Initial service wasn't bad, though a little slow. 10 months later, they sent me a bill, effectively more than doubling my out of pocket expense. Called the support team who did nothing more than explain that insurance didn't cover all of the cost. I bought my first ever glasses from this store almost a year ago. The girl who helped was horrible. Not helpful at all, even though I told her several times I had never worn glasses before. Thankfully I had brought someone with me who worked as a technician in an eyeglass store for years and helped me with all my decisions. The sales associate told me my insurance policy for my glasses was good for a year. I called the store today to activate that policy as my glasses got scratched and need to be replaced. I was told the prescription expired a week or so ago and they couldn't replace my glasses! I said, I was NEVER told that it was only good until the prescription expired because I would've remembered that especially since my eye doctor didn't want to see me for 2 years from the date of my prescription... I was told I had a year to replace my glasses.... From the date of purchase!!! Not from the date the prescription was written. Now they don't want to honor the warranty. Horrible business practices. I was very clear with all of my questions being that it was my first time purchase $$$ of glasses. read more

The 1st pair of glasses I got from them, both lenses fell out after 1 year so SSDI who insures me sent me back there once again. Business operates just fine, although the prescription that was generated by exam was off. The glasses ordered with prescription were still a little blurry. This is my comment about the Tucson branch at 4386 N Oracle Rd. I had an eye exam appointment and arrived five minutes late. I was told by the receptionist that my spot got bumped and now there are two people in front of me and I have to wait an hour to be seen. If you make an appointment at Nationwide, how can there be TWO people ahead? Moreover, as a new patient, one typically needs to spend 5-10 minutes filling out paperwork--and this I already had in hand when I walked in. Suffice to say, this experience with Nationwide was extremely frustrating and unpleasant, not to mention the lackluster and apathetic mannerism being displayed by the receptionist. This is NOT how you treat a new customer. Oh... I went to Alvernon Optical instead. Their yelp and google ratings are superb. read more

Then the snotty Cecelia proceeded to tell me contacts are a privilege and not a right, before she even looked at my eyes. I'm switching vision centers after today. I'm still waiting on a basic pair of glasses that were supposed to be in last week. Every time I've called to ask them, I've been given attitude over the fact that I'm calling about them. I just got off the phone with them for the 3rd time in the past week check on the status of my new frames/lenses. Needless to say, I was upset over my glasses not being in, after being told they'd be in last week. After asking "it's been almost 3 weeks, when will they be in?" I was told given a snotty "well we'll just call you." I had been a customer here for 6 years prior to this, and dropped a good amount of money on exams, lenses and frames over that time. Judging by these reviews, I'm not the only one having poor experiences here. read more

