    Miso Ramen. 2026-05-07.

Had a hankering for ramen and went and checked out Naniwa-Ya ramen. Over all, it was good but nothing exceptional. Keep in mind they're a mostly takeout place and the Lunch rush is their main meal. Service was good and decent prices. It's an option when a quick lunch is needed when in downtown.

We stopped for lunch and a friend of mine and I chose to eat here. I ordered the Kimchi since I had never tried it before. It was not very spicy although I thought it was supposed to be. The broth was really good and had lots of flavor. The noodles had a great texture. Overall the Kimchi could have had more flavor and less soggy and crunchy vegetable husks. My friend ordered the Shoyu Ramen and gave it a 7/10, nothing crazy good but definitely worth eating. We also ordered the Gyoza which was really good in my opinion although my friend didn't love them. I asked for a water cup and they charged me for a water bottle and gave me one which I did not want.

Sadly, my favorite place at the Ala Moana food court, the curry house, which does an amazing Japanese curry, considering it's "fast food", closed after some 30 years. I will have to visit one of their other local restaurants.... I was looking around the other vast offerings at the food court, and I found this place. For "mall ramen", it was extremely good! I started with three wonton. They were decent sized, they were done very well, they were tender, and they were delicious. The beef sukiyaki Ramen was also very good. It didn't have a lot of "stuff" in it, I thought it would come with an egg, but apparently you have to order that separately. The broth was rich, and not too salty, the noodles were just the right texture, and the generous portion of beef was very very good. It had a great flavor and it was not too chewy like it can be. he noodles were very thin. I like my Ramen with a thicker noodle, I'm not sure if different types of Ramen have different noodles. I like Ramen, but I'm not an expert. Lol. It was still a very, very good meal. I would come back. Thank you.

Located in the Ala Moana food court, this place wasn't too busy so my son and I decided to take a chance here as soup did sound good for a rainy day. We ordered the spicy ramen and gyoza. Our food was made quick and we didn't have to wait too long which really convenient for us. The ramen noodles were good and it wasn't actually that spicy. The noodles had a good taste, and it didn't give off a flour taste. I really liked the bamboo that was inside. Everything was good, and prices were decent. Would come here again.

Located in the Ala Moana Center Food Court, the food is great and I would recommend the Spicy Ramen. Service is quick and you'll have your ramen in less than 10 minutes. The broth is warm and the spice is wonderful. There is plenty of vegetables, meat, and ramen to fill you up. If you park in the garage facing Ala Moana Blvd and enter through the entry door next to Jollibee, you'll see Naniwa-Ya Ramen on your right. The hardest part is finding a table. If you come with another person, I highly recommend one person finds a table while the other places the order.

Naniwa-Ya Ramen is located on the first floor of the Ala Moana Center in the food court area. There are many food court choices but today we decided to try another new ramen place while doing some shopping. The ramen doesn't come with the soft egg so we ordered 2 on the side. The service is pretty quick when not busy and you'll get a pager. When your order is ready, the pager will buzz you to pick up your order. They pack your order as if it's "to go." We ordered the miso ramen and vegetable ramen. Overall, it's pretty good. The miso broth was just right and not too salty. The veggie broth was ok, a bit on the light flavor side. I wish they added more veggies.

It was ok I was looking forward to eating there noodles didn't really catch my taste buds it was ok the calamari noodle I was Expecting more to it but I guess that was it.The gyoza was small and bottom of it was burnt so I don't think I'll order that again there's so much choices to Choose from maybe I'll come Back and try another ramen and see how I feel about it next time I won't give up coming here on the first try.I did like the Manapua tho.

Meh, just wanted a quick snack and that's exactly what I received. Very busy afternoon at the food court, received a pager for my order and it was ready pretty fast. pricing is based on how many pieces you want, I got 5 pieces for $4.75. Soy sauce packet thrown on top of the food instead of portioned into a small container is tacky.

I am with my fellow Yelpers. There wasn't anything that jumped out at me when I ate at Naniwa-Ya Ramen located at the Ala Moana Center's Food Court. I was with a group of friends. Everyone seems to have their own desire of cuisine. I had a crave for noodle soup. So, I went to get ramen with a side order of gyoza. It was a weeknight and no line at all. My dishes came out pretty quick. I kind of question on my food preparation. Yup. The big box made gyozas look so tiny. I could eat all 4 pieces in my bite. Ramen was so-so. Flavors seemed to be okay. But I tasted better ramen before.

    Farrah R.

They give you a pager which vibrates when your order is ready. You go fetch your food, so no service. It's located in the mall food court, a huge cafeteria feel. The y was a flour taste with the first bite of udon, the bowl contained one slice of fish cake and two pieces of fried tofu which were actually tofu skins, the broth had flavor but didn't taste fresh, probably reconstituted. Disappointing for $13. I was still hungry afterwards.

