    Chocolate Boreka

I love this little spot. The outdoor eating area is small, but very cozy and beautifully decorated. The Borekas are so good....the pickles, tomato stuff, and eggs go so perfectly with them. The chocolate Borekas are amazing too! The workers are always friendly. My favorite is the potato Boreka. I can't wait to go back!

Why Borekas Sephardic Pastries - Certified kosher by rcc - Easy online ordering for all locations - Aging quality dough, high quality clarified butter, and NO SEED OILS ever! Food 4.5/5 I've tried all their borekas and they are delish! Think of it like a mini croissant breadstick filled! LOVE how it comes with eggs and pickles too Service 4/5 Quick, easy, and friendly If you haven't tried a Mediterranean pastry, it's very very unique and tasty

First time at this location to have lunch with my mom. It's more spacious with a few tables and chairs to sit and enjoy while the borekas are warm. They have a few options for filling. We ordered one cheese and zaatar which is my favorite. And we got one spinach and cheese my mom's favorite. Both very flavorful and delicious. It's served with a boiled egg , pickles and two kinds of house sauces. It's very delicious. Customer service was friendlier at this location unlike the other one on Ventura. Will be coming here from now on.

Amazing pastries. I loved the taste of the fungi, onions & truffle boreka. Best to eat for breakfast or anytime of the day as your preference. Their Borekas always came out warm with eggs, sauces, and pickles. The crust was flaky and all the ingredients inside were warm and tasty. Cultured Cheese and Za'atar Boreka was good as well. It was simple but yet the cheese was soft inside with baked crust on the outside was the best of both worlds. Service was great and fast. This place was on the street but there were plenty of seating area with tables at the front of this place. Plenty of parking on the street. I just eat there at their tables while pastries were warm and fresh. Highly recommend these pastries!

well, again, if I could give a six stars to this place, I would I placed an order for my lunch and for my house, and it is such a delicious place to order borekas! They are so fresh, light, and flaky! A true delight‼

Good service, fresh food, they got a limited menu which makes it easy to choose. Ordered the cultured cheese & za'atar Lots of interesting and delicious flavors. I think 1 order will fill you up. Comes with boiled egg, pickled cucumber, and 2 different salsas.

This place is severely underrated. Flakiest pastries with the most delectable filling choices. Perfect pairing of sauces and sides (jammy eggs and pickles), that make this meal such a treat. Quick to order with a simple menu with ample clean outdoor seating, they absolutely knock it out of the park every time. You can't go wrong with any of them, but I love the Zaatar and cheese. I wish they get more business!

Delicious! Both locations are great, but I prefer this one because it has a nice outdoor seating area. Staff is super nice and helpful too! Good is always good, love the mint lemonade too!

full review on my tiktok @betthanyx- HIGHLY recommend this place! first time trying borekas but I can tell the pastry quality is high. i believe they use aged dough with clarified butter. definitely try their traditional flavor, cheese and za'atar (9.5/10). truffle mushroom onion was a bit underwhelming (7/10) but the spinach and cheese was good (8/10)! 14$ each boreka

    Caramelized onion and mushroom boreka

First time trying borekas and I'm hooked. This place is for the pickle-lovers! I was so excited to get some chopped up pickles on the side of my boreka. The boiled eggs were a perfect touch too, just the right amount of salt and pepper and a beautiful yolk. I had the mushroom and carmelized onion boreka which was near perfect. The dough was golden, flakey and buttery. I really dream about doughs like this. To be absolutely perfect, I would've loved to have the caramelized onions come through a little more. The staff were super sweet. I got my order through a window pick-up/order area. That's all they really have, which is kind of cute. Although they don't have indoor seating, they do have a few chairs out in front of a shaded patio area.

Borekas Sephardic Pastries is the kind of place you stop by for a quick bite and end up staying for more. The Borekas are flaky, the fillings are balanced. My favorite, Cultured Cheese & Za'atar, excellent! Even with multiple locations, they've kept the same authentic quality and consistency. Limited casual seating and easy parking. Spinach and cheese borekas with egg, pickles and grated tomatoes. Schug on the side.

Ethnic hole-in-the-walls tend to be some of my favorite. This one is both literally and figuratively that - you order by walking up to a small order window, then sit outside on the patio. How LA of you! How reminiscent of Covid days! The food is the star here. Authentic to a tee. Perfectly Israeli, with just the right trimmings - soft boiled egg, grated tomatoes and Israeli pickles. I still wish the egg would be smushed into the boreka (singular?) like I experienced on visits to Israel. Also, the schug? Weak! Either make your own, better, version; or buy something else. This barely passes for schug.

Recently discovered this new cuisine and very happy that I did. Here's what I've ordered... Pinukin sandwich: Excellent Borekas (cultured cheese & za'atar, potato and brown butter): Excellent The chili sauce, pickles and hard boiled eggs that come with the borekas makes the whole meal enjoyable. There's only outdoor seating and you place an order at the counter. It's located on noisy Van Nuys Blvd, so I just take it home to eat.

They use Onyx (from what i noticed), and the sound of the milk being steamed sounded silky (-: ! The layout of the cafe is nice: entry/line formation moves in a counter clockwise motion. Allows customers to enter space and wait in line while leaving space for people to exit/ wait to pick up their drink. First come, first serve for pastries - expect this for freshness purposes. Drink and their components are measured for consistency and quality control. Wait is subjective in relation to volume at the time which you go. Came in at about 1:30 PM on a Sunday (today was 8/16). Curated menu for their specialty drinks that aligns with their identity. Standard menu for espresso based beverages. Great selection for their Single Origin menu. Roasters they use align with those they highlight on their shelves for retail as a multi-roaster cafe. Ordered a Columbia from Hydrangea - enjoyed thoroughly! When it was still quite hot you get the heavy aroma and flavor of the pastry notes in the coffee. Then more tea-like once it cools down more. Coldbrew in the Woodman did not feel like your typical bold-in-flavor base. Which I think works for the inclusions in the beverage. Not your typical/second wave coffee shop. It's cool to see shops want to bridge that gap between fun drinks and specialty coffee! Kudos to Lynx!

