This is not a 3 star establishment!! I have been to this beautiful, lovely, quaint, cozy, gorgeous Marie et Coffee shop/restaurant before, maybe like 10 years ago. It is family owned and has so much charm to it that you don't know which part to look at. Indoor and Patio seating available. Walked in yesterday morning at 9:40AM and was greeted by Vick, he was a bit serious & stiff. Taking his job way too seriously. Could have smiled and showed at least 3 of his teeth. For a new employee, he was good. Placed an order with him at the counter, and Wagner brought out our orders. I was with one of my former coworkers. We got a couple of items and shared. Avocado Toast with one nice sized over medium organic egg (open face) on Sourdough bread ($14.99), that came with Hash Browns and 2 crispy slices of Applewood Bacon. We also got their Organic Farmers Omelette (GF) prepared with 3 organic Eggs, Mushrooms, Spinach, Organic Tomatoes, 3 colored Bell Peppers, Scallions, and topped with Provolone Cheese with a side of Hash Browns. I wanted an order of English Muffin (toasted) and in less than 3 minutes, it was already on our table. Free of charge. Last but not least, I got a 16 oz. Iced Vanilla Latte with Coconut Milk (6.60), (+0.85) for the milk. Instead of getting decaf, I accidentally ordered the regular. Asked Wagner to change it and he gladly did. Our food tasted very fresh, hot and delicious. As I was writing some of the ingredients from their extensive menu options on a piece of paper, Charles (the owner) approached me and wanted to know what it was that I am writing down. I explained to him that I do Yelp reviews and showed him one of my Yelp swag, then he kind of faked a smile and walked away. Atmosphere/Ambiance has gorgeous, bright chandeliers hanging inside the restaurant that elevate the look in the most interesting way. Very chic, classy, & elegant. They also have great, beautiful artwork hanging everywhere inside and outside of the restaurant. Restaurant is a very nice size. They have a private dining room for special events. They also have a cute small gift shop, ready made salads, baked goods, sandwiches (hot & cold), other types of beverages: bottled, canned, ready-made fruit in 16.oz plastic cups and that's all I can remember. Private parking lot that has about 10 spots to park. Also street parking. Gender neutral restroom and it was clean, except the urinal was out of order. Fully stocked with all the essentials. I've been meaning to try this spot for years!! There is a small parking lot and we were able to snag a spot. You order food at the counter, find a seat, and pick up your food when your buzzer goes off. I liked the variety on the menu and really enjoyed my vanilla latte and breakfast burrito! The boutique is also cute and would be a good place to find a gift for a mother in law or anyone artistic or into jewelry. So many fun things. The gem of Valley Village! My new regular when in Valley Village. Best Shashuka ans Tuna Melt in LA Had Shashuka for breakfast. Today had Shashuka with a friend!One order enough for two! Still loving this place! They make their coffee using the beans from "groundwork." It's organic, full bodied and just perfect for this girl! My latte with oat milk was perfect today! I also ordered a banana muffin which was moist in the middle but had a crunchy muffin top! Not too sweet either! Perfection! Parking is a bit tricky but worth the effort. Had to ask for the afternoon menu, which was taken back and put away after I ordered, to find the Marie crunch roll I wanted, which is why I rated it 4 instead of 5 stars. It had been a several years since I last tried Marie et Cie but recently decided to try them again cause I remember enjoying them the few times I came before when I lived in the area. I got a simple BLT which came with a side of fries. The food was pretty good and everything tasted great. While the food is good and the restaurant offers generous outdoor seating there is simply a feeling that something is lacking from this resturant. It is counter service so you need to order at the register and then go pick up your food when it is ready, as well as bus your table. Nothing I normally mind personally but for me to recommend a place the lack of even a bus person lowers the worth of an establishment. If you are looking for a decent place to have some privacy, maybe work outside on a nice day and be in a peaceful setting, Marie et Cie might jsut be the place for you. Been visiting this little café in Shop since 1996 at the corner of Colfax and Riverside. The shop is filled with the most fascinating gifts and collectibles by individual artisans amazingly low prices. The café still offers a bountiful selection of French baked delicacies, sandwiches, and salads, accompanied by a range of coffees, teas and smoothies to suit just about anybody. Service feels like everything served by your brother or sister while cozy at home with your mom and dad. Weather inside or outside on the umbrella covered patio, this is an oasis. The gated in private parking lot usually has space for 80% capacity, but there is additional street parking available. there are a few similar style places down in Studio City, but this one is Valley Village's home. read more

