Finally my husband and I tried Natas! We so happen to come here right when it opened on Sunday and got a parking space. It's a very small lot so if we come at any other time, I probably would just park on the street (meter parking). We ordered the breakfast sandwich as I saw it came highly recommended and ordered it with turkey bacon and cheddar cheese on a ciabatta bread. The other options was a croissant or their house made Portuguese bread, which she said was a tad sweet. It was probably one of the best sandwiches I had!! The bread was perfectly toasted, with melty cheese and a generous amount of eggs and turkey bacon! We also got the scramble with spinach, mushrooms, and linguica (spicy sausage...they have mild as well). Nothing super special, but it was a delicious scramble and it hit the spot! We met the owner, who was very sweet. She told us they opened in 2005, with just the bakery portion and in 2010, expanded into the restaurant. They have a very cute outdoor patio with plants around. We opted to sit inside since it was a little chilly and love the ambiance there as well. They serve their entire breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu ALL DAY! We'll definitely be back! read more

We had had dinner at a restaurant about a block away. I'm always looking to try different bakeries and saw that Natas was close by and still open. It's usually hard to find a bakery that is still open after 6 pm. I decided to try a variety of pastries and ordered an apple strudel, chocolate covered peanut butter bar and a large chocolate chip cookie. They had a very wide selection to choose from. My daughter ordered a lemon bar, slice of lemon cake and a small chocolate chip cookie. My first impression of the desserts that I chose was that they were sweet. I could feel the graininess of the sugar in the chocolate covered peanut butter bar. The strudel was tasty but light on the apple filling. Between the chocolate chips and sugar the cookie was sweeter than what I usually like but still a good cookie. I tried my daughter's lemon bar and I liked it. The things I tried I'm thinking 3 stars, my daughter liked the things she bought so averaging it out maybe a solid 3.5 stars rounded up to a generous 4 stars. Service was okay. Natas has a wide variety of pastries. I think the other items on the menu are more well received. I'll need to go back next time I am in town to try out some of other menu items. read more

Been going here for 20 years! FINALLY snapped some pictures to write a review. You step into this charming little, beautifully decorated cafe and are immediately transported to Portugal! The people working there are always just wonderful and the food is DELICIOUS!!! It's ALWAYS good!! It's very popular amongst the locals so the parking can be tough in the lot but there's lots of street parking around. The scramble was perfectly cooked and the breakfast sandwich is beautiful and YUMMY! Of course, the pastries are AMAZING!! The vibe is very cute, rustic and teleports you to a small cafe in Portugal with the artisan tiles throughout the space and the charming light fixtures. The sandwiches were OK. I really liked the side salad that they came with and the potato chips. My partner and I didn't love the food here but it wasn't bad.. The portions were large and we both had leftovers! A lot of value in lunch items. I think the bakery was the all star. We ordered a few of the parties and the Nutella with almonds on top of the custard was to absolutely die for. I wish I could eat 10 in one sitting because of how silly and luxurious it tasted. I was a little disappointed in the coffee. Location is a small shop into a corner strip mall and you could miss it if you're not looking for it since the outdoor patio does obstruct the view of the front of the restaurant a bit as well. This amazing little Portuguese Cafe is a hidden gem in Sherman Oaks. I had no idea it had been here for 20 years until I popped in last weekend to buy a few pastries and spoke to the owner Fatima. I knew that I wanted to try one of their egg tarts but was also curious about the rest of their pastry menu. One of their employees gave me various recommendations, and I ended up ordering a bola de Berlin. The egg tart had a flaky crust with a tender filling, and the bola de Berlin came filled with pastry cream along with a sugar-dusted exterior. Absolutely amazing pastries! This little whole in the wall is such a gem for the valley. I ordered one classic nata and a queijada. The pastry on both had a billion flaky, crispy, crunchy layers. This is a good spot to chill over food or dessert! My friends and I were looking for a spot to grab dessert after dinner nearby and we passed by Natas as we were walking, so we decided to try the pastries here. We stopped by Friday around 7:30 and it wasn't busy at all. Everything in the display case looked really good, so we each got one to share. All of the pastries were pretty solid, though I don't think any particular one stood out. There's indoor seating, but we sat outside as it was a nice day out and stayed until they closed, a little after 9 pm. I was excited to find out about this Portuguese restaurant during my trip to LA, and it was memorable. The food was amazing! I let the pictures speak for themselves. I had a very good time there meeting my friend. We both enjoyed the food and can't resist to pick up a full box of pastries home. My friend's pastries were squished in a small box so they got out of shape. The server should have packed hers in a bigger box. A small point taken off because of this, but I truly hope that they do a better job next time. The restaurant is in a small strip mall, so parking situation is not great. Beware not to park behind the restaurant because the parking area belongs to another restaurant and a staff there would stand by and ask you to leave. Love love love my experience here! We started with the pastéis de nata with some coffee/cup of cappuccino; they paired so well together. We then ordered an appetizer - Chouriço Assado (basically a sausage plate with pickled veggies and garlic bread) because I'm a huge fan of portuguese sausage and haven't found it much in LA. I think theirs might be made in house. Then we got two entrees to share - Polvo à Lagareiro (Octopus with Potatoes) and Caldeirada (Seafood Stew), the flavors were divine. The portions were plentiful so we did have some leftovers. Still ended with another round of pastries though, the malasada and morgado (probably my favorite!) The outside patio had a European feel, with many customers sipping on beverages and enjoying their pastries. We sat on the inside, where decor and tiles really brought the Portuguese culture to life. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and the owner Fatima wasn't just walking around, but also serving and pouring water and taking away plates - you could tell she really cared about the place and took pride in her food (also read more about the history on their website).
