I saw all the positive reviews and decided to try this nail salon out last week. I came in with a simple inspo picture of glitter French tip nails and let the front desk man know I was asking for design, but unfortunately the nail tech could not get the glitter polish to show up well on top of the white. To make things easier I said let's just keep a simple French tip. She shaved off the polish and redid it, cool. I go to pay for my service and noticed a charge for 'custom shape $5' which was odd considering my shape was basic square nothing custom about it. I asked the front desk man why the charge and he couldn't give a clear answer, and settled on that the custom shape charge was to compensate the nail tech for the time she wasted doing the glitter tip that she had to remove. So because the nail tech wasn't honest about not being able to do the design, wasted both my time and hers attempting to do it, I was being charged $5 extra? I've been getting my nails done for over 15 years now and have never been charged because a nail tech had to redo a polish. I then showed him the inspo pic and my nails I ended up leaving with, the photos below are how my nails looked IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE SALON. My middle nail started turning yellow while at the desk, the French tip was wrinkly, like a hot mess! He ended up removing that bizarre $5 charge but what really blows me is sneaking charges on my service then fixing his mouth to ask me for a tip! He offered to have the nail tech fix them but why would I let her keep playing on my nails when she couldn't do it right the first few times? And I still tipped them after having my nails played with for 2 hours!! So go here at your own risk maybe don't ask for anything other than simple polish and be aware of extra charges on your receipt.

That positive experience is reflected in this rating. I returned last Sunday around mid-day for a gel manicure + pedicure. Within a few hours, the polish began lifting on one toe, and shortly after, another toe followed. By the next day, it was clear the gel polish was failing. After thinking it through my service, I realized the pedicure was done differently than my manicure. The lotion was done before the gel polish, and the nails were not prepped/buffed beforehand. My manicure, which followed proper prep and order, has held up as expected. This was especially disappointing because these nails were done for a special occasion and I needed the longevity of gel. While it may seem small, it was upsetting to see the polish come off so quickly. I plan to reach out directly, as I'm hopeful Lilah's will be willing to help make this right. I've enjoyed my past experience here and truly hope this was a one-off issue due to an oversight during the pedicure. I will update as needed.

A week later, another chip on a different nail. I am very accustomed to getting Russian manicures and normally pay around $90-$120 in Del Mar. I've never had my nails break or chip at my usual spot. It was also really surprising to be charged $35 for gel removal. The staff did give me a refund but I did want to come on to offer an honest review given how expensive this service is.