It was 7:58 a.m., and I stopped in to grab my usual coffee before my appointment next door. I accidentally left my wallet at home, my Apple Pay wasn't working, and the only cash I had was a $100 bill. My total was only $8.50. I even offered a simple solution--I asked if another employee could pay for my coffee and I would immediately Zelle them the money. All three employees told me that was "beyond their job duties" and refused to help. Instead, they pointed to the sign stating they don't accept $100 bills and had me leave without making any effort to accommodate a regular customer. The disappointing part isn't that they couldn't break a $100 bill--it's that no one showed even the slightest willingness to help find a solution. I come here almost every Friday because I have appointments at the salon next door, and after this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. A little kindness and customer service go a long way. Unfortunately, I found neither here.

And ONLY Rap. It was so annoying. I guess this is what the new generation loves. Walked in yesterday at 2:15pm, and got a very nice, pleasant, warm welcome from Michael and Joey. Both great and happy kids. Michael took my order and was pretty knowledgeable with the menu. I ordered the Crema Burrito that came with: Tator Tots, Scrambled eggs, Avocado, and Jalapeño. They had 2 of the same Burrito. One with Bacon, and the other one w/out ($15.56). Portion of the Burrito was very small for the price, and was lukewarm. Food overall along with beverages were expensive! I also got a single butter Croissant and asked him to warm it up. The Croissant was nicely warm, flaky, buttery and very good! ($6.23). The Baked Goods case was practically empty. Wanted a Blueberry Muffin, and they were out. Last but not least, got their 16oz. Coconut Cloud Matcha ($9.34). Matcha was made perfectly. I still had to water it down a little. The flavor hit the mark though. Trying to get more familiar with different types of Matchas. The Coffee Shop was clean and very quaint. Also, comfortable seating with round, brown cushions. When you walk in, it's hard to miss the nice motorcycle right in the middle of the shop. I wanted to know what did that represent? Michael said that the owners wife bought that for her husband. Where can I get one? The husband, not the motorcycle.:-) They have no parking, only street and metered. Nice outdoor seating all around. The main thing that stands out here is their 1987 coffee roaster which is the center piece of the cafe. They roast various single origin beans on a daily basis, so you know you can purchase some fresh coffee beans here. They have beans of light roast, medium roast and dark roast and sell by various weights for a very reasonable price. They also sell various tea leaves, baked goods (croissant, muffin, scones, bagel, Danish, coffee cake, Dessert Therapy cookies, and merchs. They also have a seasonable menu that changes. When I went, it was the Sakura season menu. Staff were all friendly and were very willing to answer any questions regarding the menu. Please note, the base coffee blend for each day varies and rotates on a daily basis For my visit, I tried ... 1. Buttered Coffee (4.5/5) The base coffee for the day was the Peru single origin, which was well-balanced; slightly sweet with a hint of tartness and nuttiness. They then add a chunk of butter into the coffee, which helps cut some of the acidity, but also is supposed to enhance the caffeine effect and give you additional energy from the fat. It does leave a layer of fat/oiliness so if you are not a fan of that, then this may not be for you. The butter did give it a subtle buttery flavor, which I personally liked. 2. Matcha with Sakura Cold Foam (4/5) The matcha was blended smoothly and was not grassy at all. The Sakura cold foam didn't really taste like Sakura (been to Japan, so know what real Sakura flavor should taste like), but instead, just tasted floral. 3. Got lucky with parking about only a block away and walked over. Very busy!! Love the high ceilings in here and it looks like it was connected to some kind of homeware shop? Didn't really look and was more focused on trying to figure out what to order lol!! They only have a small menu on the counter right when you order. Would be nice to have it on the wall to browse while waiting in the long line. The menu is very simple though so I ended up just getting an iced caramel latte and my bf got an iced matcha latte. I also got a toasted everything croissant which was absolutely fantastic!! Perfect jalapeno cream cheese in the middle. Delish!! The drinks took a bit but it was also very busy so I understand. Two workers but they managed and had great energy! Loved our drinks as well. Super creamy, strong, not overly sweet!! They are also pet friendly and even have a water bowl inside by the entryway. Great spot and would definitely come back if I happen to be in the area. IG: @ammysalamii

I've been wanting to check out the Boy & The Bear for a while now, so because I was in the area, I…read moredecided to stop by for a coffee and croissant. It's a really cute little cafe, that shares a space with a furniture store. It's located in a great part of Sherman Oaks and it seemed like the place had many regulars. Upon entering I was greeted by both the barista and the cashier/barista. It was quite busy on a Friday at 10:30 am, but I managed to get seating outdoors. It was fully packed inside! I ordered an iced latte and managed to get their lack everything croissant. The girl who took my order was very sweet and friendly. She warmed up my croissant and it was ready in a few mins. Now, my coffee took over 20 minutes to be made. I saw the barista make orders that were placed after mine. Some seemed to be for his regulars, which was annoying and was not appreciated. I was also in a bit of a rush, but managed to just make it out in time for my appointment. I enjoyed the coffee and croissant, but did not appreciate waiting over 20 mins for my iced latte which should have been ready with my croissant!
