The person who helped me was incredibly kind, full of good energy, and had a smile that made you feel welcome right away. He walked me through how the order could be packed and told me he'd take care of it. A few minutes later he came out with a pizza‑box‑sized box, opened it for me, and I was blown away. The borekas were arranged beautifully, almost like an artist had put them together, with the egg and pickled vegetables tucked in perfectly. It looked stunning. We're eating them tonight, but the service alone made my day. It's rare to start the morning with someone who genuinely cares about their work and the people they're helping. PARKING: I think there is a lot but I parked right on the street because I saw someone pull out. Lucky day! SEATING: Only outdoor seating but it is nice and quaint. The view isn't much but I love how open the seating is. It is about 10 small tables. Not many people when I came. Love the music that they have playing! It is so calming! I love this little spot. The outdoor eating area is small, but very cozy and beautifully decorated. The Borekas are so good....the pickles, tomato stuff, and eggs go so perfectly with them. The boiled eggs were a perfect touch too, just the right amount of salt and pepper and a beautiful yolk. I had the mushroom and carmelized onion boreka which was near perfect. We were in the area and felt like some.coffee before heading home. We stopped at Borekas and were swept up in pastry goodness arrayed before us. We ordered two of the Turkish Coffees and added a Cultured Cheese and Zatar Borekas as well as a Labane and Zatar Borekas. A festival of tastes exploded as we bit into these savory delights. The cultured cheese and Zatar was constructed with a light flaky pastry shell covered in Zatar surrounding the smooth creamy cheese center. This was tremendous! The pickles, olives, and perfectly boiled egg were perfect accompaniments. The labane and Zatar borekas was equally delicious. The labane was a little more substantial in its texture with a milder taste than the cultured cheese. The flaky pastry shell and Zatar complimented the delectable labane in this great selection. Came by on a Sunday morning to pick up these delicious goodies on my way to watch some football at a friend's house in the valley. I was originally going to hit up their first location, but saw this pop up. So glad I made the choice to come here! Service is pretty much the same. Friendly people you order from at the window and wait for your goods. Everything is neatly packaged and well presented. I got three different flavors, which all came with some boiled egg, plenty of pickles, and some schug (sauce). I got one of each - cheese/spinach, cheese/zaatar, and potato/brown butter. They cut them up so it's highly shareable. Same quality as the other place in my opinion - buttery and flakey with delicious flavors. This spot just feels infinitely more chill than the original location. So if timing/ distance is not a factor, I would opt to come here because the experience is so much easier including the parking. I came here on a friend's recommendation and I knew about their infamous wait time as well as the difficult parking situation in the other location. I'm so thankful I came to this location because there was no line and no wait. Best part: parking was easy. The staff were really nice and friendly if we had any questions and luckily all the items on the menu were available, even though the other store may have already sold out of it. It's only 10 minutes away so if you're stuck in a long line waiting for parking in the other location, you can just drive over to this one. The borekas themselves are delicious and I managed to split the different flavors. I even had the seasonal(?) one and that was really good. The tomato, pickle, and egg that they include help complete the meal. I also tried their chocolate boreka and that was a nice dessert after the more savory ones. It's all outdoor seating but likely you won't be hanging around for too long because you'll finish eating up the borekas in a quick second. That sh-- was GAS, it was some of the silkiest potato I've ever had and it came in a super flakey pastry. They came packed hot and fresh in a pizza box, loaded with pickles, jammy eggs, dipping sauces, and more. Not surprisingly. I dug into that box even before returning to my car. I love that they opened up a 2nd location in Van Nuys. This place feels less congested to access than the Sherman Oaks location that is crammed into an already tightly fit space in a very busy strip mall. I ordered for pick up in advance and ordered one of each savory to go for my family visiting from out of town. Then I ordered 3x of their other popular savory dishes for my hubby and I. When I called they ask what time you'd like to pick up and you have to prepay over the phone when making the order. I was able to easily pull up and park on Van Nuys Boulevard and the whole transaction took less then 5 minutes since there was no line at this time. The food is immaculate. Visiting from SF, haven't had Borekas for 13 years and this not only hit the spot, it exceeded all of my expectations and cravings. This is coming from a chef that has made Borekas before! I am very detail oriented and every bite was great. Hard to do! I can tell that the chef / owner or whoever is in charge of this menu knows their stuff with the genius brown butter touch on the potato one. I've also gotten the spinach and cheese which was great. First and foremost, I'm so glad Borekas opened another spot in the valley! They might have started as a small establishment but they pack a big punch when it comes to amazing comfort food. Their savory pastries always come out fresh and warm with your choice of 4 different flavors for their popular Borekas. And any way you order it, it always comes with a perfectly seasoned soft boiled egg, pickles, house tomato sauce and hot paste. The combination of all things together in one bite is indescribable as it's the equivalent of a warm hug. The combination of sweet, salty, flaky and tart hits all the right spots on your flavor palette. All times I've waited at the window, the employees are small but extremely nice, helpful with questions about their menu, and very accommodating about getting you your order. This time around, I pre ordered their classic cheese & za'taar (an instant fave) and by the time I got to the window to pickup my order, I decided to try out their boker toast as well since I'm already there. The girl at the window obliged and offered to bring my new order to my car which gave me time to catch up on other things. The boker toast was delish! You can taste the hint of olives from their tapenade hidden under the creamy egg salad. The crunchy bits of the sesame seeds on top and fresh herbs made it stand out from any typical egg salad sandwich. And the sliced and seasoned cucumbers were a nice touch to cut down the richness. Their new location on Van Nuys Blvd is much larger than the original and it's much easier to find parking. It's also convenient for me as it's that much closer to my house. You need to wait a little bit for your food to be prepped, but it's well worth it. They offer single serving box or a family style box too. Their most popular is the potato and brown butter, but I went ahead and ordered three types: the cultured cheese and za'atar, potato and brown butter, and fungi and onion and truffle. I tried all three and loved them. I think if you love cheese, you'll love the cheese and za'atar! But honestly you can't go wrong with any of them.