If it weren't for my insurance coverage, I would probably no longer use Nationwide Vision.  While my experience with them up in Maricopa County was fine (attentive, quick, responsive, etc.) my experience with the Oracle Road location here in Tucson has been miserable.   First off -- while it's no one's fault really -- my first appointment was May 14.  I walked to the center (about 2 miles) only to be told that their system had been down all week, they hadn't been able to even phone or retrieve messages, and so my appointment had been cancelled, only they had no way to inform me of it.  However, since I had all the forms and patient information filled out, I left it with the the only person in the store, hoping to save time when I came back. So I rescheduled for June 4.  I received a confirmation reminder voicemail on June 3 advising me to be there at 8:30 the following morning, since I was the first scheduled appointment.  I got there right on time; however, the person who opened the store arrived around 8:45 and asked me to wait outside until she got everything ready.  I finally got in at 9:00.  And all of the paperwork I'd left on May 14th was nowhere to be found.  I did a very abbreviated set of forms -- and waited.  And waited...and waited.  While the doctor was "in" he seemed to just roam around.  After about a half hour or so I was finally taken back for the preliminary "exam".  You know the one before the doctor finally sees you.  When that was done, I waited...and waited again.   When the doctor finally saw me, he seemed to be in a hurry.  In the past visits up in Maricopa County, the doctor sat and talked to me, about all sorts of conditions that us older folks (I'm 72) should be aware of, and things like dry eye, etc.  This one was more the "Slam, bam...thank you ma'am (or sir)" variety. Of course, I had to wait some more for anyone to help me.  There were three people on staff to begin with, and one pretty much took a powder so the staff was down to 2.  I needed to order new glasses, and pretty much picked out the three frames (for clear bifocals, transition lens bifocals, sunglasses) pretty quickly.  And waited and waited some more.  Finally, the young man on staff helped me.  Took his time discussing the costs, etc., after insurance.  Which I appreciated.  Finally, we finalized the sale, I paid, and he apologized for the delay ("we're understaffed"), and said my glasses would be ready within two weeks. Well here it is, June 21 and here's the situation with my glasses.  I did get a call on June 14 advising me that ONE pair of my glasses had arrived.  But no word on the other two pair.  I waited until Wednesday, the 16th, and called to see if there was any word on the other 2 pair.  They checked, and yes indeedy.  A second pair had come in (the clear lens bifocals) -- unfortunately no one bothered to phone me to let me know.  Since I had lots of deliveries scheduled from UPS, etc. the following week, about the only day I could pick up the two pair -- with the hopes that the final pair -- the sunglasses -- might show up overnight, I walked to the center on the morning of June 17.  Had to wait a while (of course -- there were only two on staff that a.m. and both had their noses on the computer for about 20 minutes before either could help me.)   While I was being fitted, I told them that I couldn't possibly walk there again to get the sunglasses -- if an when they showed up.  Told them they would have to mail them to me.  They assured me it would be no problem; they would send them via UPS and advise me when they did, and provide me with the tracking number.  I told them I hoped to hear from them in the next day or so, to at least update me on the status of my sunglasse.   So Saturday morning rolled around.  I hadn't heard anything.  So I called bright and early and left a message for them:  it was IMPERATIVE I hear from someone that day regarding the status of the last pair of glasses, or I would have to go over someone's head, trying to shake some information out of them or to get a refund on the final pair of glasses.  I waited most of morning and early afternoon and heard NOTHING.  I was pissed and I called.  Whoever answered the phone said she "was trying to reach out to me" but for some reason my "phone wasn't working".  I said, well, the number she called (supposedly -- and I asked her to verify it) was the number I was calling from.  So either she misdialed or she was plain out lying to me.  She did say "supposedly" that the lab said my glasses had been shipped, and they should come in (today) June 21.  I said that I expected to hear from them no later than Tuesday, June 22 then with shipping and tracking information.  Of course, I had her verify that they had my correct address.  And, of course, I insisted she try to call me right after I ended the call, just to make sure my phone number was working!!  And she did, and it rang, and it was.   But I'm still waiting....and out of room read more

This review is for my purchase of prescription sunglasses. I do not have the best eyesight. I really wanted sunglasses, but could never find a pair that would actually fit prescriptions and did not look like 1971 called. They were actually really helpful here and had some pretty cool frames. I ended up picking a pair of Fendi's. They explained my lens options pretty well and pricing as well. Their prices were significantly lower than a lot of the more popular places in Tucson. They are not as cheap as Costco but Costco does not have that great of a variety. They had to ship me my glasses which took ten days longer than promised. Great customer service, but slow delivery time. Still, would recommend over the other places in Tucson, which is not saying much by itself. read more

This was a great experience for my 13 year old son who now needs glasses. They were thurough and explained everything to him. (Unlike what others have rated) His appointment was right on time and they seen him on a Saturday which I love because it didn't interfer with his school. They never tried to upsell more expensive frames or extra items eventhough there was a large selection to chose from. I like to be a thrifty shopper and not pressured. This place is the worse service I've experienced! ZERO STARS!!!!!!! The desk receptionist brought the place to be shit service! She had us waiting outside for 20mins even though she told us to be there 10mins earlier prior Set Appt. Had us waiting for more than 2hrs when we all had set time appts. While waiting I noticed she took on 2-3 people that arrived after us! Which pushed our time further back. Smh I'm so dissatisfied with the service we been given. I do not recommend to go to this place, nothing against the business, just this location on Wetmore and Oracle is the absolute worse!!! Also I was told to not order contacts because it was going to be difficult for them to make the special type of contacts prescription I needed and advised me to only get glasses what place tells you that? I made an appointment to have a recommended eye exam by my doctor. My appointment was at 4pm, I called to get in a bit earlier and they told me to arrive at 3:45 because someone had cancelled so I was bumped up. Of course I get there early so I arrive at 3:30. I browsed the eyeglasses and found two I liked. I filled out paperwork and waited some more. There were at least ten people in the waiting room looking like they'd been there for hours. It was now 4:30, no one in the waiting room had budged. They looked like they would set up camp so I asked how much longer that it would be. The receptionist said another one to two hours and I mentioned that since they close at 6pm would I really been seen? I'm willing to wait and be patient most of the time but this was after work on a weekday and I needed to get things done. She mentioned that it was always a long wait, everyday people wait this long at this store. So in the end, I left and made another appointment elsewhere. I took my grandfather to get his eye exam who is 76 years old. I talked to the people at the store 3 times hours before I took him into nationwide and not once did they say anything about bringing in the list of medication, witch is a long list and wouldn't even see him unless they had it. Like I said before he is 76 and can't walk to well and it's hard for him to breath. So getting him here was rough and scary. The people at the front desk where rude and are not helpful at all. I work in customer service and if your going to be that rude and not helpful at all you should really look into getting a different job. It's not everyone else fault you hate your life. read more

