Went this morning at 8:55am, they claim to open at 9am. Waited until 9:10am, no one inside or answering the phone, all lights off. This would've been my first time, disappointed with this first impression. I'm open to editing this review if I come back and get the great service everyone talks about. I really would like to check them out, and that's what initially drive me out to this business, instead of the 4 closer nail salons to my house. read more

My nails were a complete mess so I decided to drop in for a refill. As soon as I walked in, Nathan (the owner, I believe), shouted aggressively across the room at me to pick out my color. He ended up being the one to do my nails. I definitely softened him up with some conversations, but to be honest... the customer really shouldn't be responsible for doing that. On the phone, they quoted me about $30 for my refills. At the register, they up-charged me to $45 + tip because my nails were too grown out... Please, my nails were only 3 weeks out from my last refill! Also, I literally asked for something sooo simple and it took them almost 1.5 hours. I left the store stunned. Within a few days, at least 3-4 of my nails were chipping. Mind you, I work a desk job and I'm not doing any heavy lifting. All in all, don't recommend coming here. If you're a student like me who doesn't actually live in SB, please just get your nails done in your respective hometowns lol (the Bay, LA/OC). They will likely be kinder, do a much better job (and probably throw in a few jewels or designs) for like half the price. read more

My hometown is from Orange County/LA so you KNOW I know my nails. I definitely can spot a good set and Nathan's Nails and Spa can do just that! The edges are really clean and Nathan is meticulous in the shape. He'll also happily fix to your desired wants. His other worker is also super sweet. Great customer service from the two! The ends of my gel nails are done so badly and are not even smooth. Looks so bad after it grew out for a week :( Theyre also lifting off and it's really annoying! I don't think my cuticles were even removed! The man did my nails and the lady did my friends. Their nails are so well done. Very disappointing after paying so much! read more

I've been coming here for years and can't believe I've never wrote a review! Nathan is the best! My dip manicures last 3+ weeks and only need to get them done because my nails have grown out so much. Qui does the most amazing pedicures. I have chronic ingrown toes nails and she carefully gets them cleaned up and looking fresh every time. I've been coming here for 2 years now on the recommendation of a friend. When I first started, it was wonderful, Nathan did a great job on dip polishes and Qui is excellent on pedicures. I've just been noticing the quality dropping significantly. Customer service has never been their strong point, silence during services is not uncommon, or on personal phone calls. I've seen and heard Nathan be short (rude) to people while I have been getting my nails done. Although I make appointments, I still find myself feeling like I am being squeezed in to fill time in between other people getting their nails done too. read more

Alright so I deviated from my typical nail salon of 3yrs due to some recent bad experiences . I heard of Nathan's nails and suggested my mom try it out when she was in town. Her nails came out great! So I got dip powder acrylics mani and gel pedi. I definitely was there for a decent amount of time due to the fact there's only two employees however I always block out time for nails so this didn't concern me. May concern others tho. I personally loved it because it was so quiet and relaxing. They also had my feet in hot water while I waited and they routinely made sure it stayed warm! They obviously work very hard and my nails came out lovely. Will go back! It was my first time doing nails ever in my life. I came here because some friends recommended me to Nathan's. It was a good experience and I got a pedicure and acrylics with gel polish. Total was $65 before tips. After a day I noticed I had some gaps in between my cuticles and they were nice enough to fix it for me after a few days because I had work and was busy. I absolutely love my nails. First time going to nathans, they did hurt me a little but I love how they did my acrylic set thin and they put the right amount of coats. I had gone to this one place in LA right before and they made my nails thick and you could tell it needed another coat but the lady didn't want to use another coat saying 'i was fine'. Thankfully I was in and out of there in an hour. Definitely recommend them ! read more

I've been coming to Nathan since I moved to Santa Barbara in 2016. I've had gel manicures, and now recently tried acrylics on my natural nails. I've been to a few other nail salons in the Goleta area but they are usually priced about $5 higher for each service. Nathan does a phenomenal job and pays attention to detail. My manicures last far beyond the recommended 2-3 weeks. I usually can be seen in a reasonable time without making an appointment which I appreciate. read more

