The worst service in Chico CA. We received our food with a hair, in it and the waitress smiled and offered to get us another plate. . The waitress then proceeded to bring back a dirty plate with cold food on it the second time. Then they all kind of sat in a circle, just smiling and thinking the whole situation was funny. The manager wouldn't come out and talk to us. Don't waste your money.

    All American platter with bacon.

Don't order the Benedict's. Wife ordered traditional and I had the Santa Barbara. All 4 poached eggs were hard.

Best part? My gluten-eating family who could have gone ANYWHERE also loved their meals. No pity plates. Everyone won. Our college student requests this place every single time we visit which tells you everything you need to know. They don't have a car, so we are essentially their personal Uber and we are okay with it as long as we end up here. A rare and beautiful thing.

We asked for a table outside because she can't hear well, and the cafe was bustling and loud. The staff seated us, but had to move tables around outside. The hostess and a "regular" of the cafe said things like "this is what we do in a tourist economy." "We have to accommodate the tourists." As if we were a bother and they were bending over backward to accommodate us. Because my mother in law was there, and she is emotionally raw right now, I avoided conflict. So I'll say now, what I wanted to say to those snarky, rude employees Thursday: My husband's family has had a plot in the Taylorsville cemetery for longer than those two ladies been alive -- combined. His grandmother had 2 restaurants in Greenville. His mother is a fixture in the community, living through the Dixie fire and coming back to rebuild her life. Now she'll bury her husband there. My sister and brother in law worked in public service in Quincy for decades. We aren't tourists. And even if we were, you were incredibly unwelcoming. You made a sad day worse. The food was fine.

The restaurant is super cute, the breakfast food came out hot and fast which was a problem, because I made the rookie mistake of bringing my college student. That plate was gone before I could say "how's school going." I ate my breakfast at a carefully guarded, leisurely pace from the far side of the table like a lioness protecting her kill. No heartburn. No regrets. Service was great, food was delicious, vibes were immaculate.

Cute spot with booths all over and a friendly staff. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which is on a croissant with smoked bacon strips, avocado, mixed greens, bacon jam and two eggs. Instead of the potatoes, I got fruit for an additional $3.49. The sandwich was ok and I usually like bacon jam but I didn't like how sweet it was on this. The fruit was a sliver of orange, a very soft and super thin sliver of flavorless watermelon, a few slices of strawberries, a handful of blueberries and a ton of thin sliced apple. It wasn't great and I gave the apples away. I would have preferred just berries and for the additional cost, it would have been worth it. Randy ordered The (Not So) Standard Benedict and said it was only ok. He didn't like the super soft potatoes that came with it so he didn't eat many of them. His very thin slice of watermelon on his plate was also soft and flavorless. Our friend ordered the French toast and said it was good. I don't think we'd go back but we really appreciated the attentive server we had.

I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.

Each time we have gone, prices have been reasonable, portions good, service excellent, and the food great. It's an old mid-century diner (looks like an old Sambo's to me, similar to, but different from the classic Denny's buildings of that area) so has a great diner ambience. Service is friendly and very attentive. Chicken fried steak, huevos rancheros, and buttermilk pancakes are excellent (5 stars). Corned beef hash of very good (4 stars). They also offer a side of one pancake with some dishes instead of toast, and I really like that. Very few places still do that and they get extra points for that option. Chicken fried steak has a nice crispy coating and is nicely cooked. The buttermilk pancakes are particularly excellent. Not too big, nicely toasty on the outside, light on the inside.

Served super hot so don't burn your mouth but it is delicious. 12.99 Mom got the jacks classic burger on the senior menu and it came with a drink and fries or salad. She went with fries and added a cup of chili as well. The fries were perfect and absolutely wonderful when dipped in the chili! Didn't even need ketchup! Burger was well done as requested and a nice size - she got some mustard but didn't even add ketchup. 13 bucks I think! Honey had the three pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns and got bacon instead of sausage. Pancakes were perfect and he of course got the blackberry syrup which has just a simple wonderful flavor! If you are sitting with someone that has some chili grab a spoonful or two and add it to the hash brown and egg! Super tasty! 12.99 Great service both the waitress and manager were awesome and super attentive! Good conversation and smiles! The booths are comfortable and it's nice and warm which makes it nice when you are with people who always tend to be cold!! I fully support this place and love that they are still in business and have special hours! They aren't open late anymore and that's fine with me! Stop in and support locally owned long term businesses they deserve your support and are cheaper than a fast food meal!
