Fresh Biscuits, cappuccino and delicious French Toast. Yummy!!

Absolutely loved this place. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We ordered the fresh Biscuits and butter, French Toast, Mini Breakfast and Breakfast tacos, along with Cappuccinos. Everything was delicious!! I will definitely come back and highly recommend. Come early though...this place gets packed and seating is limited.

Cute little cafe in Everett! The coffee was super good - we ordered the iced Cortado, but definitely want to come back for the iced cappuccino! The food was also great & super fresh, we tried the breakfast burrito and the breakfast biscuits. Both were extremely fresh and tasty! The service was also great, food came out at decent time even though it was very busy! Seating is slightly limited but we were able to get a table before food arrived

If you are looking for a place that believes in quality food and drinks at a reasonable price, look no further! Alex and his Team provide great customer service as well as a cozy spot to enjoy their delicious creations! We enjoyed a couple of coffees with our Biscuit Benny and Strawberry French Toast prepared by the amazing Miss Anna. We will definitely be back!

Exceptional cappuccino!!! If you're looking for a coffee shop that focuses more on the extraction process and flavor of the espresso than sugar and syrups of coffee "dessert drinks," this is the place! The barista was very knowledgeable and pulled the perfect shot of espresso for my morning cappuccino. I love to experience a new city through their coffee shops and Narrative does not disappoint! There were even a couple of friendly locals who struck up a nice conversation with me while I waited.

What can you say about Narrative Coffee that hasn't already been said? If you want a truly well-made, great-tasting, beautifully presented coffee drink, this is the place. Staff is always friendly; ambiance is great - cozy. Whenever I'm downtown Everett, I make it a point to stop by Narrative.

I wanted to offer some feedback based on my experience. This is not about the quality of the product -- the coffee and food are good, and I'd say they're among the better options in the Everett area. That said, a good product doesn't automatically equal a good experience. The café itself is nicely designed, but the customer experience falls short, largely due to a combination of weak service and a confusing ordering/hand-off system -- and the service attitude tends to amplify those issues. A few specific points: * There are no prices listed for retail items. * There is no clear pour-over menu. * Customers are not told where or how orders will be handed off. * There doesn't appear to be a consistent order-labeling system. Mobile orders seem to get a name on a sticky note, but individual drinks and food items are not labeled. This creates a confusing hand-off area. * When orders are called, customers are left to guess which items are theirs. This led to a frustrating situation. A mobile order had a name similar to my husband's (his name is often misheard), so we asked for clarification at hand-off -- which seems reasonable given the lack of labeling. One drink had a name on a sticky note, but the food (which we were still waiting on while the rest of our order was completed) was sitting separately with no label at all. Naturally, we assumed it was ours. It turned out the food belonged to the mobile order -- something there was no way for us to know. When we asked for clarification, the barista responded in a snappy and condescending way, explaining it as if we were doing something wrong rather than acknowledging that the system itself is unclear. A little customer service and basic clarification would have gone a long way. The issue wasn't confusion on our part -- it was a lack of a visible, logical process, paired with an attitude that made a simple question feel unwelcome. There's a lot of potential here, but improving the order flow, labeling, and overall approach to customer interaction would greatly improve the experience.

You'd never know how incredible the food is here if you grew up around Everett. My boyfriend was a little standoffish because of how he remembered the area years back. But once we walked into Narrative coffee he was so surprised at how clean and delicious the food was. It's a scratch kitchen, fresh breads and biscuits. The ham and cheese sandwich was so good and the coffee options were so fun!

Nice friend cafe with great options for a quick breakfast. The avocado toast was delicious with a side of real bacon. Nice cozy moment with the husband's chi and my tea. Great customer service with an inviting atmosphere.

I got their seasonal pumpkin spice latte and avocado toast and both were delicious! I liked how their latte wasn't super sweet, and the avocado toast had a lot of flavor. The place itself was also very cute - it had red brick and was a large space! Overall, I would definitely recommend checking it out!

Gluten free biscuits tdf - SO yummy! For food, I got the buttermilk biscuit sandwich on a gluten free biscuit and L got the biscuit egg and cheese. For drinks, I got a decaf oat milk latte and L got a limewired. Everything was delicious - I was not a fan of the limewired but L said it was refreshing and tasted better as she drank it - but it was a very expensive outing. It's a very nice environment though, record playing in an open space with lovely staff!

