I've been working with a customer of Napa Electric for several years now trying to diagnose networking/Ethernet issues. Finally figured out what happened. Napa Electric was paid to run Cat5e Ethernet cabling throughout 8 newly built units. In the process multiple cables were nicked and some outright cut. Napa Electric's technicians used dozens of UR connectors to patch cables throughout the property and told my client "AT&T will figure it out." Picture attached shows one of the bundles of UR connectors on the Ethernet cables that Napa Electric left. Lots of folks are saying they're great, but definitely avoid for low-voltage work. read more

First time calling Napa Electric was very pleased with the whole process. I called left a message and they returned my call and set up a time for free estimate of what I needed. They charged me 145 for first hour and 120 the rest of hours . The electrician mike was excellent and answered all our questions and concerns and worked very efficiently and he was friendly. I have infrequently been treated with the respect and knowledgeable service I received and most highly recommend checking in with Napa Electric for any electrical need you might have. Here's why. A week or so ago I finally decided to replace a blown bulb in an older vanity fixture. I found that the bulb was not a screw in but had two prongs and was very small. My first thought was to take it to Napa Electric here in Napa. M first visit was on a Friday. I was welcomed by a very friendly lady. She examined the bulb and told me it was a halogen and was unmarked as to wattage and she was hesitant to replace it not knowing same. She then suggested I check the other three bulbs in the fixture to see if one was marked. Away I go to check bulbs. After checking bulbs and removing the fixture from the wall to hopefully find some info, I found none. On Monday then I took the bad news of no info back to Napa Electric. I then said that possibly replacing all the bulbs with LED's might be good as the halogens burned very hot. I then received a lesson in lumens. Having no knowledge of lumens, I had to ask the lumen output of incandescent bulbs to get a handle on what LED would work for me. (By the way, a 100 watt incandescent puts out 1500 lumens!) We decided on the lumens that might be appropriate and she was able to find four LED's that had what looked like the same prongs as my original halogen. I asked if I might bring these bulbs back if my wife did not like the output. SURPRISE! She said yes which I found unusual as most electrical products in my experience could not be returned. At home again I tried one of the bulbs and, alas, my wife said it was too bright. Even though the bulb lit it failed to click firmly into the receptacle. So here I am on day two no closer to having four working bulbs for my fixture. What to do? Aha, I realized that the single fixture in the shower room was of the same design as the one over the sinks and provided similar light(lumens). I took it out and it was marked 40 watts. OK. Back to Napa Electric on Tuesday. I was sure that this nice lady had seen enough of me and would have understood if she had chased me out the door with an umbrella. But as before she was intent on helping me as she had before. I told her that the LED's I had bought on trial were too bright and did not click in securely. She looked at my shower room bulb but was unable to verify the 40 watt marking I had seen but took my word for it and was able to provide two 50 watt halogen bulbs and refund me for the LED's and my problem was resolved. Sound like a nightmare? To me it could have been without the friendly knowledgeable diligence of this lady behind the desk at Napa Electric. Mitch W. read more

