We had lunch here for the first time. They're located on Schoolhouse Road off Lougheed Highway in a strip mall. Food: 4/5 - a great assortment of sushi and other items. At lunch time there are a few bento boxes specials. We opted for the salmon teriyaki and chicken teriyaki. Both were tasty and of great value. They had large portions. They offer a variety of sushi rolls based on movies such as Hunger Games roll. Good options for healthy eating. Service: 4/5 - server was friendly. Good service. Topped up our teapot when needed. I actually loved this cute cozy little sushi joint in Coquitlam. The sushi was wonderfully fresh and made with care, the Spicy Chicken Terriyaki was flavorful and the Miso Soup delightful. We were soooo tired, coming back from a quick trip in the Okanagan and ended up in Coquitlam...so a quick google search on sushi and I came across this small restaurant. We were very happy to find it and enjoyed our meal! We were approached by a woman, somewhat cooly but she was busy. We were excited to smell and see the cozy atmosphere, it smelled like a wonderful, small Japanese restaurant (FYI it's run by the best Korean chefs) We were greeted with miso soup and and a wonderful Menu. I ordered a basic Budweiser and it came with a perfectly frosted mug! The best on a hot day! We highly recommend the sushi and sashimi, it was fresh delicious and tasted amazing. Here's a few things we tried. The Sashimi Box - amazing fresh tuna and salmon sashimi with tempura, pork gyoza and lots of other treats. We were so impressed with the dynamite roll. I ordered the deep-fried California roll and tempura prawns that were both delicious and crispy. There was a par-tay in my mouth and everyone was invited! The dynamite and standard California roll were also delicious and I know that I'll be dreaming of sushi tonight! This was a takeout order and I appreciate that they added a cardboard sleeve at the bottom of the bag to prevent leakage onto my pants and car seats. Food is meh and service was horrendous (not server but the sushi bar guys). I ordered on my way to work so I could quickly pick up my food and go. I called in and they said about 15min for spicy tuna roll and a cucumber maki (that's fine). I said no worries and I arrive probably a few minutes later and the waitress said it wasn't quite ready and I said "oh I don't mind waiting I just ordered so I can just pay now if that works". She was completely fine and then I hear the sushi bar guys talk in Korean and basically getting mad at the fact I showed up early?.. They were going off about how I just called and it's 2 rolls. I was completely shocked. Sorry I came to support a small business during these times? Super disappointed and definitely taking my money elsewhere. Food is really nothing special anyways. I decided to eat at this sushi place as it was very close to the Coquitlam movie theatre. There was a lot of parking in the area and it was a cozy little shop in a plaza on Schoolhouse. Upon entering in, I was greeted by a friendly staff who offered us water and some complimentary edamame. I found that very unique as no other sushi restaurant has ever done that before. I definitely give them a thumbs up for doing that. They had a good selection of items on their menu, and I felt like their prices were really reasonable as well. They had a bunch of interesting special sushis, so I decided to get the sushi pizza. The dish had a crunchy rice based shaped and cut like a pizza, with a sauce over top and it is sprinkled with avocado, crab meat and raw salmon and tuna fish. It looked very nice, and after getting over the fact that I was eating sushi in this manner, I started to really like this. It's hard to go wrong! Overall, I really like this sushi restaurant and definitely foresee this being a go to place when I want to get sushi close to me (i live in Coquitlam!) the waitress was also really polite and I was just happy with this place :) read more

"Movie themed" sushi. I had take-out, and I was in and out within 10 minutes. What caught my eyes were the movie-themed sushi rolls. For example, they had a "Transformers Roll", a "Hobbit Roll", an "X-Man Roll" and an "Avengers Roll". I have no clue how they decided on the names because there doesn't seem to be anything in the rolls' ingredients or appearances to suggest that they are somehow linked to the movie. One of the best oshi style sushi places out there. Super flavorful, and super affordable! Everyone always talks about Green Leaf in Kits and Narita blows their oshi/aburi out of the water. Also the bento boxes are huge for a great price. Always great service and friendly chefs :) Now and then they pass out free samples of appetizers out of appreciation and gratitude. I wish I had good things to say but the prices are high for quality that is just sub par. I gave this place a few tries and ordered different things each time. The last order made me want to give this place 1 star. I ordered spicy tuna sashimi and the amount was so small... I was shocked it was $13.50 for a handful of small chunks. The "dyna dream roll" was supposed to have spicy tuna on top, which was clearly salmon, just kind of thrown on top in a few different sized chunks. Looked like left over scraps. I was already disappointed before I even started my meal. I've only ordered take out here several times so I can't speak to the dine in service however my order is usually ready by the time they say it will be. Staff are nice but the food is VERY "so-so". Even with the 10% discount for take out orders, I'm not coming back. If you think dining in makes the difference in terms of overall experience, it might shock you how tiny this place is. People picking up take out are constantly standing in the already cramped space, so unless you don't mind eating with people standing behind you then maybe this is the place for you. I'm surprised this place has a pretty good score when there are so many better places. I would go elsewhere. read more

