This place is the best!! I've been here a few times now and I always get the same order - breakfast burrito with avocado and London fog tea or their seasonal coffee beverages. I've been wanting to try their chocolate chip cookie but it's never ready when I've gone. Their burrito is delicious though, it's packed and super filling, not to mention the sauces are the best part! I wish they gave a little more as I end up finishing the sauces before the burrito is done because they're sooo tasty with the burrito. I also wish they had other meat options other than bacon. They don't have chicken add ins but other than that it's a great place! I've also had their biscuit and jam, but that's just ok. I wouldn't get it again. It's not that tasty or memorable. However, and I'd like to share my feedback on my experiences. - The food is decent, though it's often prepared for presentation rather than taste. It frequently arrives cold. - The coffee and tea are overpriced and tastes mediocre. - for instance, I paid $8 for a 4-ounce mix of espresso and orange juice that made my stomach hurt. - I also paid nearly $7 for the "peach blossom tea" and ended up getting 3/4 cup of ice, packet tea, and sweetener in a cup. - I've tried nearly everything on the drink menu and nothing is 'great' - The wait time for an order is incredibly long, and the employees are often distracted and preoccupied with other tasks, making it difficult to get my order taken. A few specific points: * There are no prices listed for retail items. * There is no clear pour-over menu. * Customers are not told where or how orders will be handed off. * There doesn't appear to be a consistent order-labeling system. Mobile orders seem to get a name on a sticky note, but individual drinks and food items are not labeled. This creates a confusing hand-off area. * When orders are called, customers are left to guess which items are theirs. This led to a frustrating situation. A mobile order had a name similar to my husband's (his name is often misheard), so we asked for clarification at hand-off -- which seems reasonable given the lack of labeling. One drink had a name on a sticky note, but the food (which we were still waiting on while the rest of our order was completed) was sitting separately with no label at all. Naturally, we assumed it was ours. It turned out the food belonged to the mobile order -- something there was no way for us to know. When we asked for clarification, the barista responded in a snappy and condescending way, explaining it as if we were doing something wrong rather than acknowledging that the system itself is unclear. A little customer service and basic clarification would have gone a long way. The issue wasn't confusion on our part -- it was a lack of a visible, logical process, paired with an attitude that made a simple question feel unwelcome. Exceptional cappuccino!!! If you're looking for a coffee shop that focuses more on the extraction process and flavor of the espresso than sugar and syrups of coffee "dessert drinks," this is the place! The barista was very knowledgeable and pulled the perfect shot of espresso for my morning cappuccino. I love to experience a new city through their coffee shops and Narrative does not disappoint! Gluten free biscuits tdf - SO yummy! For food, I got the buttermilk biscuit sandwich on a gluten free biscuit and L got the biscuit egg and cheese. For drinks, I got a decaf oat milk latte and L got a limewired. Everything was delicious - I was not a fan of the limewired but L said it was refreshing and tasted better as she drank it - but it was a very expensive outing. The atmosphere is so cute, the shop is nestled next to the court house in Everett and a cute little break from everything going on outside. Their food is scratch made and tastes DELICIOUS! It was bitter, burnt, yet acidic and thinned out all at the same time. Plus, it seemed like the chocolate powder or whatever they used wasn't properly mixed so it had this grainy texture in my mouth. I really hope the owners see this and do something about it. I wanted to return the coffee and get a refund but I was already on the road as I got it to go. Narrative Coffee used to be a favorite, but sadly, the new ownership has completely ruined what made this place special. The charm, the service, and the welcoming vibe are gone. Today was the final straw. The shop abruptly closed at 2pm--even though it was still full of customers, the door was propped open, and there was no clear signage about the early closure. When we politely asked about it, the barista was incredibly rude and dismissive, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than a customer. This kind of inconsistent operation and poor treatment is not what we expect from a neighborhood coffee shop--especially when others nearby manage to stay open later and treat people with respect. As a non coffee drinker, definitely a great coffee spot. The espresso daiquiri is weirdly good (it has lime juice), the bees knees one isn't that great to me (my friend loved it though, no yuck to her yum). They also have an insanely good milk here for their beverages. Biscuits are amazing, the sandwich biscuits are better. This was $20 after I added an egg. Not pictured but a buttery croissant my son seemed to enjoy it and gobbled up.
