This was my first visit to Ginza sushi and I was pleasantly surprised with how amazing the roles were. The staff was super sweet and attentive. The rules were very creative. I am not much of a mango person, but having that mango on the mango roll was super delicious. They have another roll with jalapeños and apples, which sounds very offputting, but you are pleasantly surprised by how good that role taste. All of the sushi and the fish taste super fresh and was such a great sushi spot. Great location to get to the main part of downtown. We will definitely consider coming back here again! read more

This place is now conveniently across the street from my new place of work. I had some time between clients so I decided to grab a quick lunch. I came a quarter to 1. It was slow but it's also a Saturday afternoon. I sat the bar since it was only me. No need to mess up a whole table. My waitress came with a menu and a glass of water. I'm pretty consistent with my orders when it comes to sushi. I grabbed a miso, salad and a ca handroll. The last time I was here when they first opened the sushi chef was kind and gave me a sample of their ika salad. It was a different chef today but he was kind and gave me a sample of the ika salad. I worked on it while my food was being prepared. The ika had a nice chew to it but wasn't hard. You can taste the fresh cucumber and whatever veggie is in there. The sesame oil wasn't too heavy. I ate as much as I could. I'm not a big ika fan but the chef was so kind to give it to me that I didn't want to waste it. My soup and salad came out shortly. I will have to say, they don't skimp of portions with the miso. My bowl was filled to the brim! It was nice and hot, perfect for today's cold weather. I did wish there was a little but more miso flavoring to it. It had a good taste but it could have been a hair saltier. The salad looked fantastic. Lots of carrots and a couple slices of cucumber. Some of the lettuce was wilted so the crispness of the lettuce lacked in some of the pieces I ate. The Ca roll was money. Its a classic and kinda hard to mess up on. It was good. The cucumber was crunchy, the avocado was creamy and you got a good chunk of krab. I appreciate that their spicy mayo had a slight heat to it. It was a perfect dip for my handroll. Today's visit good ok. The handroll was good and the ika salad was neat to try again. The chef was kind and my server was decent. I just remember my initial visit being so great. Today was average. Being that they are across the street from me, I'm sure I'll be back. I'll have to be daring and try something different next time. read more

What an excellent japanese restaurant in downtown Boise. As soon as you walk in, it gives you a modern vibe and was very clean. Service was great from start to finish. It is also priced fairly for downtown with good portions! For an appetizer we shared the edamame which was salted and cooked well. My friend also had the Miso soup which she enjoyed. I ordered the Beef Ramen (Sliced beef, fish cake, half cooked egg, bamboo shoot, black fungus, green onion, spicy sauce and black garlic oil). It was really good. It had a hearty, flavorful broth and the portion was filling. The noodles were of high quality as well as the other ingredients. My egg was fully cooked and I'm not picky about that but I know some are. We shared our sushi and they brought it out on such a beautiful display we both had to take pictures! The three rolls we chose are... Yellowstone (Spicy crab, shrimp tempura, Top: yellowtail, avocado, jalapeno, red tobiko,poke sauce) Bronco (Spicy yellowtail, mango, shrimp tempura. Top: fry eel, salmon, avocado, spicy sauce, eel sauce ) - this one was our favorite! Dynamite (Salmon, yellowtail, kani, snapper, avocado, tobiko, green onion, battered & deep fried) - my friend has never had a deep fried one before and she enjoyed it. All in all, its a good spot to snag a meal and don't sleep on it! Also, if you have ever been to awesome Sakana Sushi in West Boise, their menus look similiar because they are! Okay so I found the sushi spot and I'm not gatekeeping: it's Ginza Sushi. I'm obsessed. First off, the vibe is actually amazing. Bright, clean, and NOT one of those dark places where you're scared to look your spicy tuna in the eye. It feels welcoming, not like you accidentally walked into a fish mafia meeting. They totally get the gluten-free struggle too--which, shoutout?? They brought my friends GF soy sauce without making it weird and were super helpful in navigating the menu for them. 10/10 for that alone. And the sushi??? So fresh it probably had a passport. The presentation was stunning--like, the kind of rolls you almost feel bad eating but then don't because they're actually life-changing. I got a variety and not a single piece flopped. The salmon melted. The yellowtail? Unhinged levels of good. Plus the service was so sweet. Not fake-friendly, just chill, helpful, and on top of it. Went for the first time to Ginza, not knowing much about it, met friends there for lunch at their suggestion. It was busy and bustling, but we were able to get a table immediately. I wanted something very light, and ended up being delighted with my choice of a bowl of hot dumpling soup, perfect for the rainy day. My companions likewise were really happy with their orders, including bento (with salmon) and kimchi soup. The interior space is small enough to feel intimate, but big enough to accommodate lunch crowds, and wait staff were efficient and engaged. The only 'con' was noise level but obviously this was due to busy lunch hour and modern dining spaces' acoustics not being optimized for conversation. Most definitely will return. read more

Unfortunately, this is the worst japanese food we've ever had. The Chicken Katsu was bland, dry, and tasteless, The Chicken Teriyaki was also worse than any I've ever had before, slimy and flavorless. I have done my best to try every sushi location in Treasure Valley and Ginza has by far the highest quality fish. It is so fresh and was told by the server they very frequently get deliveries. I recently returned from a trip to Japan (which the sushi there cannot be beat as it is caught daily). the server at Ginza told me the fish I was eating was delivered 3 days prior, and I could tell. I am a big nigiri and sashimi guy so I got the sushi and sashimi for one which was a very healthy quantity of food which left me sated. I can attest that this is nearly as fresh as the fish I had while in Japan, by far the highest quality in the valley. Would very much recommend. I sat outside which was very nice too. read more

