I've been here twice now and both times the customer service was very poor. I made an appointment today to remove some gel polish and when I walked in, the employee was on a personal phone call and seemed bothered that I came in. She remained on the call for about 10 minutes and started to help me, but once her manager walked in, she got off the phone. After the appointment she asked about a tip for her. I have been to the salon many times and sadly two of the three last times I went, they cut my toenails so short that they both got infected. The last time was so painful I could barely walk for several days and it was after I asked the technician not to cut so deeply. When I started thinking about their hygiene there. I remember that I have not seen them thoroughly sanitize products, and I don't know if they thoroughly sanitize the bowls your feet go in. Sadly, because of this experience, I won't be able to return as it's not worth getting an infection. read more

Finally found a nail spot close to where I live! I got a pedicure and a nail fill with gel polish. Hands down the best pedicure of my life. I feel so bad that I can't remember the woman's name... I was looking for hair conditioner at a beauty store next door to Alice's (which was closed on Mondays) and instead I found Alice and Loy. Loy was there 10 til 6pm on this Monday evening and I walked in just to see if he would squeeze me in. He was totally open to taking me in as his last appointment. I got gel nails on my hands and feet. Alice did an excellent job and she chose the color for me which I really liked. I usually keep my nails short and black, but Alice insisted on introducing me to a new color that just came out. It was a cool gray color. I liked it. It wasnt too far from black yet it was a good substitute for black. Their gels run $45 and $65 for toe nails. It is a bit steep, but they're walking distance from The Biltmore Four Seasons. So the location was perfect and Alice is really skilled. When I come back to SB in January, I'll be back to get my nails done by Alice. read more

I wish that I could give this place no stars because that's what it deserves. My husband and I are in town from LA for a nice, relaxing weekend and I DID NOT appreciate their extremely rude service. I had to sit waiting for 20 minutes before they even began my mani/pedi because they were under staffed. The owner, Alice, rushed through my mani/pedi leaving calluses and hang nails. She then left and handed me over to someone else so they could finish the service. My husband was told they didn't have time to give a massage which is included in the service. We've been to some of the finest salons in LA and NEVER before have we felt so rushed and like they didn't want our money. There was a stark contrast between the way they treated us, two African Americans, and their other Caucasian clientele. I did not appreciate the disrespectful way they treated us. To top it off the services weren't cheap, spending over $150, I deserve a much better level of service, not to be discriminated against because I'm African American. BEWARE this salon, especially if you're a minority. You'll spend a lot of money for subpar service. NEVER again will I give them another dime. read more

My girlfriend just had her nails destroyed here and it only costed $60, but wait we got a $10 discount due to the fact she was crying from them improperly removing her gel nails, they thought just grinding them down would work. Sure it might make your nails ultra thin and cut you a bit but thats fine. When we talked to the owner i was told it was "fair".hmmmmm fair to who??? anyways could go on for days about this hole but i would suggest going elsewhere. Excellent gel manicures, beautiful meticulous pedicures, nice massage chairs, fabulous foot massages, and while you can get right in without an appointment most days, I recommend calling in advance and making one. Update from the last time I went - probably a year ago? Full disclosure - I'm not sure if they have changed how they handle the paraffin wax since then, but when I went and got paraffin, they used the same container of melted paraffin to dip each person's feet. I asked for paraffin and so did my sister, and they trudged out with a big bucket and dipped my feet in it and then immediately hers. I was so startled and appalled at how unsanitary that was. Why not scoop a little into individual bags, like virtually any other nail salon?! My previous review of five stars (I didn't get paraffin the first time I went) is now one star because of how unsanitary it was. Well, It was my first time going to this place and I can't say I'll be going back. The gal I had was nice, but, over $100 later, I left with crooked acrylics... it took about an hour and a half to do, and all in all, I can't say I'm happy with the turn out. For spending that much money to get acrylics (when I could go somewhere else in town and spend $40) I would not recommend coming here. Every other nail is crooked and pointing inward. I live nearby and wanted to find a great place for mani/pedi but this is not the place. the first time i visited i got the mani pedi combo. the pedi was ok- typical fare for these type of places, the mani was terrible. they cut at least 3 of my fingers while removing the cuticle. i don't use polish on my hands, i prefer just a clean natural look. slipshod shaping, quick cuticle clean up and very quick buffing. I decided to give them another chance thinking i may have visited on an off day, but it was the exact same, they even cut my fingers again while cleaning cuticles. I did not tip on the manicure part of the service and it was quite obvious the girl was angry and i was being cursed out in a foreign language until i left the shop. i won't be back !! read more

The day before my cousin's wedding we stopped in this salon. It appears to be a regular salon, like one in most strip malls. She needed a pedicure and gel manicure. Her fiancé needed a basic manicure and pedicure (without polish). They did a great job on the manicures, but it wasn't fancy. For example they were not offered drinks (not even bottled water), there were no hot mittens, no drying table, no paraffin wax, and no separate wax room (eyebrow/lip waxing is done in a pedicure chair out in the open in front of everyone). So imagine our surprise when the bill totaled $168! My cousin and I went to browse a store nearby while my cousin's fiancé finished his pedicure and paid. When he told us how much everything cost we were very surprised because we assumed that the pricing was similar to other places that we have been. There is no price list posted. I thought that perhaps my cousin's fiancé had been taken advantage of because he is a foreigner so I went back to the salon and asked another patron how much she paid. She paid $96 for a manicure and pedicure. I told her that I was surprised at that price and she replied, "This is Santa Barbara, honey!" So out of towners beware! Prices are a lot higher than what you would pay at home. I'm glad that I got my manicure in Kentucky before this trip! read more