A subpar experience. We ordered The Wetmore Sandwich and the Ham & Gruyere Sandwich. However, we ended up receiving a Grilled Cheese sandwich instead the Ham one. We kept the Grilled Cheese and they offered a refund for the Ham one, which was understanding and kind of them. The Wetmore sandwich tasted decent, but was lacking in protein and not worth the price. The service was unfortunately very slow too

On an unexpected trip to Everett this Monday morning, I asked Siri where to get some coffee and ended up here. I was flustered and disorganized, as I hadn't expected to be in this part of town (from west Seattle). Maxwell greeted me with a genuine kindness and helped me collect myself without rushing me and select a drink based on my circumstance. It was such an amazing experience and a memorable one on a day where every encounter can help determine the course it could take. Thanks, Maxwell - also...great coffee! read more

Going to Narrative is a MUST. I love the employees here. They are the absolute best! Always super friendly and super invested into creating the best service to each customer. This is not the place you go to blend in, each customer is tended to attentively. I appreciate how the baristas help each customer get the best cup of coffee possible! I also love the quality of coffee here. I really value the artisan of specialty coffee , and Narrative has it right ! You have to get a 8oz espresso and Milk! They definitely get a higher rating for the atmosphere and decor over the coffee. Their coffee is good, but I don't really come here for the coffee. They have a really interesting, simple, but tasty menu. Their staff is SUPER friendly. The interior is beautiful, lots of open space, brick, clean lines. Very instagram friendly. I'm one of those people who sits at Starbucks for as many hours as I can stand, doing homework, until my behind starts to hurt from the uncomfortable chairs. You won't have that problem here. Comfy seating. Honestly, definitely worth a visit. read more

The gang at Narrative has taken the time to thoughtfully engage with new business practices during COVID and still deliver the quality you expect and trust. It's nearly impossible to run a small business on an average day and it's increasingly stressful and demanding to run one during a pandemic. Coffee house culture is on sabbatical right now, but rest assured that buying a rested latte to go with a sleeve of cookie dough will only make you miss Narrative's building and not their product! read more

What a great little gem in North Everett! I stopped here with my son while waiting for Funko Pop to open. Good coffee, wonderful and trendy interior. The kind of coffee shop where you can read a book, get some work done or just hang out with your family for a bit. The staff was extremely friendly and polite. What a great coffee shop. It's so cute inside. The coffee is amazing. One of the best lattes I have ever had. It's a little on the pricey side for coffee but honestly so worth it. This is just what Everett needed. The details in their spot are so beautiful that sometimes I catch myself staring at their furniture instead of reading my book. Maxwell is obviously passionate about the gift he has and his business, as well as every single employee there. As for coffee, perfect. As for tea, perfect. This is a very different twist to your typical coffee shop. Great coffee and lattes made very well by staff that has been well trained in the art of steaming and pouring. the decor is very unique and a style that is very warm. It is wonderful to see something like this in Everett. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Narrative. The ambiance of this place is over the top impressive. The staff were extremely friendly and they really went out of their way to be super attentive. I got a vanilla latte, and the Ecuador and Zambia pour over. Just wow.. OMG! This place rivals the coolest, Best gourmet coffee shops in Seattle and it's tucked away in downtown Everett. My work brings me up to Everett on a regular basis and I'm going to Narrative every time, guaranteed. I love their espresso cocktail drinks. There's always something new to try. Love this coffee shop! The baristas are very knowledgeable and super friendly. You can tell that they're excited about serving the best cup of coffee and educating others. Also, I love their "Honor Bar". The Honor Bar is a self serve brewed coffee bar at Narrative Coffee where the guest rings themselves up for a $2 coffee. This offers a quick and convenient way to get brewed coffee and it's pretty cool to still see the "honor system" used in a business. Nice work guys! I'll be back! read more

Jumping on everyone else's raves-ditto ditto ditto. The froth on our beverage, however, was the toys for my grandbaby-I mean wow!! An outdoor coffee stand and you have a box of toys to entertain kids/babies so the adults can enjoy their drink in peace? You are not only nice, friendly, knowledgeable without being pushy, offering by far the best coffee drinks I have EVER had, you are wise enough to think of the whole family. Sadly I was very disappointed even though the ratings are good and I walked directly here when in Everett waiting for a car repair. My simple order of a pour over coffee and biscuit took a half an hour. And the biscuit was COLD! For all that wait they couldn't warm it up. It was buttery and could have been flaky and wonderful. Alas. A big disappointment. read more

A nice, upscale coffee shop with some different specialty coffees to choose from. I had a drip coffee which was really tasty and an espresso shot which was also very good. Felt a little out of place cause I didn't know what some of the coffee options were but employee explained them in great detail. The extremely hipster vibe was the only thing that threw me off a bit, but also what made it memorable and a cool experience. Me and my friends got some homework done. Setting was very bright and a bit loud. read more