We arrived shortly after 5 pm on Friday evening. There was not a handful of other customers at the time. I believe this place is new. We were quickly greeted by our server with water and menus. The service was friendly and causal. The food was delicious. We started out with the seafood soup (4 out of 5 stars) and a house salad (5 out of 5). The sushi rolls were delicious and fresh and easily a 4.5. The tempura chicken and veges were outstanding and easily a 5. The rice, while only steamed rice, was perfectly cooked and a 5. And we loved the tempura sauce. The place has a modern and nice appeal. I wish the tables were wood and not metal but that is my only nit pick. I highly recommend checking this place out. It is on our short list of regular haunts. I am looking forward to trying the hibachi, don, and fried rice in the near future. read more

I got the black pepper tuna this last time and can say it was the best, freshest, tuna I've had in Boise in a very long time. Will definitely be returning again and again. I actually went to Ginza with a high expectation. And was let down. I ordered steak hibachi. Had no flavor whatsoever good portion, but zero taste. Beef was chewy. Could have used a steak knife, but had to settle with ripping it apart with my teeth and fingers. If I go back I'll stick with sushi. Establishment appeared to be clean, from what I seen. We had a wonderful visit to Ginza Sushi recently for a birthday celebration. Being that the restaurant has only been open for 5 months, I hadn't heard of it. Reviews were awesome so we decided to check it out and I'm glad we did. We went on a Monday evening and it was fairly busy. There was no wait for a table though. It's not a big place but there is a bar too if they happen to have no tables available, and I believe there is an upstairs as well. The atmosphere was cozy and aesthetically pleasing. The lighting was perfect imo. Not too bright, not too dark. 1990s/2000s era radio hits played at a volume that was unintrusive yet enjoyable. We were first greeted by a very friendly sushi chef who told us to sit where we wanted. We chose a table with chairs on one side and a wooden booth on the other. There are pads on the booth to sit on that made for a comfortable experience. Our waitress was amazing! Very friendly and efficient and delivered A+ service. I think she may also have been one of the owners. We ordered salads and miso soups. The ginger dressing on the basic salad was delicious, as was the miso soup with its slight sweetness. We also ordered Shumai dumplings and shrimp and vegetable tempura. Both were yummy. We were so full though that we couldn't quite finish our rolls so next time I would just get the Shumai or try a different appetizer. The vegetables were cooked to a perfect softness and the tempura batter wasn't overly greasy or thick. For rolls we ordered the Fantastic and the Boise rolls. We preferred the Boise roll with its delectable lemon sauce. Next time I'd like to try a spicy scallop roll, and there will be a next time! My dad doesn't do sushi but they have teriyaki and hibachi dishes. He chose the teriyaki steak and shrimp combo which he enjoyed. He ordered fried rice which I think is $3.95 extra (or steamed rice is included). It's a good sized plate of it. He had plenty of leftover rice to take home. I really liked the rice. It wasn't too salty or greasy like fried rice often is, and it had a depth of flavor I can't quite describe but I'm pretty sure it's five-spice. Texture is great too. For libations, my daughter ordered a pineapple ramune soda which tasted like candy. Yum. Waters were refilled as needed. I ordered a hot sake and it was also yummy. My dad got a 20 oz mug of Hefeweizen. Our dining experience here was so relaxed and fun and I can't wait to bring my other daughter here when she visits. They also have ramen so I'd love to try that out as well as work my way through the wide selection of rolls. Location is downtown on 10th street near Idaho. There was plenty of street parking. We went to Ginza after a BoiseDev review. We were surprised and amazed at the quality of the food, and taken aback when we ate the Ika salad (squid sliced thin) that was so good, I would walk barefoot in the snow to get it. My husband and I are on a heart-healthy diet, as well as a low carb (pre-diabetic) diet. This has become our only restaurant for both physical and mental health. The staff is amazing, kind, and friendly. (we come here at least once a week, so they now know our order). The miso soup is fantastic. The salad with ginger dressing is delicious, and since we order octopus shashimi, we always put the daikon shreds into the residual dressing for an added treat. There are only a few things we eat (can't do sushi because of the carbs in the rice, although it has been amazing on our one or two "cheat" days.) But those things bring us back week after week. Octopus shashimi is fresh and has sliced lemon that makes the dish our "dessert." Soft shell crab is AMAZING. (Can't eat it often because it is fried, but we would come here daily if health allowed!) Our new favorite because of both quality of food and health value is the hibachi. The sauce is delicious, but we order without the sauce because it is teriyaki (salty and sweet). We gravitated to the chicken and salmon, but today ordered the dinner portion of lobster. Every dish we have had is fantastic, but the lobster was epic. We have had Japanese food in several places, and Ginza is the best ever. read more

It seems like our waiter had a big table upstairs that she mostly focused on my food came out 15 minutes before my friend and when my friend got her order is was wrong, when she kindly told the waiter the lady stared at her without saying a world pulled out her note pad and showed her that she got what she had written down and didn't offer anything to help when she and left leaving my friend about to cry a few minutes later my friend just really didn't want that food and asked if she can add a side of white rice and shrimp which took another 20 minutes (shrimp cooks in 2 minutes) and the waiter charged her for it and didn't take anything off the bill for the wrong order also I'm really not a picky eater but even to me her fried rice that I tried tasted like wet dog food and smelled terrible read more
