Had a phenomenal experience visiting Sweet Lily Bakery! Don't be deceived by the name though, Sweet Lily is so much more than a bakery. In addition to their expertly-crafted pastries, Sweet Lily offers a great variety of French dishes and packaged food items. My group ordered the Sugar Beignet, Raspberry Croissant, and Coffee Croissant - which were all wonderful. The Raspberry Croissant had a not-too-sour fresh jelly filling and was definitely the crowd favorite, but the thick, latte-flavored filling in the Coffee Croissant made it a close second place. The fresh-squeezed orange juice at $5 felt like an absolute bargain, and the Cappuccino was also well-executed. The real stars of the show were the entrees, though. Both the Avocado Toast plate and Croque Monsieur truly tasted like a trip to France. They were hearty and full of flavor, without feeling too heavy. The Sweet Lily twist on Avocado Toast includes melted mozzarella and slices grapes, which really elevated the dish! The potatoes and salads that came as complimentary sides were a welcome surprise, and just as craveable as the entrees themselves. I truly don't think there's a bad thing to order here, and I look forward to returning to this bright and welcoming spot to try more! read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while and my son said he did as well, so we made a lunch date out of it today. It's kind of off the beaten path, where Ventura becomes Cahuenga. Near Barham and on the way to Hollywood. They have a few metered parking spots out front, but I went in and asked if they had their own parking and Mehdi told me they had a couple of spots in the alley behind the building, so that's where we parked. It's a cute place, not too fancy. They refer to it as a Boutique Pastry Shop. There are some snacks/knick knacks available for purchase, along with a refrigerator of drinks towards the back. The left side of the space is the coffee bar and the right side has the pastry cases and food menus. This is where we placed our order with Mehdi, who was pleasant, nice and knowledgeable about the menu and all the pastry items. I was talking to another employee, Gabriel, and asking him questions about the omelettes. He talked me through a few different options and he was also pleasant and kind. I decided on the Veggie Omelette (add mozzarella +$2, and side baguette +$1) with a Decaf Latte (+$0.75 for Oat Milk). My son ordered the Chicken Caprese Panini, which came with Pesto and Mozzarella Cheese. ($17). We also wanted to sample some pastries and we got 1 Nutella Beignet ($5.50), 1 Caribbean & 1 Red Carpet ($8 each), 1 Pear/Almond Tart and 1 Raspberry Tart ($6.50 each). Our total for everything including tip was $91.59, and I'm still kind of in shock over it! This place was SO EXPENSIVE!! Mehdi plated our pastries for us and Gabriel immediately got to work on the omelette and panini. We sat down at one of their many tables and got situated while we waited for the food. It was pretty empty as we were there around 3pm, an hour before they closed. There were two other tables being occupied while we were there. They had nice pop music playing, ranging from 90s-00s songs and artists. There were some nice twinkly lights above us along with the regular lighting of the restaurant. The space was also very clean, but I noticed some wear and tear on the tables/chairs. Once Mehdi brought our food out, we got to eating. My omelette also came with a small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette and some potatoes. I think everything tasted good, especially the omelette, but the potatoes were a bit too greasy for my taste. I also think the portion size was too small for the price. This statement goes for everything we ordered. It was all extremely overpriced for the portions they're offering. My son said his panini was just mediocre and bland. He opened it and added a bunch of salt to it. It was also very skimpy on the chicken, about 4-5 tiny slices inside. Moving onto the pastries, the Pear/Almond was my favorite. It wasn't overly sweet (actually, none of the pastries were), which is what I prefer. It was very delicate and tasty. I also had a bite of the Caribbean which was delicious. They went well with my latte, which tasted very good. I will be trying the rest later. My son had a bite of everything and liked the Caribbean and the Nutella Beignet, saying the rest were just average. I didn't use the restroom but my son did and said it was spotless clean, stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and room spray. The trash was empty, floors and counters were clean. They have one men's and one women's restroom and it's spacious. They began closing down the place about 5 minutes after we finished our bites and nibbling. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means, but I don't think I'll be rushing here anytime soon to try it again. It was just outrageously expensive for what it was. I understand the cost of ingredients, labor, etc it takes to produce pastries and viennoiserie, but I just don't think the quality matched the prices. Just my opinion. I would say the service was great, both Gabriel and Mehdi are great employees! I may or may not come back. We'll see. read more