They have really good Coffee and very tasteful pastries. The look and feel of the shop is top notch. The build out and use of space, and their style is unmatched in Everett - and is better than all the small shops in Seattle. This is my go to spot before meetings with the City. If they are busy it can take a while to get your coffee - so if you are in a hurry hit the honor bar coffee in the back. read more

Great coffee, and great vibes inside. Great colors and textures throughout the decor, and it's obvious every detail was thought out. Most importantly the coffee is amazing. Had a waffle and a drip coffee, my husband had the bee's knees. The waffle was delicious - moist, flaky and an all together brand of goodness that's hard to describe - go get yourself one. The bee's knees was so unique, great flavors! Lemon, lavender and honey - super cool and crisp for summer. Definitely stop in and give it a go - coffee lover or not. Just not very good food. Ordered French toast for my kids, and it was nasty. It was two logs of baguette drenched in a peach flavored simple syrup. My kids wouldn't eat it, couldn't cut it, and said it was too sweet. I got the heirloom tomato biscuit and all I could taste was the overwhelming garlic butter. Total flop. Plus side, it LOOKED good :( read more

History

Established in 2016.

In 2016 we launched a small coffee cart in the Wetmore Plaza just two blocks from our brick and mortar location, which we opened on June 9th, 2017. We were honored to win Best New Cafe in the world for 2017 by Sprudge.com and we try to live up to that designation every day. We have a chef-led kitchen and we take our food program as seriously as we do our coffee program. Thanks for your support, Everett! The staff recommended the Einspanner, which was very foamy and delicious. We enjoyed the Avocado Toast, which was loaded with fresh ingredients. However, we found it a little too oily, as both the vegetables and the bread were coated with quite a bit of oil. We also thought the Morning Sandwich, with its perfectly melted cheese, was a great value. They are currently running a promotion where you can purchase a $50 gift card for $45, and you can use it immediately. We will definitely be back to use the remaining balance on our gift card. One thing to note is that there is a 3% surcharge for credit card payments. Parking was free on the street, and it wasn't difficult to find a spot.

I recently discovered Grain Artisan Bakery in Snohomish…read more(highly recommend), & since it was afternoon, I got a decaf latte to go with my rhubarb custard tart. With decaf, I've come to expect that I will need the sweet treat to enhance the drink, but this coffee was absolutely as good as the amazing pastry, which is super, super rare!! It was Velton's Three Ravens Blend, the best decaf - by far - that I have had in more than a decade of searching. Three Ravens is completely delicious standing alone - which is what I've been searching for - and it harmonizes beautifully for the half-caf I like to drink in the mornings. I first emailed the business about which of their caffeinated offerings they would recommend for this, and Velton Ross got back to me right away with the friendliest, kindest reply and several very thoughtful suggestions. So far I've enjoyed the Bonsai Blend - an excellent and delicious accompaniment, just a slightly warmer, brighter profile when full-caf than is my preference - and I am going to order the Twilight Blend next. Although you cannot buy in person from their roastery, you can easily order from their site. They have lovely detailed descriptions of everything they offer, and shipping is very quick and very reasonable. They roast on Mondays and ship on Tuesdays, and I have always received my order (in Shoreline) by Friday, or Saturday at latest. There are also quite a few retail locations from Everett to the eastside - and even one each in Vegas and Montana! - where you can buy their beans and/or drink their coffee. I greatly appreciate that they took the time to list these on their site with detailed information about each establishment. So helpful for learning about local businesses I might have otherwise never come across. Online, you can purchase both whole bean and pre-ground for espresso and drip coffee. The drip coffee grind was a little too fine for my coffee cone method. So I experimented with whole beans and found that, for me, the flavor is perfect when I grind them one setting coarser than I used to use for other coffees. The best part of all of this, is that this is the first decaf I've ever been able to drink without a feeling of compromise, extra doctoring, or gaslighting myself into believing that it's good. Zero disappointment!! I can make a straight decaf cup any time of day and know that I'm going to love every sip. Thank you, Velton's!!

I think I'm a little partial, but the Beef BBQ Ribs definitely altered my brain chemistry. They were that delicious and I'll be thinking about these ribs for a long time. It felt like I was back home at a Filipino barbecue or I was in Hawaii eating at an uncle's backyard. It truly felt like the meat was grilling out in the back and we ate it fresh out the grill. As a service industry person myself, I wouldnt be so quick to offer an inside table instead of being minutely inconvenienced (we offered to move the table ourselves as well to be helpful), with a couple of 2-tops outside and 2 inside - they were not busy. Overall, not earth shattering, but neither was the food or drinks in comparison to the experience and bill sadly.

The seating set up is amazing (though there never seems to be enough seating because it's often packed), they provide big open spaces as well as places to read or study quietly.