    Gyoza. So tiny.
    Maile K.

Very touristy. Portion size is really small. The gyoza are so tiny. Frozen & reheated in the microwave. The staff thought I was dumb, that I didn't see that my gyoza were not on the flat top. They were put, scorching hot, into the takeout box, and according to G.R., anything that is served that hot has been heated in the microwave. I wasn't expecting a gourmet gyoza, but maybe something a little more than, "I could have done this at home.". The flavor and texture are exactly the same as the frozen ones I did prepare at home last week, that was twice as many. The restaurant was not busy at 3:30pm on a Tuesday afternoon, so making a fresh batch would have given the staff something to do, other than standing around squawking with eachother in a foreign language. If that had been done, I would have left a tip. Live and learn.

They have the best ramen and a wide variety of delicious side dishes such as dumplings and steamed buns.

The sauce to dip the noodles in was good. It was flavorful, salty, and sweet. My wife had a bowl of ramen. I got to try the soup and it tasted really good. I also like how thick it was. I don't like thin soup on my ramen, so this I really liked. My daughter was gulping down her noodles... just shoving it into her mouth. That is a huge thing for me because she's picky with food. We also had the potato mochi. I also liked that one. It had good texture, crunch, and chew. It was brushed with a glaze. The flavor was good. I'm not a chicken karaage guy. But I'm mentioning it because we ordered it. The chicken karaage were good chunks of chicken. Not like other places who give small chunks. My wife liked it because it had more chicken than batter. Service - The Place had good service. The food came out on time. Servers were checking up on us without hovering or being overbearing. They paid attention when we called asking for help. I was listening to the workers, and they seem to like being there. I mean, "work is work", and no one REALLY LIKES going to work. I'm pretty sure we'd all rather be someplace else besides work. Maybe I caught them in a good mood, but, it genuinely seemed like the moral in the place was good and the people working there that night didn't mind being there. Vibe - Small, family vibe. I liked that there was buzz but it wasn't loud. When we came, most of the people there were older, but as we left later in the evening, a more younger crowd started lining up and coming in. That tells me, they appeal to a wide demographic/pallet, which is good. Overall, it's going on the list of places to go back to and recommend. I don't really like going to ramen places during the summer because it's hot. But I would go here.

The quality of the food has been consistent. It's a bit warm inside, but you'll find some good table areas that are cooler. I was disappointed by the service today, especially because there was less people between 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM when I went. The staff had automatically thrown in green onions and tempura flakes, which was not requested. They were just throwing in things without the usual ask they do. Especially, this hurt most when there was a rude lady staff passing out toppings. My family member had kindly requested for green onions a few times, and mind you again, we did not have a line when we entered in, but this lady snickered and ignored her request. I had to sternly request for green onions which eventually happened. The service should not be this way. This is an amazing restaurant, but the experience was utterly ruined from that service experience.

They are currently exploring a new concept, which is a bit different from what it used to be. There's quite a bit of items missing from their old menu, but they have included new dishes to try. I got their Beefy Gold which has a lighter broth. I also ordered a side of yuzu peel & juice, reminiscent of the yuzu shio ramen. I'd say that the broth is pretty good (light broth is gentle to the stomach), and the noodles were cooked well. You'll probably miss the fatty chunk of charsiu, but they now have pulled beef charsiu instead which is stringy and just as flavorful :) Service was friendly as always and they were very attentive to our needs. The open kitchen concept is nice, the restaurant feels much larger, and overall the new location is more inviting than the old one. Unfortunately, the food and menu changes were a big disappointment for me. The old location had a much larger menu with plenty of ramen options, while the new menu is limited to just three choices. The ramen itself doesn't taste the same, and even the noodles seem different. The biggest letdown was the chashu--it used to be served as a whole slice of pork, but now it's more of a shredded meat style that lacks the same appeal and texture. Adding to that, the new location currently doesn't have a liquor license, which takes away part of the dining experience. While the new space is beautiful, I left missing the food and variety that made Kamitoku one of my favorite ramen spots. Hopefully they'll bring back more of what made the original location special.

Overall, what had been something we'd been looking forward to for years turned out to be a dismal disappointment. The experience left us feeling unwelcome, particularly because it seemed the staff were uncomfortable with two men simply going out for lunch. Being a Black and Asian couple shouldn't have any bearing on how paying customers are treated, but unfortunately, that's how the experience felt to us. We can overlook mediocre food or service, but feeling judged or unwelcome is something we won't overlook. We were there as paying customers and deserved to be treated with the same courtesy and respect as anyone else. Unfortunately, this is a place we won't be returning to, and based on our experience, we would not recommend it to others.
