I stopped by Nano's Taco Run today for the first time in years since I happened to be on that side of town. I went through the drive-thru and ordered two potato, bacon, egg, and cheese tacos with a tea. Somewhere along the way there was a mix-up because when I got halfway down the road, I realized I had only been given one taco. That one taco was a mixed experience. The filling itself was honestly very good. The eggs, potatoes, and bacon were all cooked well and seasoned nicely. Salsa was well flavored as well. The downside for me was the tortilla. It tasted and felt premade, about the same quality as something you'd grab from the bread aisle at HEB. That's a big pet peeve of mine, especially in a taco heavy town like Corpus. I just can't fully get behind a taco spot using premade tortillas instead of fresh homemade ones. The cheese also seemed like pre-shredded bagged cheese, which added to that feeling. Not a terrible experience overall, but probably not a taco I'd go out of my way for again. read more

From the outside, this place might look a little rough around the edges, but once you step inside, things start to look up. It seems like they've been gradually upgrading from the top down, though some areas still show a bit of wear and tear. The woman at the counter was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We're from out of town and were eager to try some of the amazing breakfast tacos we've had on past trips to Texas. The menu was a little different from what we're used to back home, so we had a lot of questions. She never made us feel rushed and took her time to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. And wow--the food was outstanding! Every dollar not spent on decor is clearly invested in the food, and it shows. The breakfast tacos were delicious, reasonably priced, and the perfect way to start the day. The woman at the counter recommended her favorite, the carne asada breakfast taco, and let me tell you--it did not disappoint. The carne asada was perfectly seasoned, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick to tie it all together. It's the kind of no-frills spot where you know the food is going to be amazing--and it delivers. Don't let the exterior fool you--this is a hidden gem worth discovering. We ordered 2 regular tacos and one jumbo taco. The jumbo was $7. They said the jumbo taco was massive. We got 3 tacos all the same puny size and they told our friends in the car behind us that there is no jumbo taco? After telling us the size of the jumbo taco?? It made 0 sense, we over paid for a shrimpy taco that was priced as "jumbo" and then lied to our friends behind us. Being gaslit by a taco company was not on my bucket list. Counter Service. Very friendly nice ladies took our order. She gave me sample of the carne guisada and it is delicious! I had to order one. It was quick and we could see them making fresh tortillas in the back. Prices are cheap! I can't believe how low the prices are considering the price of food nowadays. This is my morning taco stop, but they are hit or miss. Sometimes their tacos are great others they have tiny tortillas or the egg is so wet the tortilla sticks to the paper and falls apart when you unwrap it. The prices are also getting a little high. Today is my last day going. It was the 2nd time in 2 weeks I have gone by 15-20 mins after they are supposed to be open and the door is still locked (even with the open sign lit). read more

A 5 star is hard to get from me as I do not give them out lightly. However, Nano's changed my breakfast taco mindset. I had chorizo and egg as well as their spam and egg tacos when I visited. The tortilla was perfect and big. Most taco restaurants I've eaten at have small tortillas, not Nano's! For $2.35 per taco that I got I would've probably paid well over $3 for. Also the sauce that was provided was the best I've ever tasted! Amazing and helpful staff who refunded me when they realized they made a slight mistake on my ticket which I didn't even notice. If we are ever in the Corpus Christi area again, we will be stopping at Nano's! read more