Disappointed. I really wanted to like this place after reading so many positive reviews. The dip manicure is just an application, not a manicure. They did not clean, trim, or shape my nails. They did not even apply lotion. They also used an electric nail file to thin the top of the nail and remove the cuticles, which was very painful. I checked several times to see if I was bleeding. The nails are different lengths, and some have sharp edges and others are rounder. Not what I expected for a $51 service. read more

I don't understand why this place has good reviews! This place is awful! And Nathan does not know how to treat his clients with respect. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he shouted "no no no pick a color" . I panicked and decided to get with a French tip. I showed him a picture of how thin I wanted it and he did the opposite. Picture shows how crooked one came out. Don't go here ! read more

I just stopped in to visit Qui for a manicure and an eyebrow wax. She was really sweet and did a wonderful job on both of my services. I was hoping for a bit more of a Spa like service but, she didn't have enough time to squeeze me in for that. My wax was a great service, and really quick. I loved this place! I came 10 minutes before closing and Nathan was still happy to help me with a full set. He was nice and funny, and my nails turned out amazing. **Update: 3/12** I went back today to get my manicure fixed and it turned out amazing! Qui made sure I liked my manicure every step of the way. She was very nice and made sure to take care of my concerns. Nathan's will definitely be my go to nail spot :) Original Review: 3/11 My first time here was amazing. The gel manicure was beautiful and it lasted a long time. I went yesterday to get a mani-pedi and it was not the same experience. My pedicure was beautiful and well done but...the gel manicure was horrible. One of my hands looks better than the other. The gel manicure could have used a few more coats to make the color really pop. The nail technician was great but he was definitely rushing since they had a bit of wait. read more

My go to nail salon Nathan does an incredible job and is super precise. He files the acrylic multiple times and makes sure to get under! (I hate when people leave chunks under the nail) He is helpful on deciding what colors/designs if you want suggestions. I love this nail salon!! Wow! Just wow! I kid you not, I've never had anything done to my nails last more than two weeks. Regular polish, Gel, dip, and acrylics never lasted but I have had this set for exactly a month today. They are strong well done and besides the growth still look shiny and great. I went in two weeks before having my baby and Nathan and his wife were great. Friendly and obviously very attentive to a job well done. I didn't picture my toes but they are just as amazing. No chips and still very shiny. I love Nathan's Nails! This has been my go to nail salon for almost the past two years (I started coming here in 2017). My roommate and I usually go once a month to get gel manicures-- and more recently pedicures too. The whole staff does an awesome job but our favorites are definitely Nathan and his wife. They pay such close attention to detail and make sure that your are getting the result you desire! So long as I stay in Santa Barbara, Nathan's nails will most likely be the only place I get my nails done. read more

I asked for an acrylic set for my toes and a pedicure, a service I routinely enjoy and am fully aware of the cost for. Upon arrival, I was met with rudeness and questioned about my choice of service, with the nail technician repeatedly asking if I was "sure" because it was "a lot of money." This was incredibly off-putting and made me feel judged, as if they assumed I couldn't afford a service I genuinely enjoy and habitually get. It wasn't until I was on the phone with my boyfriend, expressing my frustration about being treated as though I couldn't pay, that their attitude subtly shifted. The pedicure felt rushed, and despite my interest in adding on premium services, none were offered. I wanted to treat myself to more, but the initial unwelcoming vibe and the speed of the service made me feel like an inconvenience. While I can genuinely say the actual nail work was well done, the overall experience was severely overshadowed by the poor customer service and unprofessional treatment. It's a shame, because I would have been a returning client and would have gladly spent more on additional services if I had felt welcomed and respected. Given the unfortunate political affiliations displayed in the salon, combined with the poor treatment, I definitely will not be returning. There are plenty of other salons where customers are treated with dignity regardless of their chosen services or perceived spending limit.
