The best "finer" dining establishment in the area IMO. Some servers are very attentive and cordial while a few seem to rather not even be there. The menu offers a nice selection but I've only had the Jambalaya simply because it's amazing and I know I can't go wrong by ordering it. Pricey but totally worth it on occasion. I love this place! It's our go-to for special occasions. The food is superb, very fresh and seasoned to perfection. I've never had anything less than a delicious meal here, from steaks to pastas to salads, everything has been very good. Try the loaded baked potato egg rolls, AMAZING! Wow. Nat's on Maple offers spectacular menu options at rock bottom prices. I enjoyed a generous cup of beef veg soup and a duck confit on a toasted ciabatta, topped with Gouda and greens. All for about $15.00. Do yourself a favor and visit. read more

My wife and I love Nat's. I always wondered what "Comfort Food" was. Nat's serves meals that feel are "comfortable" Not complex. Just delicious. I have stopped in numerous times for the pulled pork sandwich. Comes with fresh fruit. Evening comes and we love the wine list. We often just get a bottle and take what we don't drink home with us. Had been there for work & had a nice experience, so my husband & I went back the next week for lunch. This was a lousy exerience! We ordered bowls of soup (clam chowder), but they brought us cups instead. Not a big deal, we didn't say anything & stuck with the cup. The taste was mediocre. When checking the bill we were charged for a cup, but it was $.25 higher than the menu stated. The hostess came to refill our water at one point & poured so fast, it splashed all over us & the table. She walked away without a word. They weren't very busy, so she could have taken a little more time to do it right. For the main course we split the pot roast. It was very tastey & they didn't charge for an extra plate, which was nice. The bad part here is that we said to our waiter that it would have been even better with some fresh bread & his response was that it was available upon request. I was shocked by this! I thought this was supposed to be an upscale place, but apparently not, if you have to ask for bread! I still can't believe it, what a joke! I don't plan to go back there! I also agree with other reviews about the garlic. I feel they use way to much & while it was pretty good at the time, it made me feel sick later. read more

My family went to Nats with my mother and her friend. The service was above average and the food was fantastic. We made reservations but because of an emergency at work we were late. We called and were told it would be no problem. We were seated right away. I couldn't finish my meal so I asked for a take out box which I left at the restaurant. I went back to asked our waitress (Keely) if my food was still in the kitchen. She returned to tell me it was thrown away but if I could wait the chef could make me a half portion! Nat's On Maple catered our wedding last weekend at Blumen Gardens. The food was the talk of the night! Everything was delicious - the appetizers (Swedish meatballs, crab stuffed mushrooms, and the goat cheese crostini) and the meal was to die for (pot roast, chicken madeira, green beans and the mashed potatoes). We had a family style dinner and all the food was brought out at one time and everything was served warm. Nat was also one of the best vendors we worked with for our wedding. She was very responsive to our emails and very helpful in suggesting other vendors for the event. She was always so kind and friendly! Great customer service! Thanks for everything Nat! The food was OK-good. The service was poor-unacceptable, especially considering the place was not busy. I arrived for a late lunch-early dinner and was the only one in the restaurant. Waited & waited & waited, listening to what turned out to be my server discussing his personal problems with other staff, before he even brought me water. When he took my order he said that he would be getting off in 5 minutes and another server would take over. She did, but the only thing she did was bring me my bill. I had heard that Nat's was a nice place to eat but saddly I never got the chance to try their food! We get there and the "hostess" suggests we order at the bar.......well I didn't get the hint. I said we'll wait for a table she says it'll be about 40 min wait .......wellllll an hour and a half later she says the people at our table a just finishing their desert while I had to use the rest room I saw a table empty I asked about it and was told it was already taken.......mmmmm it takes me awhile to get pissed off but when she said that ,I realized that we had been waiting for a table for two.......We got up and left I went to bed slightly intoxicated due to the hour and a half at the bar and hungry to boot! read more

This is one of my favorites places to eat in the downtown area. The service is good. There can be a fairly long wait on the weekends. They accept reservations for parties of 5 or more. You can also do call ahead. I've had the meatloaf sandwich, the pulled pork, and the buffalo burger. My friend loved their salmon and crab cakes. The atmosphere is nice too. We were told right of the bat that it would not be possible, despite my explaining that one of us had a medical condition which required more space to get in and out of their chair. There were three employees standing there and not one was willing to lift a finger to help us. Nat's on Maple catered our wedding and rehearsal dinner. We got the diamond package fillet mignon and salmon and shrimp for the wedding and the roast chicken for the rehearsal dinner. We also got chicken fingers and mac and cheese for the kids (the kids especially liked the mac and cheese). Everybody complimented the food. All of my in-laws got married in Houston and Dallas and our catering tasted better than their fancy restaurant food from the big city. Nat brought it all the way out to our farm and the temperature of the food was perfect. I live in Austin, Texas and we have AMAZING food here and the food we had catered from Nat's was definitely competitive. Nat was also extremely accommodating with food allergies and diet restrictions for individual meals amongst the entire guest list. Beyond the great food, Nat helped me arrange all of my rentals from chairs and fans, to giant tents, which was super convenient. I can't imagine a more convenient way to arrange a wedding than to have it all orchestrated by my caterer. Her staff and herself where super sweet at all times. Overall, I am super duper happy that we chose Nat's on Maples and will definitely use them again for future full-meal catering needs. read more

