I am a huge fan of this place but after my second not great experience I have to take them down a couple stars. Ordered to go and got the quesadilla cali burger. My avocado was brown which was kind of gross and the toppings I asked for weren't on the burger. They've changed the fry recipe from the OTR location which were my favorite menu item. I don't think they're fresh cut anymore and if they are, something is lacking. Sad that this staple is now questionable. read more

Just stopped in for brunch and our meal was delicious. I decided to order biscuits and gravy. It has been a while since I've eaten any variety of this dish. I'm glad I decided to try it. Great place for burgers. We came for a late lunch and my kiddo was greeted with crayons and a piece of paper to color on. We ordered the Nations burger + fries + lager for $19.99 (great deal), kids corn dogs and fries, and Piggie Smalls (double cheese burger). Great service, great food. We asked about if food was safe for an egg allergy, and the staff and manager came over to explain that though they cleaned the grill from brunch well and the burgers are usually cooked on a different part of the grill, there could be potential cross contamination -- which I appreciated so much (that allowed me to decide not to feed my baby any of the food in the restaurant). But the rest of us enjoyed the food. When we're back in town, we're definitely coming back!!! Great place to hang and great food! read more

My beautiful and wise wife joined me at Nation Westwood on Saturday evening. Love the decor and vibes of the place. The bar is super nice, lots of TV's. Clean. Bathroom was clean. It was a good size crowd. Service was good. We sat at the bar. Lots of good beer choices on tap. Cheese curds arrived quickly. Ranch is very good. The Phoenix was a bomb chicken sandwich. We hit up Nation Westwood for Saturday brunch. I was really impressed with the set up of this place. Situated in an old CFD firehouse Nations did a great job turning it into a restaurant while keeping the old buildings charm. We came for the brunch, but instead got burgers and wings. As I get wings everywhere they are served, Nations wings were good. Not the best, but good. I paired it with a freshly tapped draft beer on a Saturday morning which isn't something I do often, but what the hell I wanted to try their brews. The burgers were great and salads were delicious. We went last week on a Wednesday for lunch, both mother and I purchased the burger and side salad. The burger was flatter than a pancake absolutely no substance to it and lettuce in the salad was brown and soggy. (the fruit on top of it was fresh). When we told our server about the lettuce she said all of the lettuce is brown. Also, my daughter ordered the Nation which was 17.00 and was supposed to have double patties they gave her one flat patty. The burgers, the fries and the tater tots are great! We've been here twice, but not on a day when the garage door could be opened. I look forward to either eating outside (there is a nice area out front) or sit inside with the outside breezes flowing through. Our first visit was a while back, so I'm not completely sure what we ordered. We were there just this week, but I didn't take pics of the food. This last visit I had the Nation Burger. All the tastes - the bbq sauce, the onion straws, the horseradish aioli - combined perfectly. It was a great bite and a delicious burger. We also got loaded tater tots, which was awesome! I could SO make a meal of those tots! On our first trip here in July we had a Red & Bleu and a Spicy Black Bean with fries. Both delicious. I missed the hatchet on my bun on this last trip. This review is mainly for the dining staff because the food is quite tasty, so props to the kitchen. This location certainly falters when it comes to you getting any attention when you walk through the door. We have hardly every received a "hello/welcome in/someone will be with you in a minute". We have often seen staff who could help just hanging about without any care of who's waiting on service. We have went in for a pick up order to not be directed to where we could pick up when finally we decided to ask. Continuing my search for a good bean burger. I found this place. The bean burger was ok, just ok. It needed more seasoning as in onions/onion powder and garlic/garlic powder. Although I added toppings, it was still underwhelming. For the price of the burger, a side should be included. I did order a side of sweet potato tots and I didn't like the flavor. Nation was for a while, one of mine and my partner's favorite places to get a burger in Westwood. We quickly became regulars and came here almost every week. Unfortunately over the past year, Nation has severely lost the plot. They went from fantastic smash burgers to obviously frozen patties and their once excellent drinks becoming sugary syrup rail liquor... It's been one big disappointment after another. We use to love coming here to eat delicious burgers and tots and now we have consistently left disappointed. Whoever is calling the shots at Nation is doing a serious disservice to what was once one of our favorite restaurants. Whoever was in charge before... Please for the love of god come back and fix it! Visited Nation in Westwood for the first time last night and will most definitely be back! Located in an old firehouse that has been converted to a restaurant with ample seating inside & outside during nice weather. Full bar with lots of craft beer choices on tap, great happy hour prices for craft beer as well as a few mixed drinks ($5 margaritas). Service was great, attentive but not