If you want amazing photos -- wedding, engagement, modeling, whatever -- Nathan is your guy. We hired him to do our wedding after seeing some of his work. Actually, he was a guest at our friend's wedding reception (not the hired photographer) and took some random shots on his own, and they were so awesome that we were sold. We looked at a lot of other photographers' work, but none compared to Nathan's. So not only is he beyond talented at what he does, he's the coolest, most down to earth guy ever. We felt instantly comfortable with him, as if he was one of our friends at our wedding. So if you want something different than the standard, cookie-cutter wedding photos, check out Nathan's work. It truly speaks for itself. I think you'll love him as much as we do. :) We seriously could not be happier with the beautiful, amazing, incredible images he captured!

THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT When looking for an engagement shoot photographer we knew this was a saturated OC market with lots of claims from photographers, but nothing about what would make a good photographer. Subsequently we were faced with lot of choices, but came across Nathan Jaffan photography after a glowing recommendation from a friend. In review of his portfolio his passion for photography was obvious but what also stood out is his innate ability to capture the right moments and make everyone look their best. Furthermore, his images weren't just "traditional"; he had an amazing spectrum of shots like I've never seen before. After deciding Nathan was a fit, our selection of his services continued to be validated in working with him throughout the process. Despite his recent debut in the industry (you would never know it by his portfolio), he arrived at the shoot with the vision and direction of a seasoned professional. Throughout the entire process, Nathan was accommodating, helpful and responsive. It's the delivering on the latter without sacrificing quality that creates the greatest satisfaction when using a service. I say this, because, let's be honest, it's that turnaround of professional proofs that is the most exciting part of this process so we can all post/send that link to . THE WEDDING Needless to say, after the engagement shoot we instantly booked Nathan Jaffan Photography for our wedding. Again, he blew our minds with his talent and vision! Nathan's detail, passion, and professionalism is unmatched. He took the time to understand our vision and took it beyond anything we could have encapsulated with words. The best way I can describe it is that was a "documentary" of our actual day. He captured both traditional, memorable, candid, and surprised moments of our wedding that left those invited and those who admired via in awe. Nathan Jaffan photography has created memories that will outlive both of us.

There are so many wonderful things to be said about Nathan. I'll start will his professional, friendly, and prompt response when I reached out to him initially via email. Nathan always replied in a timely manner, was warm and kind, and was helpful in offering suggestions. When we arrived for our maternity photo shoot Nathan was already there and prepared. My husband and I were blown away by the beauty of the location (a spot Nathan had recommended when asked). During the shoot, Nathan made us feel relaxed, comfortable, and kept smiles on our faces. My husband and I are not what you would call naturals in front of a camera, and Nathan kept the environment fun, light, and comfortable. (I feel I should note that this is the first time in the almost 9 years I've known my husband that I didn't hear one complaint out of him during (or after) the whole time he was having his picture taken!) After we were done with the photo shoot, Nathan gave us a sweet surprise of water bottles and Kind bars for our hour ride home. Such thoughtfulness! Our photos arrived via email link and on a CD in a timely manner, and holy smokes are they beautiful! The quality of the pictures, and the talent that Nathan possesses can't be put into words! Everything was just...wow! My husband, family, friends, and I are just blown away by the pictures. From beginning to end we can't thank Nathan enough for everything he did! He is a true professional, kind individual, and wonderfully talented photographer. We will have these gifts (photos) he gave us to treasure for a lifetime.

Finding the right photographer for our wedding was one of my top priorities. Out of all of the money we are spending for that day, the pictures are the only thing we'll keep forever. None of the vendor suggestions provided by our venue seemed right so I took my search to yelp, which is where I found Nathan. As soon as I looked at his website, I was pretty certain I had found our photographer. In addition to the stunning photos he has posted, I was able to get a glimpse of his sense of humor and knew he would be a good match for us. What I like best about his work is that he incorporates the background and light beautifully with his subjects, and they work perfectly together with neither overshadowing the other or competing for attention. He responded promptly to my inquiry and we set up a meeting to have an opportunity to see some more of his work in person and be sure that he would be a good fit with our personalities. I had a little test for the photographers I met with which was to show them an example of an awkward family portrait that I would like to recreate during our wedding session(thanks pinterest!!). Not only did Nathan not roll his eyes at me, but I could tell that he got my sense of humor and is game to try anything. As soon as he let me know he would be able to accommodate my request for a second shooter, I was sold and signed the contract as soon as possible before some other bride stole him away for our date. So far we have had our engagement shoot, which was included in the package we selected, and the results far exceeded any expectations we had. I wanted a quirky setting for our photos and decided to do it at Pioneertown, which is an old western movie set/current tourist attraction out in Yucca Valley. Nathan is such a good sport and didn't flinch at the idea of driving more than two hours to do our session. He really put us at ease and isn't afraid to crawl and lay down in the dirt to get the perfect shot. A couple of days after he posted a sample picture from the day that was so beautiful that I would have been 100% satisfied had that been the only picture we got from the day. Obviously it wasn't, and a few short weeks later he provided us with the edited photos and each one was better than the last. It was almost impossible to pick a favorite for our save the date!! He provides three files: high resolution for printing, smaller files for posting on line, and one with his water mark that he humbly requests you use on social media to help spread the word for his amazing services if you are so inclined. As if his talent wasn't enough, I would be remiss if I didn't mention his OUTSTANDING customer service. First, he was the only vendor I met with who wasn't late for our meeting. I almost hired him without speaking a word when he showed up early. He communicates with you every step of the way and provides updates and checks in so you know you haven't been forgotten as there is such a long time lapse from signing the contract to the actual day. He sent us a lovely Christmas gift over the holidays that was so unnecessary and completely appreciated. On our way home from the engagement shoot, we wanted to buy him dinner as a thank you and he insisted on treating us. Our wedding is four months away and I am so thankful I found Nathan to capture it for us. We are already so happy with his work every step of the way and know that he will provide us with the most beautiful memories of our day. I'm sure that our relationship with him wont end with our wedding and he'll be the photographer we'll use for the family we are building together.

