After reading reviews online, we wanted to find a spot for breakfast tacos. This place came recommended. Was easy to find. When you come in you could sit anywhere. We opted for a table for two. There was a few people in the restaurant, which is always a good sign. We got there closer to 11 o'clock although we want a breakfast tacos we just couldn't get there earlier. The one drawback is that they charge you one dollar per taco extra if you order a breakfast taco after breakfast time. There's really no rhyme or reason to do this. We started out the meal with chips and salsa. The only one problem with that was the amount of salt in the salsa almost inedible. We opted for three tacos each. I had a mix of chorizo and potato., bean and cheese, bacon, and beans . All breakfast tacos were served on flour tortillas, which were slightly more puffy than the average. We also ordered one Carne guisada taco. All in all the tacos were good. Probably not a place we would rush back to. All in price was 54.00 for 6 tacos , chips and salsa. read more

I'm new to the area and needed a good local (authentic) taco place and I'm pretty sure this place is it. However, I would imagine that, depending on your taste, it might be hit or miss, but that is strictly subjective. I got a Birria taco and a Picadillo taco. The birria was amazing (see pic) with pulled beef, cilantro, and onion (typical traditional style), the other one was some kind of minced meat and potato (still good but not even close to the birria. Also, I got a "large" shake and the thing is the size of a 7-11 slushie!! However, I think the ice cream had some homemade element to it, because it was kinda gritty and icee. Didnt have a tone of flavor, but not big deal. Final thought: I gave it a 4* but it is VERY close to 5. The birria was a 5* for sure. Will definitely go again because they have like 20 different breakfast tacos that I need to try. One of my biggest gripes in South Texas is how many places use premade tortillas. In a taco-heavy city like this, that shouldn't be a thing. That's not an issue at Taqueria Almeida. Their tortillas are fresh and homemade every time. Honestly good enough to take home and eat on their own smothered in butter. The barbacoa tacos are one of my go-to orders. Always consistent. The papas a la mexicana are another favorite, sometimes with some eggs mixed in. Horchata is excellent too. I usually sip some on the way home and mix the rest into my coffee. Here we are at the inaugural end of Summer (Labor Day weekend), school is back in session, and I feel compelled to show some love to one of the best taquerias in Flour Bluff, Corpus; Taqueria Almeida. Located on Waldron right adjacent to Flour Bluff High School, it is a local institution providing a safe haven for students to congregate before, during and after school. Its actually quite ideal! It is a cheap open-air taqueria with a drive-thru for added convenience. The food is great, and so is the atmosphere, IMO. I do not come here very often, but when I head to the beach using Yorktown as a backroad, I try to stop here when I can to grab brunch. What's more is the staff are always super nice and accommodating. I usually just get carne asada, bacon and eggs (with salsas!). Since there is no way to conveniently ring that up (they don't operate on a modern Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system), they always figure out a workaround for me to keep it relatively cheap. I enjoy coming here and listening to the crowd. It's not just highschoolers, but tons of locals. This place really is a Flour Bluff institution! Lived here in corpus 5 years now...I've been looking along time for authentic Mexican food..I was sitting in a grocery store parking lot and this super friendly Mexican dude knocks on my hood cause he liked my 4x4.. we exchange a few words about it..so min later he comes out of store with 15 gallons of milk I said to him probably cheaper if you just bought the cow he laughed and said I own a Mexican restaurant and mama sent me on the milk venture I said do you serve authentic Mexican food he said yes we do in fact we specialize in it and I had my doubts at first but the guy was so darned nice I said why not, let me see if you can make what you say....OMG!!!! I showed up at this place and wow very cool place to start. I've visited this place maybe 6 times over the past 5 years. I don't know if it is a miscommunication or what. Today January 2024, I order 2 cheese enchiladas a la carte, 3 flour tortillas, chips and salsa, medium Dr Pepper. I'm told $15.94. I get home looking at my order I got the enchiladas-ok, then I notice 3 separate aluminum foils rolled up I was given and charged for 9 flour tortillas. The chips are unsalted and so bland even with the salsa. I was not offered a receipt IF you get one it's a receipt for the total, I want an itemized receipt. Out of the 6 visits they have only gotten my order correct 1 time. I keep telling myself DON'T GO BACK but I was hungry for the enchiladas. I absolutely DON'T recommend going there!!! I don't know what happened -- I've seen great reviews which is why I ordered my husband and I some tacos. Pastor and asada. They were soooo greasy and salty and just lacked flavor. We were staying nearby and this place is convenient. My only complaint is that they serve hot food in styrofoam containers that melts into the food, causing the food to taste like plastic- not healthy at all (cancer) we ordered pancakes and the pancakes had gross melted plastic embedded inside, other restaurants line the containers with foil or parchment paper, tacos are decent, agua frescas are good, crunchy tacos are good! read more

delicious waters, we ordered agua de limon y agua de sandilla (watermelon). the beef enchiladas are traditional chicano tex mex. the caldo de pollo was my daughter's favorite, with homemade flour tortillas. The tacos are super delicious with the salsas being the only downside for us, since we like spicy salsa. The chicken mole is a bit sweeter than i prefer but it was nice. The beans are authentic Mexican refried beans . Would recommend this place with outdoor dining or drive through. read more

As you unwrap them steam pours out & gives you a mini facial, the smell of that 'bread' alone seduces you. You start to drool & your mouth is watering.... Yes, YES, YES!!!! Hot, steamy, creamy, potato, fluffy eggs & ooey gooey cheddar cheese that is wrapped in an out of this world little tortilla 'bread' package. Its like a pleasurable gift from the heavens. You devour it & it devours your soul. The joy, the pleasure, La petite mort. Then when you have recovered from your spiritual rebirth order the Carne Guisada taco. Hot, tender, dark meat, dripping with rich, thick, creamy gravy full of exotic, tantalizing, robust flavors that just melt on your tongue. Oh oh oh oh Ohhhhhhhhhh! I used to live in flour bluff and that was back in 1995 and the taco stand was a huge hit with the high school kids. I haven't been back except once and that was in 2019. My husband and I went so he could try these tacos and they r still as good as they were back in the day! He was very very impressed! When I worked in CC, I'd come here at least every week. Now that I don't, when I travel to CC to hit the beach at N. Padre or Port A, this is my family's first stop, every single time. The steak & potato tacos (get 'em loaded) are just the tastiest thing ever. Their breakfast tacos should have love songs written about them. Their salsa is roasted and tasty. The lemonade is refreshing on a super hot summer afternoon. I'm sure there are other things on the menu that deserve praise as I've never gone wrong here, but these are my favorites.
