I visited SF Auto Labs yesterday and rented garage space and a vehicle lift to do a complete brake job on my car. Before going, I bought and brought all of my own tools because I had seen a previous review saying the shop advertised tools but did not actually provide them. That was not my experience at all. SF Auto Labs had the tools needed to complete the brake job. Alex was especially helpful. Since it was my first time doing this type of work on my vehicle, he took the time to show me how to properly use the lift and checked in on me occasionally throughout the day. He also helped demonstrate how to use the rear caliper brake tool when I was having trouble with it due to inexperience. Overall, I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend SF Auto Labs to anyone who needs a garage space and lift to work on their car. I also found the full-day rate reasonable and worth it. One note for other customers: please clean the tools and return them where you found them, or where they belong. The rear air springs were leaking on my 2017 GLS450. I did not want to pay $2500 to get this fixed. I asked Google Gemeni if there are any DIY garages in town and DIY Auto Labs was listed. I bought the springs online and rented a bay at DIY Auto Labs. They have the lift and all the tools I needed to do the job. Alexy was extremely helpful with his diagnostic computer when an error code popped up. I had installed the level sensor incorrectly. Problem solved. Super helpful and friendly. I needed to change the skid plates under my Tesla Model 3 and it seems so much easier to rent a car lift instead of getting tire jacks for the car. Also the aluminum plates are a little heavier than the fiber board original skid plates on my 2019 Tesla. One of the best things is meeting up with Alexei (sp?) who helped recenter one of the holes on the new skid plates. Thanks and I recommend this place if you like working on your own car. read more

Overall I am beyond happy SF Auto Labs exists since the other spot I used to go to (if you remember DIY or DIE Techshop) closed down and I needed to install parts on my car that can only be done using a lift and proper tools. Alexey is amazing as far as his knowledge on vehicles, with other people and letting me know about any issues or conflicts with appointments before I went there. Once I got there he helped set my car up on the lift, showed me around the shop and made things easier for me to do the work I needed. Best of all, this place is open on the weekends which is unheard of in the "automotive industry" and is already better than any other service shop/dealership that exists. Since a good majority of people, including myself, work the all day during the weekdays and cannot take days off, the weekends are perfect as far as working on your car goes. Even though I live up in Concord, traveling here is worth it to not only do the work yourself but also have a shop that is trustworthy. I can into this place based on the reviews from what others said in yelp and google. I was really hopeful on this place and hopeful based on the reviews. I can into this place just needing a lift and that's all this place was good for. I would give this shop a 1 star if it wasn't for the lift. The issues were how messy the shop was, fluids on the ground and parts scatter on the floor. It was difficult to work in since tool were randomized throughout the whole shop, which made it challenging finding the sockets or wrenches I needed. Again I understand things to get misplace or lost but at least clean the shop before every new person comes in. Makes it difficult for the customer to work in and focus on the job. As a someone who mechanically incline I couldn't finish my to do list on my vehicle based on the dirty shop. I ended finishing my project on jack stands but in my clean organize garage. Would I come back? No. Do I regret spending my money? Yes. Now if you got no tools or live in an apartment and you have no choice then this place works but expect a struggle based on my experience. In a world of nightmarish options for vehicle repair, DIY Auto Labs is the oasis for the automotive enthusiast on a budget. I had a daunting job in front of me, faced with a blown turbo on my 335i. This would have cost upward of $6000 at BMW or about $2500-$3000 at an independent shop, I managed to handle myself for somewhere around $1500. Alexey was very knowledgeable. I actually had to tag him in for about 90 minutes of his direct help in the middle of my job and it turned out to be money well spent. He pointed out some things I'd missed and he was able to correct a potentially time consuming issue before it became a problem. He was always available or nearby for help but knew not to look over my shoulder or make me feel rushed or uncomfortable. From what I'm observed over a few days of working there is that he has a good sense what is happening with any vehicle that comes into the shop. He also went above and beyond with in terms of being gracious with how much time the work was taking. Overall a very positive experience. Great shop! I brought my own tools but the cabinets were stocked with the few extra things I needed for an engine swap. Of course the lift, jacks, and engine hoist were integral to doing the job, and Alexey was right there when I needed some advice. Nice quiet area with other car shops around. I can't thank Alexey enough for the flexibility and kind advice. Got a wicked air suspension problem w the car and most indys dont know what they are talking about. Researched enough on the topic and decided to try taking matters into my own hands at least to investigate whether its a compressor, solenoid valve, or relay issue before going to the the slaughterhouse. Alexey is very acommodating to my last min request and I was able to get my car lifted so I can figure whats going on. He's very eager to help and even geeked out with me with his diag tool and offered invaluable advice and even walked me through several pages of the service manual he has on the computer. In the end he saved me a LOT of trouble by suggesting that I take a closer look at the relay hidden under the dash as a clicking relay can be deceiving. I spent half a day (because I work slow) changing all the fluids in my car. I did engine oil, gear oil, brake fluid flush, and coolant flush. I live in a condo and I can't do all this at home without getting busted by the HOA police. It's a bit of a luxury to rent a lift. But it's worth it to me. You're still saving tons of money compared to getting work done at a shop. Also it's so much more enjoyable than working under the car on jack stands. I would definitely recommend going to this spot. They have everything you'll need in terms of tools and equipment. And they'll take care of disposing all your fluids and old parts too, I believe. Make your life easy and book an appointment. Tried the new 1 Hour Pit Stop appointment today and it was great for just getting my own oil change done quickly. I like it as no need to book 4 hours / half-day when just doing an oil change. This was my 3rd visit and between 2 different cars and always had a great experience. Not the most clean or organized space but I always bring my own tools and haven't had any issues. Perfect if you live in an apartment or condo, don't have a garage space, and all you need is a lift. Alexey is always willing to help and great to chat with. read more

Went in to do a transmission filter + fluid change and Alexey was very helpful, knowledgeable, and cool to talk to.
