I have been to this spot a few times, Recently went on a Wednesday, Had a great and fun server (Lindsay), but as with my other visits, the food is just okay. The food is never bad, but is never yummy. This visit I had the Burger, my friends had the Tacos. all in all just average. Beer Selection is good, and at a good price. Fair amount of kids will be there, Napoleon's has a great space, good if you have a larger group also. You can sit in a booth, table, or tall table if need be. Had a blackened chicken wrap. The flatbread was dry and tasteless, so I discarded the flatbread and ate the contents of the wrap. However, the chicken itself was also very dry and flavorless. I've had much better. The patio is nice, but this time, two customers smoked right outside the door. I guess the restaurant can't really help that, but it made a meh experience even more meh. read more

Yummy food, fantastic staff and great music! I love coming here on Friday nights for the live music. It's very "neighborhoody" with lots of locals but they are inviting to all. I love sitting at the bar and trying something from the rotating bottles of beer. This week I had Wicked Weed, which is hard to find in Atlanta, and it was delicious. I used to LOVE Napoleon's!! I'd go there twice a week just for their fried green tomato sandwich with pimento cheese. BEST fried green tomato sandwich ANYWHERE on the planet! I met a couple of friends there two weeks ago, asked for the sandwich and was told they no longer make it. The waitress said it was one of their lowest selling items. B.S!!!! EVERYONE in my office ordered it all the time. A co-worker told me he and his family no longer eat there because they've also discontinued a few items they used to order all the time. I won't be going back to Napoleon's. Another reason I won't be going back is because Dawn and Anastasia no longer work behind the bar. Man of MAN could those ladies make a mojito!! Usually a good place to go with the fam but sadly the service has gone downhill and the food is lacking. Our party of 9 waited an hour and 15 min for our meals (with small kids)! And when we got our food it was over cooked. It was such a disaster that they comped our entire meal. So sad. I used to love bringing our family here but we won't be back again. I found myself in the area and stopped in Napoleon's for a beer and quick dinner. It was early evening and the place was busy but Dani ( mgr ) and staff were on their game. Erin, my bartender was outstanding in her personality, menu knowledge and being on top of her bar ( I say her bar as it was full with people there to see her and she knew everyone by name and was not only running service bar but taking great care of everyone there ). Erin suggested the mini pot roast and it was awesome with my ice cold pint of Bell's 2 Hearted Ale. Great staff, great food, nice beer and drink selection..will be back for sure! read more

We stopped in very unexpectedly for a quick bite at 5pm on a weekday. As vegetarians, we were thrilled with the delicious Fried Green Tomato BLT (minus the "B"), homemade hummus/pita, and AMAZING Brussel Sprouts. Great atmosphere, service, casual yet seriously delicious food! read more

Love the atmosphere inside. The porch outside is a let down - right on the parking lot where exhaust and noise is distraction. The beer selection is poor; however the wine is ok but the amount served is low for the cost. I eat here on a weekly basis since they opened hoping for more consistency. The food will be great one day and the same dish will be sent back the next. the Meatball sandwich special is home made and very good! The Napoleon Bowl is tasty. I love Front Page News so this has been a bit disappointing. Unfortunately there are only a couple of waiters that are above average. The other waiters drop to well below average. Chris recognizes the regular customers and is attentive with meeting the customers needs. The acoustics interferes with conversation. I have not given up and have faith this local restaurant will improve. I just hope it happens soon. read more

The new updated Napoleon's is so so good. Have been coming here the last 7 years when we visit my in-laws down the street. Food's always been ok and the beer selection has always been good. Was an easy local place to grab a bite but the food was just fine, never great. Went tonight and it was phenomenal. Our server was incredible, the burger, fries, crispy red potatoes, fried chicken and grits were amazing. Can't believe they have specialty asian dishes on the menu like pork belly buns and crispy coconut rice served with edamame. Vegetables were unbelievably fresh and the manager told us that they are grown in the neighborhood. So pleased with the changes and upgrades to the menu. Now it's one of our favorite spots in Atlanta. Oh - the hot brownie is one of the best I've ever had. read more

