Wowowow this place was so good I HAD to write a review just to let the world know how amazing the fried chicken sandwich is. I still think about it at times because it's THAT good. It had so much flavor! The photos made it look very small, but it was quite hefty and filling. There was quite a wait so we had some clam chowder to tide us over. Move over Popeyes. If you live near here, Nan's is the only place to go for spicy chicken sandwiches. The chicken is fried to crispy perfection and can pack a punch with the spice! The other killer dish is the grain bowls. You pick the type of grain you want, the protein, and any sauce. The veggies are seasoned and grilled to add interesting flavor to each bite. Unfortunately there is nowhere to sit and eat so it's take out only. I heard along the grapevine that they tried to get picnic tables outside until neighbors complained (boo....). Don't let that deter you though since now you have a great home meal! The inside of Nan's is a converted old barn and you can see the architecture throughout. Keep an eye out for the hole in the floor (you'll know the one ;) ). The market has an amazing selection of unique beers including an entire cooler full of sours that my husband loves. First time eating at Nan's. First of all, let's be clear: this is Metrowest Massachusetts. The following FIRST TIME review needs to be understood in that light: it's not like there's any competition around. Given that, the fried chicken is banging! That means excellent. I ordered the standard 10 piece bucket and it was delicious. The chicken was fried and cooked to perfection. Finally, a place that is NOT afraid of using some damn seasoning, and there is a sweet after taste / under tone in every bite. They claim to be southern inspired, so my guess is in the breadcrumbs, they use a dash of sugar or honey. The place is also country inspired and gorgeous. They sell wine, fresh vegetables, side plates and have a country store with ample parking. My only complaint: potato salad is YELLOW, NOT WHITE. If you are from DR, Haiti, or other caribbean islands, it might be more pinkish because of the beets, onion, squash. Nan's potato salad is white, despite the add of limited egg. As we say: " you can't just eat anybody's 'tata salad". read more

Best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. Fried chicken was thin and crispy with a delicious broccoli slaw and spicy mayo sauce on a fantastic brioche bun. So good. Such a surprise from this middle-of-nowhere residential home turned general store type of spot. They had some great looking salads, vegetables, and chicken in display case as well. I plan to try something from the case next visit (and there will definitely be a next visit). Also; an interesting well in the shop floor covered with a sheet of glass. This place is perfect after apple picking at Honeypot. I got the picnic melt and clam chowder. I would recommend ordering ahead as it seems like they have a small kitchen and had a lot of orders to fulfill. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for the sandwich, but the clam chowder was enough to tide us over. Hands down the best chowder I've had in New England and perfect for the cold weather. Nan's was absolutely fantastic. I wish I'd captured a picture of my food, but I was so hungry and enjoying it so thoroughly, I didn't have time to! My fiancee and I stopped into Nan's for the first time after viewing some open houses in nearby Maynard. Parking was very easy, and we were kindly greeted by a staff member at the register while we reviewed the menu. I ordered a chicken sandwich, expecting cold cuts, cheese, lettuce, tomato; my fiancee ordered a turkey sandwich. While we waited, we perused the snack selection for a bag of chips to pair with our sandwiches. Though it took longer than expected, I was pleasantly surprised to find a fresh, meaty piece of fried chicken, topped with chipotle aioli, served on a soft brioche roll. It certainly explained the wait! The chicken was tender, juicy, and well battered so that it wasn't greasy. Condiments and toppings were applied liberally. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in weeks. My fiance's sandwich was tasty, served warm, and had nice crispy rye bread. We both left super satisfied despite having to wait longer than expected, would totally go back to Nan's and readily recommend it to anyone looking for a lunch stop. read more
