I walked in and it was really empty. I wondered why. However I still gave it a try. I got helped right away, the service I wanted was a regular pedicure and I wanted to remove my builder gel, and I had regular gel on my toes. I was told that to remove both, builder gel and my gel pedicure, would be an additional $15 dollars for EACH. I appreciate that I was told upfront because I ended up just getting my pedicure with no polish. I was helped by what seemed to be one of the owners. He was very friendly and professional. He was conversating with me which I find a very welcoming because in the past I haven't came across someone who was willing to conversate whole getting a service done. I gace it one star because of the following, an extra 15 for BOTH gel removals is absurd. I don't know why they "couldn't remove" builder gel. I have gotten it removed multiplied times and this wasn't a new service I was asking for at a nail salon. He also cut my toe nails in a rounded shape, everyone knows that they need to be cut in a straight line. Also, the lady who was also here, turned away a couple of potential customers, mind you I don't know why. After declining them to give them a service she walked to her phone and just sat down. I walked in and was going to give this place a try (it's right next to modern nails where I normally go) and there were shelves near the entrance with all the polishes. I started sifting through the gel polishes and one of the technicians shouted at me not to touch the polishes. They then proceeded to laugh along with the customers getting pedicures and said "we need to put a sign up." I walked out. For some reason everywhere else in Santa Barbara basically acts like acrylic nails are a sin when they are actually a savior. Like why would I pay to continue to have short nails? I wouldn't! This place is so nice, clean, and luxurious and they really take their time to ensure that your nails come out perfect! Also they have this amazing sugar scrub during the pedicure and one of the best foot massages I've received during a pedicure! Ridiculous non-service!!! Twice in a couple of months I popped in and asked for a pedicure. One customer and about 6 employees in the place and they said they were all booked up? I probably won't go back for a pedicure even though the lady that did my nails was very nice. She was welcoming and friendly. The chair I sat in had a space missing in the middle, and the massage component was one of those massage pad things that go over the chair-and it was so rough on my back I asked them to take it off... then I was stuck with the middle pad of my chair missing. The tools didn't come out of a sterile package, so I have no idea how clean they were. Lastly, my polish was put on very sparsely, and I'm not sure there was a top coat. I cannot recommend Magic Nails highly enough! Just got my gel nails removed and then a new set put back on . The owner did them and really took his time to keep my nails as healthy as possible - he didn't grind down the old gel in order to speed up the process. It was clean & the owners were very friendly. If you're looking for the newest and latest and greatest chairs & equipment, you won't get that here but it's a calm & friendly environment. Today I stopped in to get a manicure and pedicure. The place was practically empty and the place next door was very busy and now I know why. I was in a hurry and they were available to help right away. A family business . Husband , wife and daughter were in there were working together. Very unfriendly people. The daughter who did my manicure didn't even say hello or hardly one peep the whole time. The French manicure was terrible. It looked very fake and totally unnatural. The pedicure was fine but the woman was so rude when she gave a disgusted look at the bottom of my feet when she saw I had some callouses. Not necessary to give a look like that! It was absolutely boiling in there because it was hot outside. I was breaking out in a sweat. I guess they are too cheap to turn on the AC but did eventually after they saw me suffering. The way the lady asked for the tip was very rude and assuming. Very expensive for what it was. After it was over I went to my car and looked at my nails. I just couldn't drive off with those tacky things. So went back inside . The man was quite rude when I asked for them to re do again another time. They actually blamed me for not asking for the correct polish?? On a French manicure?? I asked them to just remove the polish and I would come back when I had more time. She insisted that I sit down and she would redo it then as she didn't have time the next day?! I was already late and so just had her put regular polish on instead. I'm not one to complain or ever write negative reviews. But this one deserves it. Stay away from 'Magic Nails' because they are certainly far from it! read more

I went in for a polish change... And the woman I got was so RUDE! She kept saying, "Relax you toes"... Sorry lady, that's just how my toes are! My paint job was awful! My 5 year old niece could have done a better job! And when I asked her to fix it, she said, "that's just your dead skin". Ummm, last time I checked, my skin isn't hot pink magenta!!! Worst manicure ever. Stay away. I usually travel with my own nail products but didn't have them with me on this day. The base coat the manicurist used was so thick she could barely get the polish to look smooth over it. Same with the top coat. My nails were raised at the tips because everything was on so thick. When I mentioned this she said it was because she put on two coats. My nails never dried and I spent that evening removing everything. Please do yourself a favor and go to Aqua Nails for an excellent manicure or pedicure. Came here before for a pedicure, it was whatever. Went to modern nails today two doors down but they were busy and I was in a hurry so I went to magic nails. Needed my gels taken off and a new manicure. They charged me $15 just to take the gels off and then $20 for an alright manicure. Don't normally come here but wouldn't come back. The lady also kept scraping my cuticles while taking the gels off and then was shoving my cuticles down to the point where I had to tell her to stop. Ask my manicure had bumps in it and the color did not come out the way it looked in the bottle. read more