Stopped in here one afternoon after hearing how great it is... Asked for a table and the hostess replied, "We have no open tables." However, it was not busy and I could see not just one, but several open tables. Further, in the several minutes I was talking, not one other person came in to fill what I can only assume where "reserved" tables. I had friends dine there later that evening, so I asked if the place was full. "Nope, there were open tables." Apparently, this place doesn't need the business. This by far has to be the best restaurant for fine dining in the Dekalb and Sycamore area. They serve "trendy comfort food," but they might as well advertise it as THE BEST comfort food you've ever had. Let's just say I would never order meatloaf or pot roast in a restaurant, but these are my two favorite dishes at Nat's--after the fried pickles of course--however, don't let the comfort food items fool you into thinking this is a diner atmosphere. Nat's is a classy establishment with great martinis, an extensive wine list, and the best mesquite ribeye I've ever tasted. The dishes are not cheap, but I'd say they are reasonable and there is a good variety of prices and options. It's a small establishment, but I've never had to wait long. The staff is knowledgeable and prompt. In addition, they boast of using local meats and vegetables. I often jog next to the bison farm in Sycamore where Nat's purchases some of their meat. Those bison have a good life, and I feel good about eating them. read more

We have eaten here twice and we were favorably impressed both times. Nice elegant atmosphere (a tad too dimly lit) but not pretentious - still casual enough for jeans. First time we had two small plates and split the black and bleu salad (unlike the other reviewer- we didn't get push back when we asked to split the salad). The salad was decent sized and the steak was cooked perfectly and oh so tender. I wasn't wild about the salad dressing. I would ask for that on the side next time. The stuffed mushrooms were bursting with flavor. The platter with the mozzarella, basil, and prosciutto WAS OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS. Beautiful presentation. Tonight we enjoyed the Cajun chicken which was huge and perfectly seasoned and cooked. We also had the Chicken Madiera which was flavorful (but the Cajun chicken was more tender). Both dishes had homemade mashed tators that were tasty. The house salad with blue cheese was fresh and crisp. The poblano soup was really just four stars. The house bread is a singular roll per person and we had to ask - they never brought more (and they were warm and slightly sweet - we would have welcomed more). We both had leftovers and skipped their tempting dessert menu. This is a gem located in quiet Sycamore. There is a private room that holds about 12 that we are going to keep in mind for bday celebrations. We will definitely be back! Hey Nat - please add a vegan option or two! read more

Nat's, what can I say. Finally a menu update!! Country fried chicken biscuit, chicken was dried out and stringy, sausage gravy tasteless, smashed potatoes ok but dry last years new thing. Biscuit too dense, Servers made us feel like we were at a diner. They seemed to have little knowledge of menu and no reply to questions regarding ingredients. Over priced food as far as quality is concerned. But only place like it for miles. Before moving back to the Geneva/St. Charles area I lived in Dekalb for 5 years. During that time, Nat's was in my top 3 restaurants in the area. I have never had a bad meal there and the waitstaff has always been pleasant. I took my Grandparents there for lunch and we decided that day to host my parents 40th anniversary party there. We reserved the whole place for a Sunday. The owner, Natalie, couldn't have been more accommodating and willing to work with whatever we needed. The service was great and the food was delicious. The guests are still raving about what a nice job they did three years later. My favorite entrees are by far are the meatloaf sandwich...the mashed potatoes are to die for, the Pot Roast and the Chicken and Biscuits. I still take a monthly trip out there for a great dinner. read more

I really hate to knock off a star because the food here is fabulous. The lunch prices are extremely reasonable the server we usually have is very polite, and they gladly accommodate a large group. As a former restaurant manager I hate to complain, because you never know if a restaurant was just having an off day, HOWEVER I have experienced or witnessed the same issue on several visits and it's starting to deter me from going back. The woman they usually have hostessing is incredibly lacking in customer service. Today in particular I requested to order a drink at the bar and she told me to take care of it at my table and walked away while I was in the middle of speaking. If that is their policy (which our waitress had to explain instead) I completely understand and will gladly comply, however, I have always believed in treating your customers with the utmost respect even if you cannot accommodate them...explaining why not with a little friendliness goes a long way. read more

Nats is awesome. It has a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Their food never disapoints - the apetizers are all very good - although we tried the fried pickles as a joke with some friends visiting from Europe _ don't recommend those... :) Not everything fried is good... Their Bruschetta is authentic and fresh. The mash potatoes are to die for and the coconut shrimps are just delicious. The staff is pleasant & you don't feel rushed. If you are more that 2 - make reservations. The portions are big - go hungry. The best place in town for sure. read more
