After an unpleasant experience at another rug store, I admit I was reluctant when I stepped foot into Istanbul Rug. Lady Luck was on my side when I met Ogi on a Sunday (in Berkeley), who wasn't even supposed to be there since he's usually in the San Rafael location. Ogi is a personable and masterful communicator - the quintessential professional who has a photographic memory of every rug in his inventory. If you want something, he'll find a way to work with you. If you have questions, he'll patiently explain it to you. He streamlined the entire rug buying process while making me feel valued by proactively following up with my inquiries via text. I was initially looking for a Sultanabad for just the living room but with Ogi saving me 4 trips by kindly bearing bridge traffic and toll and driving to my house with endless rug options, I ended up buying another Kazak for the dining room at a very reasonable price. From the start, communication with Rug Masters was excellent. I received a very competitive price quote, responses were prompt, and the turnaround time worked well for us. Jay arrived on June 2nd, right on schedule, to pick up the wool rug. After inspecting it, he discovered moth damage, which increased the cost for cleaning and restoration of the 9' x 12' rug from $480 to $600. Even with the additional repairs, his quote was still the best among the companies I contacted, and it included both pickup and delivery. The rug was returned to us on June 27th, and we were extremely impressed and satisfied with the results. The colors were vibrant, the mold spots and spores were completely gone, and the moth-damaged areas had been expertly repaired. The rug looked immaculate and beautifully restored. We are very pleased with both the quality of the work and the customer service. We would not hesitate to use this company again and highly recommend them!
