash her aggression on. In any event, as long as Anna is running Anna's restaurant, we will never return and I told her that. I don't think she will mind, she seemed to not want our business from the moment we got out of our cars today. I've just never experienced such ugly behavior before. She should be ashamed of herself. Maybe she's unwell and needs emotional and mental support. Tonight I'll pray that God gives her some grace and hopefully she can find some peace so she won't have to take out her aggression on her guests' children.
