The Cajun menu looked great. Mexican chicken fried steak, ~$20 -- 100% worth ordering. I'd never had a Mexican chicken fried steak before -- it's basically a chicken fried steak, but it comes with an order of queso on the side. Something different and unique, and very, very good. Highly recommend it. The sides I had were the okra, tater tots and a roll, all above average. Bottom line, everything we had here was very good. Would highly recommend, and would come again.

Everything was fresh, seasoned, and hot--nothing sat under a heat lamp. The bread on that po' boy had just the right chew, and those shrimp were the real deal, not that frozen nonsense. This ain't some corporate chain menu--it's a local spot with heart, consistency, and Texas-sized portions that respect your plate and your pocket. I'm not here to argue ingredients with folks--I'm here for good food and good people, and Double J's keeps showing up with both. Support your hometown joints. Double J's deserves the love.

The woman who owns this place could not be more genuine and committed to the success of her business through going above and beyond for her customers' satisfaction. She greeted my table both times I've eaten there to check in. The staff was great both times. Plus refills on tea! This is in the house that used to be Old Victoria. Lovely transformation. She said they were absolutely yummy. The owner stopped by and talked to us for a few minutes. Gave us a little history. Everyone was so above and beyond friendly!! I almost didn't come here because I didn't think the posted pictures were very appealing. But against my judgement I came and I must say I enjoyed my visit. I ordered the lunch special of grilled flounder with came with dirty rice and staemed veggies. You also get a choice of salad or coleslaw. I like to try different coleslaws and found this one to be drowning in mayo. I posted my own photos that show the spices in which the fish is grilled. It was almost too salty, but I ate it with lemon and/or coleslaw. The rice has meat in it-ground beef. The veggies were perfectly steamed. I do recommend this restaurant. I came on a cold day at lunchtime. The locals do seem to enjoy this place and for good reason. The servers are friendly and helpful and aren't afraid to make recommendations or confirm with the cook if they don't have an answer as to how something is cooked.

I didn't get any tortillas with my plate so I asked the waitress if tortillas came with the plate and she nodded yes and brought me two of them, then when we left, I noticed she charged me $2.99 for them. She should have told me when I asked and I would not have ordered them. That is bad business practice. We also got charged for the credit card fee and were not told before we paid because then we would have paid cash. But overall, the food is not good and we will not be going back.