Went on a Sunday after church for brunch and the Falcons game was on which was fun, but the volume was too loud for any conversation and the drunk fans were a little obnixious. It took the waiter for ever to even bring us water b/c he was busy delivering drinks. I order the bagel and lox with grits it was really good. The rest of my family enjoyed their food. I felt like I walked into an entry on "Stuff White People Like" when entering Napolean's last evening. It was PACKED with attractive 30 and 40 somethings, listening to the acoustic harmonies o' the Umajets (they were great, btw, but largely drowned out by aforementioned folks). Nice addition to the neighborhood, surely, and interior is appropriately dark/woody/cozy with booths lining the walls and large bar. Beer list is definitely better than average, but not wholly inspiring for a real beer lover. Still had some summer ales --wasn't as updated as I would have hoped and the descriptions of the beers were lacking solid information. I had 3 types of tacos....very reasonably priced at about $2.79 a pop....Thai tofu and two types of fish, all a nice size and with a ton of toppings on them. I could have actually filled up on 2 of them, but ate all 3, as no one wants a day-old taco and I'm not one to throw away food! The service was very, very friendly.....extremely friendly........so friendly I felt mildly uncomfortable and wasn't sure if I should hug our server and bartender when we left. I'm sure this place will do very well --seems like it's well run and has a diverse menu. I'm looking forward to trying their "giant bowl o' stuff" (not it's real name) on my next visit....looked like a delicious medley o rice/beans/cheese/tofu/fried tortilla strips in a bowl (and not a 'failure pile' in a 'sadness bowl' either ala Patton Oswalt). read more

Used to love Napoleons. Went recently and discovered a totally new menu. All of the favorites are gone. Pot roast, bread pudding, tacos. If you like pork, pork, and more pork, it might be your place. The waitress tried her best to 'sell' the new menu items but I don't think even she was buying that they were good. We gave it a shot and sampled several items. They were bland at best. Suddenly this great neighborhood restaurant is trying way too hard to be trendy. The ambiance is still good and, with a couple of exceptions, the wait staff is good. Sadly, it's off the list unless they change up the menu again, and this time for the better. read more

Food is ok not particularly great, I've been here several times and I've ordered something different every time as I was not impressed previously. The servers are nice but nothing spectacular. The one time I stayed and had drinks at the bar was nothing special either, bartender was not engaging despite there not being many people there. I have eaten at Napoleon's several times and been pleased with the food. However, the noise level inside the restaurant is unbearably loud. I don't know how anyone can stand to eat in a place where you have to shout to be heard across the table. I hope others will complain about this too; then, perhaps, the management will take some steps to improve the acoustics of this otherwise appealing restaurant. Went here for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. The fried shrimp is great and the tofu tacos are really tasty. It wasn't crowded since it was a weeknight and it was just at the time when the full menu was about to switch to late-night. I will definitely go back and try more things. I live in the Oak Grove neighborhood so its wonderful to have a nice new place so close to home. Its nicely decorated, has a laid-back ambience and friendly service. read more

This place was amazing. Truly enjoyable experience. The staff was friendly and helpful with menu choices and the food was mostly priced fairly. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a warm and welcoming hostess who guided me and my partner to a table. The red headed waitress with the many earrings (I unfortunately didn't get her name) was quite enthralling. She was beautiful and patient with me and my partner and waited on us with care and precision. Would definitely want her to waitress our table when we return! We had a birthday celebration for a colleague and it was really good. I had the sweet tea brine fried chicken sandwich and it was crispy and delicious on the house made bun. This used to be a great place to hang out and the food was good....then it all changed exactly 2 yrs ago. What happened...I really wish I knew. The food lost it's flavor and became just bland bar food that you can get anywhere. Even the smokehouse wings that were the best around, simply became meh. The fried pickles...got destroyed too. I knew something was not quite right with the place when I ordered their cheeseburger and got a burger sitting on a bottom bun...that was it, nothing else. When I asked the waitress where the rest of my bun and toppings were, she said that is how it comes and walked off. Had to grab another server who was running food to take it back and correct the problem. That has to be the first time in my life I have ever left a restaurant and only gave a .01 tip. I have gone back a few times in hopes that things have changed, but I'm sad to say it hasn't. I don't know who is giving this place anything more than a 3 star review, because they have not earned it...yet. read more