Nathan recently did a family photo shoot for us and as always the pictures turned out AMAZING. He is the most talented photographer and so fun to work with. Even though Nathan has been booked every weekend for weddings and photoshoots since we took our pictures, he worked non-stop to edit our pictures so we would have them in time to give as gifts this Christmas! He is so professional and really cares about his clients. I'm continuously impressed by him and his work.

We booked Nathan to be our wedding photographer later this summer and were thrilled with our engagement photo session. He drove down to San Diego to shoot us in some of our favorite local spots and truly captured us in our element. My fiance is a little camera shy, but Nathan was so easy going that we were all able to relax - leading to some awesome pics! Nathan prepared us ahead of time by suggesting a few different locations, several outfit changes, and encouraged us to bring along some props. He also gave us some great direction during the actual shoot, without making us feel too posed. After seeing the final edited photos, it is evident that Nathan has an innate talent for photography. Combine that with his creativity, strong work ethic, and attention to detail and you have an amazing photographer. We can hardly wait for him to shoot our wedding in August!

If you want to re-live your big day over and over again years later, James is your guy! My wife and I had never done a professional photoshoot. Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera. After interviewing 5 different photographers, we knew from our first conversation that James was the one. He is incredibly friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. We agreed to do an engagement session, 1 location for 90mins to see if we'd be comfortable working with James. It couldn't have gone better. Initially, we were a bit stiff, but James gave us tips on how to act naturally, suggested poses and hand positions that made us feel and look relaxed. The time flew by and we actually ended up going to a second location with a wardrobe change. Overall, it was about 2 hours. James did not mind at all. In fact, he probably could've gone longer if the sun hadn't set on us! Our photos were edited and received in less than 2 weeks! James was kind enough to print a large poster and sign that shipped to our house in just a few days. He price matched any package/prints from other photographers. Having gone through our engagement session seamlessly, we hired James to shoot our wedding as well. He and an assistant were on site for 10 hours, tending to our every need and keeping us on our timeline. After our planned family/wedding party photos, we hardly even noticed them working as we proceeded with wedding events. After the wedding, we received many compliments on how great James was and several guests asked for his contact information. Within a couple of days, we received a preview of about 20 photos highlighting our big day. We were thrilled! Every important moment was captured so elegantly! The full magazine of photos was available for download in about 1 month. James then worked with us to print a high quality photo book for our coffee table. You can't go wrong with James--his high quality work and work ethic speak for themselves. There is no substitute for how easy and stress free he made us feel, so that we could truly enjoy ourselves knowing that he would capture every single moment candidly. Do not hesitate to hire James, it will be the best decision you will ever make.

Some backstory...Imagix/Michelle has done our yearly photos for our son from ages 1 to now 5. (See my past reviews). From somehow capturing a perfect moment from our perpetually moving blur of a son (ages 1-3) to patiently instructing four 70/80 year olds on how to hold their aforementioned 4 year old Tasmanian Devil grandson last year, Michelle is a magician/artist...I always leave the photoshoot stressed from the chaos Hurricane Daniel (our son) leaves in his wake....But every year we come back to look at the proofs and are amazed at Michelle ability to capture "lighting in a bottle" . This year was no different. Fortunately we survived the terrible 2's (...3's....4's....) and thanks to time, maturity, and the opposite of gentle parenting, our little Daniel, though far from perfect, is manageable. But we didn't want to make it too easy for Michelle, so we threw in another variable. After a recent canine cancer scare, and recently learning from Google that all dogs, however loyal and cute, unfortunately have an inescapable life, span, I somehow convinced my beautiful but camera shy wife that this is the year we do a family photo with our dog. Some more backstory, if you read this far, our Yorkie, Libby, loves us but HATES the rest of the world. She spent the entire hour photoshoot in perpetual scowl and Volume 11 non stop bark. One week later as she always does, lighting in a bottle perfection. I looked at the proofs with amazement. Our son, we expected....she's done it every year, but how she made a loud perpetual yapping bark into a impossibly cute smile is above my skill set. But I think her greatest feat is how she lessened the "he must be rich" looks gap between my wife and I. My wife is easy, even me with my amateur Android skills, it's hard for her to take a bad picture. Michelle mastery came with how she elevated me to "he must be funny" looks gap level. So why the tear? We loved one of the pics so much we purchased a large framed canvas print to hang on our living room wall. My 85 year old happened to be in town for his grandsons 5th bday so I asked him for an helping hand hanging the picture. I figured he has these family portrait hanging at my childhood home. My brother and I with our full head of hair and my mom shoulder pads captured the 90's to a tee...but what I always remember is the "proud" look my dad had on his face. A look of accomplishment shouting "look at me world and all that I love and created". Watching my aging dad struggle, listing to my aging dog bark in a locked room to protect my dad's ankles, I was suddenly reminded that time, as much as you want to hit pause, always moves forward. It's a good idea to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, look at the snapshot/memories/moments and take it all in. After my dad handed me the leveler and I put away the hammer, and I looked up....and yeah....I had that "Dad" look
