BIG MISTAKE/BIG WASTE OF TIME/BIG WASTE OF MONEY When I had the exam I was the only patient there, when I went to pick up my glasses I was the only patient there and the glasses were done very badly and when I went to take them back for correction the office was closed. The doctors and technicians here are great, I give them five stars. I have a problem with "American Vision Partners" computer automation. I keep getting "no reply" robotic email links saying I have a new message but cannot login because the Multi-Factor Authentication isn't connected to my email address or my cellphone. I've complained about this for 5 years or longer and found it impossible to get any help over the telephone or online, since I can't login. I have to physically get in my car and drive over to one of their offices and have someone at the counter help me but nobody can fix the login issue. It reaches a boiling point every year around this time because the IT service that controls the web site is completely out of the loop and unavailable for assistance. read more

I visited Dr Martin in Oro Valley AZ several times in the last few months for what could have been a serious condition. Thankfully Dr Martin assured me that my vision issues were of a temporary measure. He was very thorough and had me return a couple of times to insure my condition has not got worse. BUYER BEWARE: Even though the front desk is friendly, they took over one year to send the bill and (are you ready for this?) sent the bill to COLLECTIONS before they even notified me!!!! After speaking to many people and spending over 5 hours trying to understand why this happened, it turns out their "system" was making mailing mistakes in which the name and address were incorrectly printed. After over a year of these "system mistakes", the system decided to send me to COLLECTIONS! Does this sound right to you? It took another number of calls to figure out why they were billing me at all because I have two insurances. Since these Eye Centers are under a corporate organization (American Vision Partners in Phoenix - BOO!) apparently they do not communicate accurately with each other or with their patients. By the way, the doctor I saw was cold, rude and didn't give a flying banana about communication, let alone accuracy or compassion. Never received a written diagnosis as a cherry on top of the cake. For all these crummy services I was sent to COLLECTIONS. RUN AND GO ELSEWHERE!! You can do better than this. read more

Too commercial. Went for an appointment for glasses and contacts. Took about an hour and 15 minutes shuffling me from room to room. Then the Dr. (Dr. Martin) came. He didn't even give me the prescription of my contacts on that day and made me come back again to pick up the prescription. Didn't let me trial any contacts when I informed him that my eyes are getting dry with the current ones. Didn't even consider my complaints of dry eye. Just garbage. Never going back. read more

We are new to the area and wanted an office with an Optometrist and Ophthalmologist. We found the perfect office. All of the staff is so friendly and the check in process is so easy. I've had two urgent situations and Dr Martin worked me right in and started an RX. They're professional, efficient and answer all questions.

The eye exam was very thorough and everybody in the office was very pleasant. My problem is that they charged me $53 to get a copy of my prescription for glasses. When I called my insurance company they said that they had never heard of that. When I went to get glasses I checked and discovered that there are a few ophthalmologist in Tucson the charge you a fee to get a copy. I disagree with the policy. read more

My husband went to this Dr. because he accepted his insurance, all the staff was competent and efficient. He went in wearing a progressive prescription and was charged additional fee to obtain his new prescription. When we went to fill the script, found out Dr. had written a single vision script for reading only.. This is unusable due to fact he needs correction for near and far vision, we have contacted office and they refuse to respond. He now is out the additional fee charged and has a worthless prescription. He will not go back to this Dr. and cannot get his prescription updated without paying another Dr. full fees because he has used his insurance for the year. I wouldn't recommend this Dr. to anyone. read more

The optometrist and optical technician were skilled, however the office staff were not upfront about costs for exam services (about $270 for one visit). I wasn't given a receipt for the exam portion when I paid. They billed my child. Please come prepared to ask about all charges both at the time of visit and in the future. Request receipts for all transactions. I feel that this business can overcome these issues with both diligence of the patient as well as more training for front office and billing departments. The medical staff is not to blame. read more

don't go here! they give you inaccurate infor regarding costs...med exam is 1 cost.....want a prescription for glasses? or contacts? ....another exam and cost!....Their office is run like an assembly plant...one person does this another person does that....use to be the optometrist did ALL measuring and testing. I was referred to Barnet-Dulaney(BD) by United Healthcare(UH), my AARP Medicare provider. UH told me that it would only cost me $20 copay since BD was an in-network provider. Upon arrival on 9/14/18 the two office workers admitted that they were new but I would be charged $35 referral fee, not $20. I should have walked out then but was pressed for time to get an eye exam before going out of town. I figured UH would straighten it out. Then they gave me an iPad to do the paperwork; more paperwork than normal requiring multiple signatures with obscure questions like do you have bed bugs! This was my second opportunity to leave, thus my second mistake! Most of the eye exam was given to me by a young man (technician?) who never introduced himself. In my previous many eye exams, the optometrist would have given these tests of your vision. So after most of the work was done by this fellow, the optometrist came in to finish the exam. I left the office with only a credit card receipt for $35.00. Now BD sends me a bill: $45 for the eye exam plus $20 for copay. UH has already paid BD $128.20 so my exam costs will total $193.20 ($128.20+45.00+20.00). I should have gone to Target or Costco or one of the eye retail stores and paid only $50. So bottom line, UH/Medicare has paid BD $128.20 plus my $35 (subtotal $163.20) plus BD wants $30 more from me. I have called both BD and UH several times on this problem but it still isn't solved. BD may have filed this under medical instead of Spectara Vision, but I do not know for sure. This example is why Medicare costs taxpayers too much in my opinion. $193.20 for a $50 routine eye exam is ridiculous. My advice: ask how much it will cost before signing the numerous forms at BD. I will not make this mistake again. read more