The hot sauce is the best, you can tell they put some love into the food they make. The staff is really nice and I get fast service when I'm there. This place always has yummy food and allows our cross country team to come unwind and have a bite. I applaud the business because they never complain when we come in (20+) hungry athletes and parents. The food is good! It's your typical local taco place in the neighborhood. If you want pristine conditions head up the road to Chick Fil A. The place does not look old but has an older kind of feel to it. I must admit the chicken is good and the amount they give you is more than enough. Haven't been inside the restrooms so they may be great, just have never gathered the courage to do so. Plus I always say grace before I eat, so I pray away the invisible germs LOL Also the drive through is Never ending so everyone else must have the same sentiments of good food no matter how the inside may look. This was my first time visiting Nano's and I will not be back. 1 stars, for the name because they will have you running to work they are so slow and for the first employee who tried her best given the lack of product and apologizing for the other rude employee. I ordered 4 tacos and a soda, simple enough, not for nanos. Also, there was only car ahead of me and none behind the entire time I was there so it wasn't like it was hectic or busy. I was told they had no carne guisada bc it had not been made- I don't eat eggs. ok no biggie I ordered the beef fajita instead, potato bean and bacon, steak and egg, and egg, chz, and bacon for my husband. Get to the second window and then was told they have no steak either... ok , I was not offered a refund and nothing else on the menu costs that much... fine. I order another bacon, egg and chz, and reluctantly order the chicken fajita upon employee prompting. Another employee hands me a bag from outside the restaurant. I say excuse me mam... once she returns inside she opens the window from inside and rudely asks me " did you call me" I ask for my diet Coke and tell her there is a taco missing. She proceeds to tell me she doesn't know what I ordered bc there are two exes on the receipt and no one told her anything, I try to explain they were out of steak bust she interrupts me, clacks her nails at me - that btw are too long for food service (I'm instantly grossed out) and grabs the bag away. Later the 1st employee hands me the order and realizes she has still forgotten some items. That's ok I'm still there and hey it's only been 25 mins( insert eye roll) :(. I get home one street away and the bag almost rips open bc it is soaked in grease, the tacos are cold with exception to fajita, the potatoes are dried out and crunchy like they were cooked on a different day, and the tortillas are a kind of raw yellowish color, under cooked, chewy; and too much lard/ not like the fluffy, white tortillas pictured on their instagram. Overall between the lack of product the menu states they have , being overcharged, the 25 min wait, my order being incomplete twice, the disgusting food, and the rude employee I will not be returning and telling everyone else to avoid it. read more

At my favorite taco joint (again) this is my third time here in a row. So freaking good. Their home made tortillas and hot sauce is to die for. So spicy and yummy at the same time. And I don't even like spicy food. But the burn is worth it, IMO. Is it fully celiacs friendly? The food is most definitely gluten free, but cross contamination is quite possible. Given how busy they are, I'm sure it's very quite possible. It's also run by the family, and celiac is something quite hard to grasp unless you've sat down and read about it. Let's just say I do have canker sores in my mouth and was flatulence the whole day, maybe minor headaches as well but no runny you know what. Then again I recently ingested some chocolate that I didn't realized until later that it was contaminated with wheat. I know I know FML. So is it fully celiac friendly? Not sure is going to be my answer. Was it yummy and worth it? Yes! I love it! Even if it kills me a little (maybe). My final advise: Proceed as you wish, don't blame anyone but yourself if you get sick. Highly recommended for everyone else! I have only ever had their breakfast tacos and they are pretty tasty, and if it was just for that I would give this place 3-4 stars. However, my experience today really surprised me. I asked for a carne asada taco and what I got was some sort of mystery meat cut. It was not pleasant to eat and it cost $3.50 to boot. I hate to say this, but this is literally the worst taco I have had in my life. I would not recommend anyone to order "carne asada" from here. Great little hole in the wall Mexican place. They serve breakfast and lunch, and they cook to order. They have breakfast and lunch specials daily, and they even have barbacoa on the weekends. For what it is, it can't be beat. Delicious breakfast tacos generously loaded with fillings and made to order. Amazing fluffy tortillas. Cheap, cheap prices. It's totally no-frills, no ambience, no nonsense (and I think no credit cards!) but absolutely worth every penny and far better than most other establishments of its type. I'd be surprised if there's a better place to get breakfast in town besides my husband's mama's house. It kicks most of the Mexican places in DFW in the arse, that's for sure. I was there around 10 on saturday morning and they were out of barbacoa :( I had 2 tacos (bean egg and cheese; carne guisada with cheese). My