I am sorely disappointed in Napa Electric. I asked them to provide me a quote for a Service changeout. I sent them pictures the same day to expedite the process. I was told they would do a drive-by to verify the work and send me a quote within a couple of days. Two weeks went by before I received a quote; it took hounding them to get it. Once I received the quote, it was $900.00 more than a similar job they did for my son's house just six months ago. I expected the same or even a lower quote as they would be able to reuse the circuit breakers that were installed two-three years ago as well as seeing that the new grounding system was already in place. I had the pleasure of having Napa Electric here because the PG and E bills were extremely high and my family knew something was wrong After PG and E confirmed the bill was accurate and we were responsible Napa Electric came out and did a thorough investigation.After determining our electrical was fine and nothing was wrong I showed the tech our bill and he noticed that the meter number was not the correct one. He confirmed that the meter number was incorrect and needed to be changed. This was so simple and no one even me would have noticed or thought to check. I am an electrician that lives south of SF and didn't have the time to drive up to St. Helena area to bail out my DIY challenged friend when he bit off more than he could chew in his home remodel project. I recommended he call Napa Electric but I assumed he wouldn't because he is notoriously cheap. I thought for sure he would use some half-trained-half-wit and then complain to me how expensive it was. I was surprised when he told me that he listened to me and did hire Napa Electric to do the work. He went on and on about how professional and efficient the electrician was. My friend still hadn't put his drywall up when I visited next so I was able to "inspect" the work, everything looked perfect. I LOVE NAPA ELECTRIC! I recently worked with Napa Electric to install two new light fixtures I had ordered, I just needed them installed. The front desk was able to make sure the fixtures would work on the type of ceiling they would be hanging on. They verified the type of fixture, type of light bulbs, and ensured the degree/angle of the ceiling would work with the fixtures PRIOR to scheduling anything! Now that's what I call efficiency ( I would have never though of all of that) I scheduled my appointment with Susan (who is a doll by the way) for an electrician to come out. She was super sweet and communicated with me efficiently! Patrick (one of their many fabulous electricians) showed up to install the fixtures. He was on time, ready to go with a smile! I have used Napa Electric for Business and personally for our home, and I have to say how surprised I was to read the reviews of alleged theft. My experiences with Napa Electric have been nothing short of spectacular, and though I will not discount the experiences of others, I find it very hard to accept that a company that has been in this community for 70+ years would knowingly practice such dishonesty. I have worked in the trades in the Napa Valley and Napa Electric is known throughout this Valley as the benchmark of knowledge, competence and professionalism in their field. This is a company you call when the low bidder has failed. Getting competitive bids on any project is important, but being able to accurately compare those bids for correctness and code compliance can be a daunting task. It has been my experience when working with Napa Electric on commercial projects, that they have consistently submitted the most complete and accurate bids of any commercial contractor I have worked with. They understand their business very well and get it right the first time! Workmanship has always been outstanding and the communication with the office and field technicians has always been first rate. When we built our own home in 2005 the one sub-contractor I did NOT get a competitive bid for was the Electrical - I trust them that much! Patrick met with me when I was developing a set of plans, and later when the plans were finalized and we were scheduling subs. He spent a great deal of time with me on site solving problems and avoiding others (This guy knows his stuff)! His expertise found ways to save us money from our original bid, while at the same time, making the end result better than our original plan. Lighting in a home should be more than just a lack of darkness, when done right, the lighting in a home can set a mood that is experienced but not noticed and these folks know how to do that. The best recommendation I can give (other than using them on my own home), is to family and friends that ask me "who should I use for ....? I would give this place negative a thousands stars if it would let me. The people who work here are crooks and theives. We hired them to do some electric work on a house that we were renting from my boyfriends parents. We met the electrician at the house and showed him how to let himself out when he was done because we were not able to stay the whole time he was there. Since we were moving out the house was pretty much empty except for a few large items. So we werent concerned about the electrician stealing anything from the house. However, when we arrived the next morning we found that our washer, dryer, and two tv's had been stolen and the electric work was not completed. The company refused to do anything to help us and had the nerve to send us a huge bill for work that was never completed...These people deserve to be in prison. When we called and told them what happened all they said was "our electrician says he didnt do it and we believe him". There is no other possible way it was anyone else except him. No one else had access to the house and knew no one was going to be there except him. read more

I called them to get an estimate set up for a small job in our residential home, and they said an electrician would call that same day to set up an estimate appointment. Electrician called, however I just missed the phone call. Called back immediatley, no answer. Almost two weeks later I got a call from that electrician. He was rude on the phone and did not take the service I needed seriously. I needed a switch and a new light on my ceiling installed. My sister took a lamp that was damaged in the earthquake to Napa Electric and told me NE fixed it for a modest price in short order, so I brought them my Tiffany base to replace a broken part. Zane wrote a ticket & said it would be about 10 days. She only took my name & number. It's been more than two months & there's been no call back. So, I called them back over 3 weeks ago, spoke to Zane again, & she said they were back logged & hiring & would be in touch. No call back, no update. This is unacceptable lack of regard for the customer, poor service, and beyond unprofessional. read more

I've been using Napa Electric for many years for both commercial and residential electric work. They show up on time and do quality work. They have installed major power panels, fans and data networks. The skill level is very high and they are certified. Pricing has been competitive and I have never had a theft problem in 15 years of doing business with them. I think they do a great job and I would hire them again. read more

While I am not disappointed in the quality of the electrical work - I was shocked to have received a bill for almost $500 more than the estimate given over the phone. I called to discuss this and was told that no one could have predicted the cost of the electrical component needed and that it was my fault for not having a formal estimate done. I have lived and learned to make certain to do this - however - I suggested that folks who give estimates over the phone might want to inform the home owner that the estimate they are giving are only for labor and that parts might cost well over double the labor amount. I asked the electrician how much the work would cost - he had no idea and told me I would get a bill. I am now stuck paying a bill for almost $1,000 when I expected $350 - $500. The company tells me that their neither their electricians or the folks that answer the phone have any idea how much parts cost. Napa Electric would not work with me and made it clear that they did nothing wrong - and it was clearly my problem. (A $1,000 problem.) read more
