Delicious. The kids got the buttermilk pancakes and eggs. My husband got a big meaty omelette that he devoured. I got the feta omelette with no Mushrooms, breakfast potatoes and OMG SO GOOD. Wish we lived closer. The elderly woman clean tables works so hard and still stopped to smile and say hello, the staff is super kind and helpful. Probably top 5 breakfast places ever. Too bad. We stopped on a Sunday morning, so we expected busy and it was. The bus girl/hostess brought us menus and iced tea. Then we sat and watched the server take orders from three....fucking three tables that came in after us. Even worse was the major number of flies in the dining area. We went here for Father's Day brunch and the place was packed! The staff was hustling. I've never seen it so busy here, and they were handling it very well. The food that came out was excellent and the ladies were in good spirits and very friendly. We always enjoy coming here when we're passing through town. I've wanted to try this place for a long time. I've heard the pie is awesome...but we were just looking for dinner. You can either fly in or drive in to eat here. Plenty of parking for cars and planes. I decided to try the Firecracker burger...which was pretty good. It came with French fries...which were pretty good too. It was a little pricey, but not outrageous. This place serves Coke product...sorry Pepsi folks. Service was good but the place wasn't busy. Our food came relatively quick and was cooked to order. I finally had a chance to have the food at Nancy's, and not just their delicious pies. We decided to pick up breakfast and lunch from here, and I called my order in ahead of time since they were pretty busy when I came in before. The food was ready in about 15 minutes, and I was able to pay and grab everything right away. We stopped in Tuesday morning September 7 2021 on the way to the Sacramento Airport and ate breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak, eggs, hash browns, english muffin, my daughter had one of the skillet plates, we enjoyed the food very much. The restaurant was very clean as well as the restrooms. The waitress was very friendly, Service was very good. The wait time for our food was as fast as any restaurant I've been to. A great little place to fly in for lunch. Whether as a destination or in route. We flew in from Reno for lunch and it's the friendliest place. Love the warm country feeling in the decor. This is really one of my favorite places to stop and eat at when I travel along Highway 5. The walls are covered with photos, the food is good, the service friendly, the prices are reasonable and it seems caught in a time before large chains, with predicable food, replaced local restaurants along our highways. If you stop for a meal here don't be concerned if you see groups of men in camouflage clothing and soot covering their faces. They are bird hunters, not terrorist. I guess the geese and ducks think they are gun totting murders. After spending the morning at the nearby Sacramento refuge in Willows Snooky and I stopped here. It was a Sunday and they were packed, I think we got the last table. The waitress was friendly and seemed to know each guest, with the exception of the soot faces, by name. I had the senior chicken fried steak. It well under 9 dollars. It includes choice of soup or salad from the salad bar. There was also a choice of potatoes or vegetables. Even more surprising it included a drink and a slice of their homemade pie. I really thought the food was tasty and the price was sure right Snooky had a regular grilled salmon dinner for 12.99. The large slice of fish was severed on a bed of rice and included potatoes. The regular dinners so not include pie, salad, or a drink. His first comment was the cook can really cook. Since I don't eat pork, the only item appealing to me was the "Popeye Skillet" Made with spinach, mushrooms, swiss cheese and I substituted ground beef for the bacon. The Conclusion: After hearing so many great things about Nancy's, I wanted to love it before ever trying it. But, love just wasn't meant to be. My best description would be, a diner in between Black Bear Diner, IHOP and Denny's but, with a better wait staff. The food was just okay. Nothing to brag about. I thought the portions were small and the food was bland. Whenever I have to doctor my food up with hot sauce, pepper and ketchup after my initial bite, there's an issue. But, In Nancy's and my friends defense. I did state I opted for breakfast well after the noon hour. Maybe there's something there. Maybe past the lunch hour, I should have ordered from either the lunch or diner menus. I'll return soon and try something from either the lunch or dinner menus. Fun to watch the airplanes. Breakfast served all day. Large portions, amazing fries, and great place to stop on I5. Super friendly staff and a great lemon meringue pie. No obvious gluten free options, but eggs and potatoes and salads. Dog friendly and two outdoor areas for eating. All patrons are wearing masks when not seated and not eating. read more