friend had the potato egg and cheese. Holy cow---- these tacos are HUGE!! I can usually put away 3-4 breakfast tacos when I am hungry (which I was)...but I could barely finish these 2!! I will say their hot sauce was spicy but flavorful. I heard this place was seriously a diamond in the rough, and I can say without a doubt that those people are correct. I'm a huge fan of breakfast tacos and homemade Mexican tacos, so I came here with high expectations due to all the talk, and left extremely satisfied. The tacos are really well made, and although the wait time from the drive thru may have taken quite a while, that doesn't deviate from my overall review of this business. I have yet to go on a Sat/Sun to try their barbacoa options, but I know for certain that I wouldn't be disappointed. GREAT taco place in the Corpus area. Called ahead and made sure they were open and that they were serving breakfast tacos. Go through drive-thru and order one potato and egg taco and a water. The total came out to $5 which is more expensive than most places. They said to pull my car around back and they'd bring out my order. I ended up being their last customer, they brought out my order 20 minutes later... this is where I wished I'd checked my order but I was in a convertible and the mechanic next door came up to my car and started conversation, as sweet as he was, he wouldn't stop talking and I was ready to get out of there. I had been craving a potato and egg taco since the beginning of quarantine, and staying on north beach which is very far from Nano's Taco Run. I came specifically out of my way to get out of my house because of the mental stress. I then drove to the beach to see the ocean, took out my taco and opened it on my lap. Grease streamed out of it, it was absolutely disgusting and I was disappointed to find not what I ordered, it was some sort of egg and chorizo maybe... I don't eat meat. I don't see how they could've messed up my order. Felt like I got jipped. I had even just supported their business on social media. Anyways, I will never come here again. Placed order at 6:33am picked food up as I was coming from store at 6:40am (literally the lady takes my credit card) as driving home 6:42am take a taco out to eat noticed it was cold. Check all other tacos and same thing. Call and speak to lady there ask why and the only thing she can tell me is it should be hot! I'm not a cook or anything but there is no way that my cheese on my beans shouldn't be melted. My potatoes cold to the touch! Which now leaves me to believe they store their food and sometime reheat it. First time this has ever happen to me. Receipt and call history don't lie when putting the time it took from order to receive. In 7 minutes no way in hell should ANY of my tacos be cold like they were taken out the refrigerator and someone forgot to warm up yesterday's food! Last time I will ever eat her which I'll let others know as well. There are other taco places out there with fresh cooked food daily. While reading other reviews I just noticed this issue with cold food has happened in the past. I guess management there condones this type of behavior to save a buck. Decided to try it out based on some websites naming it as the best place for breakfast tacos. Chaco's Taco's and Hi-Ho are closed on Sundays. Flour Tortillas are suppose to fluffy. These were large but flat. I saw them making them but it seemed the corn tortillas were from yesterday. I've never been to a place that charged extra for onions and cilantro on a barbarcoa tacos, they did. Potatoes on my plate were not fresh. Prices for breakfast tacos were on the high end for Corpus. One taco and a basic breakfast plate was over $11.00 in total. I'm never shy of sketchy places but my first clue should have been the staff conversation. The counter person was on the phone and relaying the information from the caller to the kitchen staff. She told them the caller was insisting that the kitchen staff put a hair net on their beard. Two guys had beards. As I was leaving I did see that they had in fact put on beard hair nets. I say if you are thinking about going to Nano's Taco Run just keep running. I went here solely based on a photo from "Amy D" showing two freshly-fried corn shells for their crispy tacos. This isn't the case at all. The crispy tacos were soggy, the beef was cold, and tasted oddly like powdered vegetable soup base. The chicken tacos were much more flavorful, but still soggy. The shells are straight out of a box, and aren't heated / ovened to make them crispy. Extremely disappointing. Maybe their other fare is better, but I'm not going to waste my time finding out. As an aside, they closed 15 minutes early the night before, so this was my second attempt at trying their tacos, making it all that much more of a disappointment. read more