overbearing. Ordered fried pickle chips as an appetizer and they were great- not soggy and the ranch dipping sauce did not detract from the pickle flavor. The burger was fantastic! Nation Kitchen & Bar has operated in Pendleton since 2015, and their newest spot in Westwood opened in late 2020. The Pendleton location isn't especially kid-friendly, so it is not on our list of regular spots. However, if the Westwood location was closer to our home, it would most likely be in our rotation of lunch/dinner spots. It's brighter, lively, and offers a kids menu. My family and I arrived shortly after 11 on a Saturday and were immediately seated at a high-top table. The restaurant is not huge, but they do make good use of the space that they do have. Also looks like a patio would be in use with better weather. The space was formerly the Engine Co. Number 35 firehouse and a number of artifacts from that time can still be found inside and out. Brunch is offered early on Saturday and Sunday, but they also serve the full menu during that time, which I was delighted about. I ordered the phoenix sandwich with a fried buttermilk chicken breast, Nashville hot sauce, spicy jalapeno slaw, chipotle mayo, and pickles on a challah bun ($12). This was a very good sandwich, spicy but not over the top. I especially liked the slaw. I also enjoyed a side of tater tots ($3). My wife and kids enjoyed the burgers. Love the story behind this place! The name sake is a crazy lady, Carrie Nation, that smashed up bars across the country, but stopped in Cincinnati after realizing the amount of bars would be a lot of work smashing. Everyone is invited here, except Carrie! And this lovely pub's story continues as they keep giving back to the community with their monthly BIT burgers for a cause. Was underwhelmed with food today. Quesadilla burger didn't have much flavor. The cheese curds were very good but you need to eat them when they're hot. I did order a side salad and it was basically made up of bad cuts of lettuce that was hidden by cranberries and feta cheese. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito bowl and she seemed to enjoy that. We also had two kids menu orders of chicken tenders and mini corn dogs and the kids ate that. Monday nights can be tough to find a good place to eat on the West Side (slowest night in the restaurant biz). Good thing Nation has a fabulous patio and full menu ready to roll. I stopped in with my son a week ago for a quick dinner out. The weather was gorgeous and the patio was a perfect, relaxed setting. He ordered the Phoenix (a spicy chicken sandwich that is not just spicy - but straight up fire). He said he really enjoyed the first half, but by the second half his face as on fire and while he enjoyed it, he could not feel his mouth. Hahahah. My daughter and I had brunch/lunch here today and were underwhelmed by the food. The atmosphere is nice and the service was pretty good. But the food was just ok. My daughter ordered the Brunchwrap Supreme. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito. We also ordered the Breakfast Tots to share because they sounded amazing and we both wanted to try them. The food came out fairly quickly and we dug into the Breakfast Tots right away. We both thought they were pretty good! Although, the cheese had started to congeal - because the tots were barely warm, not hot. Then I started to eat my burrito only to find that the eggs inside were cold. So was the chorizo. In fact the whole burrito was barely warm. I hate cold eggs. But I ate most of it anyway because we were starving and were out for the day. Fresh, interesting recepies; and a constant turn-over of new dishes. you're not going to get your standard fare of cheeseburher, bacon burger, and black n' bleau here: expect exotic aiolis, interesting toppings, and savory sauces. It's a little pricey, sure, but each burger is a meal in of its own. My only qualm is that they used to include a mint with every dish, and I wish they'd bring that back. We have visited nation for takeout 3 times in the past and had great experiences. Food was fresh and tasted good. Really like the nation burger and tots. As for appetizers we loved the large wings and the cheese curds. The last visit was on this past Saturday, walked in with no wait and were seated on the patio. The waitress walked to our table 10 minutes later to only get our drink order and we were ready to order food and appetizers but she asked us to wait to order food. She brought our drinks 10 minutes later, didn't say anything and walked off. She returned another 10 minutes later and took our food order and apologized for the wait... at this point we ordered food (decided not to do appetizers) and she didn't come back until food was delivered 20 minutes later to see if we needed anything. Glasses were all empty and we of course asked for refills.. service was a bit off this time. Tried to visit again Friday, the hostess told us the wait for 3 ppl was 40 minutes, no big deal so we gave her our number and waited off to the side by an empty high top. She apparently told a manager and she walked over very nicely and told us we had to wait outside even though it was 15 degrees and we had a toddler. I ordered the Red & Bleu Burger and Queen City Tots. The chili on the tots is perfect. Definitely a fan. The burger was delicious too. As an appetizer we ordered the Dip Trio to try all the sauces which I also highly recommend. Great service, delicious food and great location. Parking can be tricky but if it's a nice evening (as was when we went) we parked down the neighborhood and took a little walk. Definitely worth going.