However the manager of this location was very short and very rude with myself and my grandmother. She was very unprofessional and refused an AARP discount. Wow, this is the most unprofessional place I have been too. Three front desk staff and a manager that does not know anything about customer service. I waited over an hour to get in to get my contacts checked and as I sat in the waiting area no one came up to keep me up on when I would be seen. They all made eye contact then looked away as I sat in the waiting room. Then when I told one of them my appointment was 50 minutes ago she kinda checked something then walked around ignoring me like she was pretending I was not waiting. The lady ahead of me complained to the ignorant manager that she was waiting an hour and a half. First she complained to the front desk girl who instead of apologizing and doing everything to help the customer got an attitude and argued why she was not helped? Do not go here!!!!! This was the worst eye care experience I have ever had. I walked in for a post PRK consult. I overheard the doc training the girl who saw me on what to do when she sees me. The girls than saw me, had no idea what to do, so kept stopping to go find the doc and asked questions. They didn't have proper records for me, so had no idea why I was there. The ten minute exam took an hour with all the mistakes. Then, I had to wait 5 minutes for the staff to get off their personal phone calls to schedule my 3 month out next appointment, only to discover they can't schedule that far in advance. read more

Absolutely AWFUL. I've been going to this location for many years because they are in a prime location for me and I believe there is still some value in longevity with a company. I also loved the previous eye doctor, Muller. However, my last few experiences the front desk customer service is beyond lacking. The front desk is simply rude and inefficient. It took me two weeks to get an appointment in because I work during their weekly hours. When I scheduled my appointment I gave the girl my insurance info so that I could find out how much my eye exam would cost. That was over 2 weeks prior to my actual appointment. They called and left me a message the day before my appointment at 5:30PM (they close at 6) to confirm my appointment and to tell me they needed my insurance information again because what they had was invalid. By the time I got out of work and checked my messages they were closed for the evening. I showed up for my appointment today which is on a Saturday and started filling out the usual paperwork when the lady told me that they left me a message yesterday to tell me they needed my insurance information. I gave her my card at that time and explained I gave her the information previously when I made the appointment. She said that there was nothing she could do since my insurance company is closed on the weekends and asked me to reschedule during the week. I told the lady I work during the week and that I would be out of town the next week prior. She just looked at me like "too bad". And I said, "well I guess I'll just cancel my appointment" and she simply said "ok". To me that is horrible customer service. The company had ample time to contact me prior to my appointment which was two weeks out and notify me of THEIR ERROR in insurance since I had already given it to them previously over the phone. Not to mention I wasted my time and gas driving over there while they seemed to not care about giving me any customer service from the moment I walked in the door. My visit last year was not much better. The front desk chatted amongst themselves and seemed to care none to nil about their customers. It always takes over an hour to be seen and although the eye doctor was nice the company failed to call me to tell me when my contacts had arrived. I finally waited until 2.5 weeks had passed to find out if they had my contacts and the girl who answered simply said, "yes they're in." I wonder if I hadn't called if anyone would have ever told me... Anyways, I called Lenscrafters up the street this same Saturday and the girl over the phone was very polite. She took my insurance over the phone and they will be seeing me tomorrow. No more nationwide for me. read more