Korean run sushi restaurant. I'd give the food 3.5/5 and the service 2/5. One of my favourite things to get is the sashimi salad. Generous portion of salmon tuna sashimi with cooked shrimp and egg all on a bed of veggie and cucumber slices. sushi is passable, can be sloppy at times. Tempura is good, I wouldn't recommend the teriyaki. Prices are fair but service can be bad especially during rush hours. The restaurant works many take out orders and there are usually no more than two staff on the floor. I came once during lunch and it was a mess . People waiting to take out in a crowded restaurant with only two staff on. Needless to say I didn't get any service. Sat down for 10 mins with no tea and menu. Then she came back with tea without the menu. Couldn't get my tea refilled and I had to ask three times for my bill. I would recommend getting take outs from here occasionally, but would skip eating in. read more

This is a nice little Japanese place just right around Superstore and Silvercity. The service is great, they're friendly and very hospitable. The menu is quite extensive, a ton of things to choose from. This was a nice surprise once given up on good food places around Cineplex Coquitlam. This was definitely a five star sushi joint. Let alone that it was a hidy whole across the street from the theatre. They had some interesting sushi choices. Even for my conservative tasting pallet American cousin who only ever eats plain cheese pizza. The sushi was amazingly good. One thing that bothered me as a resident safety officer was that the servers kept tripping on the floor matt at the entrance to the kitchen. However by the end of the meal, the servers finally picked up the matt and moved it out if the way. Work hazard addressed and temporarily fixed. Thank you for the impressive experience. Sushi is absolutely amazing and worth 5 stars. Their 10% discount when presented with movie ticket for the same night is also wonderful. But BE WARNED: their official hours say they're open until 10pm, but this doesn't mean you can enter and order until 10pm. Their unfortunate closing hours are undetermined as we were craving sushi at 9:45pm. When we arrived we were told unless we were there to pick up a phone order we were out of luck. This place should just say Open until 9:30PM as that's as late as they seem to accept orders anyway. read more

Great sushis!!! Its a cosy small place with never a crowdedness around. Most items are amazing and fresh. The chef is enterprising and possibly is the owner of the place. They greet you with a complimentary spring roll and hot jasmine tea. I've tried many many other sushi bars around the city and must say that their prawn tempuras are just the best. Of the sushis, definitely go for energy roll, spicy combo, unagi roll amongst many others. I recommend not to try the yakitori, schoolhouse roll. Do not forget to end your meal with the green tea icecream! Its simply the best part of the meal! No complaints about the service or cleanliness. read more

I have eaten here a couple times for a close and quick sushi dinner. The service is good and the sushi has it pros and cons. The rolls without the extra rice robe are not wrapped all the way across and come undone basically upon presentation. But, the taste is good. I have tried most of the basic including the Oshinko and while it did open up on me it was a fresh addition to dinner. The energy roll must have benefitted from previous reviews because it wasn't greasy, and while the Unagi was a little lacking it was overall tasty. If you're in the area and hungry give it a try. Me and my boyfriend decided to go here tonight and were quite happy with the food! Although the Spicy Chicken Teryaki isn't that spicy in my opinion, it's still good. The gyoza was wonderful, and my boyfriend loved the dynamite roll and dragon roll and he was also pleased with it. The service was wonderful, out drinks were never empty. Came in 40 minutes before close and they wouldn't seat us. To add insult to injury there was multiple wrong items. Another visit, the server handed me my bill and asked me to pay before I even finished my meal as they we're closing soon. It seemed reasonable at the time as it was a bit late. So I asked for the rest of my food to be packed and paid. Then the server informs me that the cook threw my order in the garbage... They offered me a measly California roll as compensation. No refund or partial refund offered for throwing away my dinner. Which was only supposed to be packed because they were trying to get me to leave! Will never return to this place! read more

3.5 stars. Your run-of-the-mill sushi joint. Nothing out of this world, but consistent in flavour when you order the "usual" sushi (ie: california roll, dynamite roll, salmon roll, etc...) Portions are pretty standard. The restaurant itself is cozy, and there's always a lunch rush. Do take out, and if you order over $30, they give you a discount. Our office does take-out every month and they have really good lunch specials that are filling. read more
