    Shotgun Roll (wasn't impressed)
    Ryleigh N.

We walked in about 45 mins before closing time and were met with a hostess that was less than thrilled to greet us. She seemed tired and irritable when we asked if we could sit outside on their patio, since the weather was nice and it had a direct view of Freak Alley Gallery. It was because she had to separate a large table for us since we were only a party of 2. Our server wasn't much better. I appreciate her letting us know that they close soon and we needed to hurry, but there's a tactful way of saying it and she did not deliver. We ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen and Shotgun Roll -- Not impressed by either. It wasn't terrible. But nothing that would bring us back or recommend this place to our friends. We wrapped up about 10 mins before they closed and that's when our server was nicer to us.

Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen with added Chili Paste and Cilantro

Some of the best ramen I've had! I decided to get the Black Garlic Tonkotsu with added chili paste and chili. I also tried the chicken karaage and goyza! So much flavor it was delicious and the server was friendly and prompt. Great atmosphere too, will be back again soon!

Bannock Street location serving on the left vs. South Bown Way location on the right, the bowl on the left is underfilled

I would not recommend going to this Nara Ramen location since they skimp out on filling the bowls. It's not that the bowl I got had less toppings, you can see that there's not as much broth or noodles in the bowl on the left vs. the right.

"Dear our loyal customers. We are writing to inform you of a significant transition that affects Ramen Sho. Effective March 19, 2025, we will sadly be closing our doors. It has been a pleasure serving our dishes to our customers, who became friends and family over the years since 2017, but it is time to say our goodbyes. We are incredibly grateful for your support throughout the years, and we want to assure you that this decision was not taken lightly. Due to multiple determining factors, it has become impossible for us to keep the business going. We hope to open our doors again, should circumstances allow. Until then, we want you to know how much we value you as a customer. We encourage you to visit us in these last weeks and have one last meal.Once again, thank you for contributing to the memories we've made at Ramen Sho. It has been an honor serving you. With sincere gratitude,"

The service was quick and friendly! The interior is not really my taste - it felt like a teenaged boy's room. There's a lot of anime posters and Japanese artwork, so definitely driving in the Japan/anime especially with the artwork outside the storefront. The menus look like they need an update since it was pretty worn down and barely held together by a taped up binder ring. We ordered veggie egg rolls to share and I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen. The egg rolls were ok. The ramen was also ok - nothing impressive. The soup was ok, but not as creamy or rich as I prefer tonkotsu to be. The chashu was dry and chewy, so it could've used more cooking time. The noodles had a great texture and the half boiled egg was delicious. I wish there were bamboo shoots as well but not a personal dealbreaker. All in all, it's an okay ramen restaurant that's on the affordable side.

Staffing at lunch was on the light side, as it took quite a while to get the hostess/waitresses' attention so we could get seated, then some time to get our order in. Not all that unusual for a sushi bar. I had a Sapporo, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was on tap and in a ice cold chilled mug. We ordered a mixture of sashimi and nigiri, and all of it was very good to excellent. The presentation was equally as good. Completely recommend this place, and I will be back soon!

One employee cooking and running from the kitchen to do everything, cook, register, bus tables, likely without washing hands. Probably works on clogged toilets without washing hands. Nobody at front counter. They have a screen where you order and pay. Everything is self serve and they have the gall to force a tip at checkout. They only accept credit cards and then added a service fee without my acknowledgement. You actually make your own boba. False advertising. Ramen is in the business name but no Ramen on menu. Everything is plastic. This place must be the biggest contributor to the hundreds of miles of floating plastic in the Pacific Ocean. Took 20 minutes to get my food and I was only one other customer at 1 pm on a Thursday. Totally effed up my order. I made it dine in and it came out in a bag to go. Super salty kung pao chicken. Only flimsy plastic ware. All of this is BS. $15 for food I would not allow a dog to eat. After tasting everything in my order, all of it went in the trash can.

If you are looking for the absolute WORST sushi experience in the entire Treasure Valley,…read morecongratulations, you found it. I have never dealt with such atrocious service & their Sushi was subpar at best & that's being generous. Right out of the gate, it was a total disaster. The waitress brought absolutely nothing to the table--no utensils, no ginger, no wasabi, nothing. You know, the standard basics that literally every other sushi joint on the planet drops off on autopilot? We had to literally request every single item just to physically eat our meal. Then came the food--or whatever you want to call it. I specifically asked if I could swap tuna for yellowtail and asked about getting what I actually liked instead of just settling for "chef's choice." They completely ignored me & brought the exact opposite of what I ordered. Nothing we got was correct. My guest ordered a lobster and fish roll, and they handed her a plate of literal, unidentifiable mush. There were no actual pieces of fish or lobster to be found anywhere in it. Just mush. And the scam they pulled with the ikura was unbelievable. I ordered two portions, which is supposed to be four pieces total, which again is commonly standard at any other Sushi restaurant. Instead, they brought out two pieces. When I pointed it out, the manager actually came over to our table to argue with me, insisting I was going to be charged full price for half the food. Literally $5ea for 1 piece of Sashimi that tasted like shit. Outside of the painfully incompetent service and the manager's garbage attitude, the fish had no flavor, They didn't even bring out all the food we ordered, but we were so fed up and disgusted by that point that we just paid the bill and walked out. I don't know if this is how they run their business every single day, but it was bad enough to warrant this warning. There are plenty of incredible sushi spots around here. Do not waste your time or your money at this absolute trainwreck of a restaurant. I guarantee I will never step foot in this place again.