This place is very busy on a Friday night around 7p. The wait was about 30 minutes. Once we got seated the service went down hill from there. The waitress we had was an idiot to be honest. When you order a "side salad to start" doesn't it come out before the meal? I thought so! This waitress was scatter brained. The meal was decent. I had the chicken salad sandwich. The fries were generic frozen fries thrown into a fryer. I think what ticked me off the most was when my bill came and it said COMP for the salad that I didn't even eat because I didn't want it with my dinner so I said take it off my bill. I asked the manager why it was on there as COMP when I didn't even get the salad to eat. He said because it was made so it had to go in my bill. That is stupid because it looks they were doing me a favor without doing anything for me and messing up my order. Had I would have taken the salad and eaten it or taken it home. Always enjoy Napoleon's when I'm in town visiting family. It's become a post-Christmas tradition. Great, relaxing atmosphere. Menu offers a lot of options - burgers, rice bowls, tacos and more. Always love whatever I order! I tend to gravitate toward the taco baskets. The food is very fresh and tasty. The service is generally good, but typically a bit slow and some servers can seem aloof. I only eat here when I have plenty of time - not sure I'd choose it for a quick meal. The food is well worth the wait though, and it's easy to relax and chat with friends/family! read more

This place has potential, but is searching for an identity. The decor and atmosphere wasn't what I was expecting, and doesn't really seem to go with the menu. It looks and feels like a bar. And yet they were out of not 1, but 2 beers that I ordered. They have maybe 8-10 choices on tap, so being out of 2 is a lot. I finally settled on a 3rd choice, which wasn't too great. They happened to be doing trivia that night, so we decided to join in the fun. But it was almost impossible to hear and just didn't seem to be working. Again, identity crisis. There are some great menu choices, but an odd mix. Pizza, bar apps, tacos, and then full entrees of beef and chicken. I actually got a couple of the tacos, interesting combos like buffalo chicken. Good enough to order again. I may try it again, and hopefully by then they'll have figured out how much beer to order. read more

My wife always likes to go b/c she loves the burger and gets it everytime. I tried it but was not so excited about it. I do like the beer selection. We've been a few times and I've had tacos, the burger, and the fish and chips. Everything was ok I just have an issue b/c the softtacos were soggy, and I hate slimy flour tortillas. Then when I had the burger, half the bottom bun was really soggy. I was about to check this one off my regulars list, but my wife got me to go again. The fish and chips was OK. I will NEVER go back to this place. We were quickly seated in a half empty restaurant, but it was all down hill from there. It took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our waiter, and at least that long to get drinks. 20 minutes in and I'm just getting my coke?! Should have left then. Our table of 3 ordered 2 appetizers to share and these took an eternity to be delivered. The chips that were supplied with the guacamole are apparently cooked on site, however these were dripping with grease and not fully cooked - they were like leather. We would have asked for more but our waiter had disappeared, as he would several other times throughout the evening. The older couple sitting next to us (who was there when we arrived) had to get up and walk to the bar multiple times to get service since the waiter seemed to be constantly missing. Similarly a family of 4 was seated nearby and after at least 15 minutes they asked the bartender where the waiter was. Our meals came out cold after another lengthy delay, and my burger that was ordered medium-well was bleeding all over my plate. At that point it wasn't worth wasting any more time on, although it did take another 20 minutes to get the check, which we waited out patiently with empty glasses. This nightmarish 2.5 hour ordeal goes down as one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. read more

I'm confused by many of the reviews - they must be written by the owners/staff. The "great patio" is actually part of what used to be the parking lot and overlooks the parking lot and the package store next door. The food is mediocre. Staff has been hit or miss. Since its so close, we decide to "give it another shot" every third month or so. Tonight we reluctantly decided to try takeout again since we didn't want to drive. After getting our oder in, the manager got on the phone and unapologetically informed me that they don't do take out "at this time" between 6-10 on the weekend. But they did a few months back. And she said they were "thinking about starting it up again soon". Just always inconsistent. Items always missing from the menu. A neighborhood restaurant that won't even cater to the neighborhood by offering take out. Hopefully three months from now I'll finally remember the many reasons why we always swear we'll never go back. Fail. read more