Today I ordered juice sandwiches, Le parisien via DoorDash from this French bakery, Sweet Lily. I had heard about that place, but I never tried it before: so I am French from Paris and very familiar with the French baguette sandwiches with ham and butter, but this one was a true disappointment: the baguette bread was delicious, but the rest was horrible, we can look at the pictures and you will understand how they only placed one thin slice of ham, and hardly no butter It was $18 for a sandwich‼ Like we would say in French: Ce sandwich est bien "maigrichon" The only reason I give them three stars is because of the bread was so delicious and crispy Not too sure I will order from them again ⁉ read more

Whoa! Amazing French Bakery, with real french people! Amazing little bakery with some of the best baguettes I've had in a while. We ate here twice in 1 week because my girls love their fresh bread (especially from French bakeries). It's a very humble joint with solid breakfast selection. Super nice staff. Found Sweet Lily on Yelp after a hike at Griffith Park on the Fourth of July. Parking was a little challenging since I only found street parking, but it was worth it. Sweet Lily Bakery is kind of a weird establishment located on a weird stretch of Cahuenga Blvd. in the Cahuenga Pass. The space is not really homey enough to feel comfortable, yet it's too big for it to feel like a bakery/coffee stand. It almost feels like a combination of a catering service that decided to open up a brick and mortar. The sandwiches are the highlight of it's menu. I went here on a rainy Sunday afternoon with my family. Didn't realize it was closer to closing time but there were still some fresh desserts left. We ordered a chocolate eclair, opera cake, chocolate twist, almond croissant and a vanilla late and double espresso. The service was great too. Everything tasted so good! I was actually pleasantly surprised! I thought the eclair would have custard inside but it had Nutella but of course my son didn't mind. I would say hands down try the almond croissant and a coffee there. Of course next time I'll have to try their breakfast as I didn't know they also offer breakfast too. The decor was very thoughtful with French flags and cozy seats. I wish it was night time as it looked like they have lovely fairy lights for the evenings. The person at the register was friendly and our food was fresh made and probably took about 20 minutes to arrive. I ordered the alpine tartine without bacon and it was DIVINE. I really enjoyed it and the mix of Brie, sour cream, egg, potatoes, and bread. I did add some hot sauce and pepper but it was very good. I appreciate the side salad to balance out the heaviness. I did not have space for their pastries but they looked amazing. I will say the one major downside is that they did not have espresso or specialty drinks when I visited which I found disappointing. Ah, this spot held so much promise. Alas, it did not live up to the promise. The outdoor tables are close to a busy street, so unless you want to inhale exhaust, head inside. Although it was hot, it didn't seem like the AC was on inside. This made for an uncomfortable experience. It was just too warm. Ordering takes place at the counter. There is a long display of largely sweet treats. We opted for a plain croissant, a chocolate croissant, and a quiche with salad. The croissant was okay, but it was on par with the ones you get from Costco. This is NOT what I had in mind for a French cafe. The chocolate croissant was so dry and stale that it left us parched. As for the quiche, I couldn't get over the very strong mustard taste. It was extremely unpleasant, and it didn't gel with the other flavors of the quiche. Mustard and bacon do NOT go together. The crust was also disappointing. I expected a real butter crust at a French cafe, not chunky bread. Parking is extremely limited. The spots at the back of the restaurant wreak like trash due to proximity to the dumpster. However, there is a decent amount of street parking and paid parking right across the street. read more

The baked goods looked good and the menu offered nice options. So, we ended up ordering 3 different food items and pastries. Their croissants were delicious and the raspberry filled ones have LOTS of jam (be prepared for it to go everywhere). The food was well seasoned. My 10 yo ordered the English breakfast and the beans were some of the tastiest we have ever had. And they adjusted the drink for her by making it an iced hot chocolate. My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Sweet Lily Bakery. It was the morning that he would be finding out if he passed the Bar exam or not, so we decided to open his results together at Sweet Lily Bakery. After we saw that he passed, I told the employees and I asked if it'd be okay to open the bottle of champagne I had brought with me. Had an oat milk latte and a chocolate almond croissant and they were delicious! My friend had the drip coffee and a chocolate twist (which was filled with a little custard) and she liked that as well.