First time at Marie et Cie. I just happen to drive by and noticed they have a little bakery and huge parking lot. I was looking for a new coffee shop and bakery in the San Fernando Valley to frequent. The place is very spacious and has ample of parking spots. They have dining tables inside and outside. It's a very quaint and cute place. The chandeliers hanging give you that classic feel. I love the set up. I didn't have any interaction with the 2 workers at the bakery since they didn't acknowledge me. I had to ask them if I can purchase some items and that's when the male worker said sure let me help you. I ordered the Key Lime Tart & French Apple Tart to go. I wanted to order coffee as well but they seemed like they didn't want to be bothered. The Key Lime Tart was delicious. It has the right amount of tanginess. Wanted to look for a nice bottle of hand soap and find a birthday gift so I stopped in. I pulled the door and it hit the hanging light outside. The door clearly says push but who reads doors? Nice little bakery. Parking lot is very small only about 6 spots but there is street parking. Plenty of sweets wanted an eclaire but not for $8 lol. There are tables inside and outside. I guess you order at front then sit down. The employee at the counter was ok. She was kind of standing around, no greeting or offer to assist until we asked. After telling a good friend, I really enjoy breakfast burritos he recommended. I try this place out. Nice hidden gem, parking is a little tight, but the location is great. Nice patios to sit on as well as not too loud. The staff was super friendly and took the time to explain the menu and side dishes. Got the breakfast burrito with steak and a side of sautéed potatoes with onions and peppers. Food was fresh and still steaming hot when I got it. The steak was cooked perfectly, the burrito was delicious and of course I ate all the potatoes, even though I was full. A generous portion for the money. Will definitely be back. read more

Both of these items were very delicious and the location itself is incredibly cute and cozy. Cute French Cafe with delicious pastries, that's perfect for a weekend brunch with friends. They've been open for 25+ years, and it has a super chill vibe overall. Workers are friendly and accommodating. Menu items are priced reasonable and offer a lot of options. Iced coffee was great alongside the banana cream tart dessert. One of the best I've had. I ordered the lox bagel which was delicious however, it doesn't come presentable like in my photo. (I styled it that way) I personally had to spread my own cream cheese (from packets) and ask for capers on the side because they forgot them. At least the smoked salmon was a good amount. Very cute cafe. Great to do some work at. The food is really good and they have a surprising amount of options for such a small place. I usually get a matcha latte from here and sometimes take a walk around the neighborhood. Super convenient as I live nearby. The store also has a store attached to it. As the name suggestion this is a French inspired cafe. The staff is real friendly and kind. I really like this small cute cafe. The vibe is a bite European while being cute and wholesome. The regulars customer seems nice too. The music is lovely while not being too loud. I drank a Hot Chai drink and it tasted really good. The drink came out fast too. Coming in the early pre-noon time on a Saturday, I can say it's very relaxed and not crowded. The cafe has a variety of both hot and cold drinks. In the front there is a bake goods section. Also, there is a large assortment of ready made sandwiches, wraps, salads and snacks. While I recommend staying, you can also take from a large selection of food or bottle drinks if you are on a short lunch break. Another thing I love is there is seating in the outside and inside. The outside seating has shade, so in can sit quite comfortably outside. I think that is a really nice aspect of this cafe. read more

