A very satisfying late night meal. This place definitely deserves to be added to the small roster of actually good Chinese food in Berkeley and the fact that they're open until midnight makes it even better. The one lady who was working there was very nice and they weren't slow even though it was clearly their slow period. We got a few cold dishes and just one main dish with rice it was the perfect amount of food for two hungry people. The appetizers aren't super sad and small like some other places. The also give a very generous serving of rice, which I was kinda surprised by because most places just give you two tiny bowls. I tried the preserved egg and tofu because I like preserved egg (obviously do not get this if you do not like them). I thought it was good although I think the preserved eggs were not that "fresh" - I know they are literally preserved but if you eat them you know what I mean. The potatoes "shreds" were super good. Eggplant was a little too sticky and sweet; it wasn't bad just not my personal preference. Will certainly return and not only for late night munchies! read more

TLDR: great place for skewers at a very cheap price My partner and I decided to stop by Nash Cafe after seeing its cheap price and great reviews. We decided to order a variety of skewers and a noodle option because we wanted to have a little bit of everything. For the noodle option we ordered the Zha Jiang Noodles which was absolutely delicious! The noodles were super bouncy and the pork sauce clung well to it. I love a little bit of spicy so if you do too, then definitely add some chili oil to the noodles. I highly recommend getting this dish - it was super savory and yummy. For the skewers, we ordered beef, steak and lamb skewers. They all had a peppery chili taste to them and were all super tender. My favorite skewer was definitely the steak! I recommend ordering a bunch of skewers and sharing between friends just so you can taste everything. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu especially because everything is so affordable here! read more

I don't often write reviews, but I want to speak up for this restaurant as it's exactly the kind of spot I (and hopefully you!) should support. I got a couple of dishes including the Wuhan hot dry noodles and the beef skewers and I was really happy with everything I ordered! The hot dry noodles are definitely authentic and brought me back to days in Wuhan, and the beef skewers were really flavorful and good! The owner and everyone who works there is super nice. I don't know how busy they are since most restaurants are still primarily doing takeout orders, but I definitely recommend you try their food and support a local business run by really nice people! read more

Ok, a bit torn for star ratings....but let's be generous :) I've been here twice. The 1st time was by accident because the other place I intended to dine at was closed, so I walked in just because I was hungry. They served some chinese skewers bbq items, the prices were cheap but the skewers are smaller than other Chinese skewers bbq places I've been to (in Fremont and Cupertino). We have tried the lamb, lamb chops, beef, chicken, beef kebab, pork belly, chicken skin, and mixed veggies. The seasonings were good, I liked the flavors. The mixed veggies though were hit and miss..the 1st time, the grilled veggies were cauliflower, broccoli, an tomatoes and they were tasty. The 2nd time, we had some purple cabbage, and broccoli, these weren't good and tasted like kerosine to me...probably from the lighter fluid that didn't get burn off thoroughly. The zajang mien was really good the 1st time, the 2nd time was just so so..perhaps a different chef worked that day?! I didn't care for the malatang (spicy boiled skewers), and too expensive for the am0unt of food you get... it was really spicy, so if u cannot handle heat, dont even try. The frogs were ok, but also way too expensive as the portion was small :(. It's cool. It's a low key Chinese place that doesn't close at 9. The restaurant was empty and the food was good. We ordered 3 things which was more than enough for us. They're inexpensive but the only thing that threw me off was they were slow with our check. It took us about 15 minutes to get someone's attention. The fossil egg tofu taste great, just doesn't look that good. The skewers are hard and kinda bland. The hardest, super chewy skewers I've ever tasted. So bad. The lamb was tender but has a slight odd taste n not enough cumin. And the portions were so tiny, look at those strings of beef tongue! One noodle is good, the one with Wuhan sesame sauce. The chives were the only thing with any flavor and honestly they were pretty good despite the small portion. I'm sorry to have to be negative about a place that's open late in Covid times. And I don't typically waste much time on writing negative reviews, I'm more likely to remember to write one when things stood out in a positive way. But this was just *so* bad that I had to. I ordered three things. The tongue skewers ( I freaking love cow tongue, seemed like an easy choice), the minced beef egg soup, and pot stickers. The tongue skewers were so dry and tough that I couldn't pry them off the stick, and the only thing I got from the very tiny scraps I could peel off was massive chili. That's it. Just heat. Any last, lingering hint of beef tongue flavor had obviously died many hours before they packed my order up. The pot stickers had zero flavor. Nothing, not any touch of green onion, or hint of ginger, or... literally anything. I honestly could't tell you what was in those things. Mystery meat. The "soup" was a full quart of some corn-starch thickened tiny table scraps. And I was hungry enough to try very hard to doctor this mess up with my own spice cupboard once I got it, then just gave up. I don't know if this was just the most raggedy end of a very ragged night, but Holy Hell. Nothing even remotely salvageable. I threw it in the bin and ate some cheese and crackers. read more

This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. The food is horrible! The lotus root & pork rib soup was mostly filled with big chunky lotus root that was tasteless. The pork rib was full of fat, and non-eatable. It seemed to be the leftover from that house soup pot. The lamb kobab was not cooked inside, and full of fat. We had to toss half of it. Tried their lamb, beef, chiken gizzard, and pork belly skewers. The pork belly is the best among the variety I tried. Their skewers are smaller (slimmer) than the usual chinese skewer I tasted in bay area and not as well grilled ( a bit too chewy and dry). A hidden gem in Berkeley! This place has some delicious Chinese skewers and other deep wok/grilled dishes. (This restaurant is located next to Nash Hotel, hence its name.) I persistently asked for the dishes to be made non spicy during my visit here, and was met with unfavorable dishes and service. With each dish that came, it grew more and more spicy to the point that it was unbearable.