I find myself here on a blissful saturday afternoon, surrounded by wonderful sights and smells. I had the distinct pleasure of trying their balsamic chicken sandwich, and combined with caramelized onions, every bite was as luxurious as it was delicious. I also had a chance to try a bite of their croque madame and it was as if I was eating an art piece. Combined with a strawberry banana smoothie they offer, I feel readily prepared to take on my day. I've ordered food from here but have never gone in person until now. The hashbrowns are great, the chipotle wrap was good. Waffles were good. The prices were great, three of us had brunch and paid under 40 bucks for the food. That's a great deal these days. The actual aesthetic was underwhelming compared to what I pictured after years of driving by. I pictured a well curated antique and furniture store, but it's more random nick backs and tables around a parking lot. The planets make it more vibey and pleasant. The music was phenomenal, very old school European. Close your eyes and it's almost like you're at a sidewalk cafe in Paris in a cheesy movie with a great score. Would go back. There is no service- you, the customer, have to wait in line to order, pick up your order, and then bus your own trash/dishes, but in their rules they basically demand that you tip. This is insulting and aggravating. My wife's acai thing was terrible- small and tasteless. Every other acai bowl on earth is better than this one. This little shop is unassuming, tucked in neatly to the restaurant it shares a complex with but serving mostly as a narrow coffee shop with breakfast options. The coffee is good! I also enjoyed the baked good that I ordered here, one of their coffee cakes. I had ordered a large and they gave me a small. When I told them it was wrong, he put it in a large cup and just added more milk. When I asked about the extra shot, he said it only came with 2 no matter what size you got.... That makes no sense!!! So we are paying extra for a large cup and some extra milk? Petite French inspired Cafe with a selection of delicious looking pastries, crosaints, breads and salads. They had a large coffee, tea and drinks selection. I walked in to use the restroom only, I was on a walk with my boyfriend & didn't buy anything this time as we had lunch waiting for us back at his place. I have to admit, when I walked in the employees didn't say a word, no hello or welcome. And the pastries looked phenomenal but they are definitely a bit on the high priced side. They also have a cute antique shop attached next door which I'll have to look at if I have time again. I appreciated the French decor,the bubbling water fountain, the nice flowers. I come here all the time to get work done. I like the selection of bakery items and drinks. I usually dont order meals but from what I see and smell on other tables, the food looks promising. Theres always a lot of seating and outlets, and plenty of parking nearby. What's really cool is I always overhear all kinds of people, young and old, talking in all sorts of languages. I actually found this place online when I was looking to buy a particular candle and balked at the shipping prices. So, I decided to drive up the 101 when I found out this shop carried it. Marie et Cie is a café with a housewares and gift shop. Or is it a giftshop that happens to have a café? After going here I'm not quite sure. I entered the most left room and found my candle (score). I then got a double espresso at the coffee bar. It was fine. (Neither amazing, nor terrible. Just a pretty good espresso.) I didn't sit down, but started moving around the place where every corner had some merchandise, even right next to tables. As I moved to the central and right room I started for to see more and more housewares. A lot of it looked very familiar. Nothing of poor quality, but things that I have seen before at World Market, Marshalls or TJ Maxx. They carry a number of candles from the Spitfire Girl line as well as Voluspa, both of which I'm fond of. And there were also a few nice fragrances for sale, so I don't mean to suggest that there is nothing here worth checking out. But as I examined the three rooms, I didn't see very much that screamed unique. The staff was friendly enough while I did my shopping. If this store chose to be a bit more exclusive in the merchandise it carried, I could see it being a really fun place to visit. There was definitely some items aiming at a French vibe (certainly appropriate given the name), but with all the French milled soaps and other products on the market...if they specialized more I think they could really be something quite special. Lastly, one thing that bugged me was that I was charged a higher price for the candle than that which appeared on their website. So, after going to the trouble of driving here I ended up paying more than if I had ordered it online. If I hadn't really wanted that candle now, I would have waited till it was back in stock at Spitfire Girl on Hillhurst. read more
