Nat's is a good old tablecloth and nice tableware restaurant, that is down to earth jeans and polos too! Great for a date night or event, or hang and the bar and takeout. Food is primo, with everything from burgers to pasta, fish and steaks. With a full bar and great desserts. The service is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and who doesn't like reasonable...Right! Call if you have a big party

Ask the Community - Nat's On Maple

I have a birthday coming up soon and I want prime rib. Does anybody know where it is good and very affordable around Sycamore/DeKalb?

There is nowhere really good or affordable. But apart from Nat's, you could try Ellwood's, or Rise and Shine. Better off driving to Geneva or Aurora. If you go to Geneva, try Foxfire.

New day, new review…read more We hadn't visited in a while (time marches on) and I had a burning taste for the Dirty Bird. So back we went. The theme is still the same - CHICKEN EVERYWHERE! It's clear, and they love chicken. I mean they REALLY love Chicken! First off, they are FAST. They were very busy - almost every table filled and they kept filling after people left. After we placed our order, our chicken (two Baby Bird meals) came out HOT and FRESH within around 7 minutes. With my appetite, the Baby Bird is the right size, and I have a big appetite for their chicken. Service was great as well - our drinks were checked, and the server was very pleasant. What a great place to visit in Downtown Sycamore! The drink menu is still impressive, and they even have a Whiskey Acres Bourbon-infused barbeque sauce.

The restaurant is small but a decent amount of tables for the space with cute chicken decorations. Our server was so sweet and delightful. We ordered our drinks and answered all our questions. She was helpful with her opinions on items on the menu and helped make it possible to narrow down the difficult choice of what to order. My friend ordered the soup flight(only available in the fall) and I chose fried pickle burger. (I know a burger at a chicken place) the soup flight had three cups of the soups of the day and a four cup of the brisket chili. It also came with a grilled cheese sandwich. Plenty of food! My deep fried pickle burger was a thick patty, crunchy onions and 2 thick deep fried pickle chips with a dill sauce on top. The burger was juicy and the toppings were delicious with a little crunch. The Dirty Chicken will be a stopping point on my return trip to Sycamore!

They have music playing in the background. The room is nice and cold and a great break from the hot outside weather. You may have to bring a sweater if you don't like it too cold. We started with two cups of cream of chicken rice soup and was surprised that this bakery didn't offer rolls with the soup, so I chose to use the toast from the meal I ordered. It worked perfectly. I will add that soup was served barely lukewarm. Not ideal, but we ate it. Next, we ordered a Tuna Melt with fries and a Lincoln Inn Special. We both agreed the food was good. Our server was very nice. She was attentive and assisted when asked. We also ordered the Strawberry Crepes to go. But we couldn't stop there, lol. While at the register, there were cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls, so we grabbed one of each. We enjoyed those a little later while we waited for our child who was at the camp. Both were delicious! I think it's great how the photos of many years are going across the walls and that they support the local college and their sports. Such a nice touch. There was a gentleman who came over and introduced himself and asked if I knew anyone in the photos. I do not recall his name. He was kind and told me about the photos and about how he created one in particular which was rather impressive.

Has a pretty large amount of basic and gourmet toppings to choose from. The prices are higher than the crap chains but it's much better tasting. Always busy. It's a pretty good sign that people like to come here. This is located pretty close to NIU so obviously the name is pretty easy to understand for even the thickest skulled of frat boys and other college students. A few words to get their attention. Have to speak the language of the locals. A crap ton of local beers. It's about $8 a pint. Splurge a bit more for some finely aged whiskey. It's about $18 for a medium pizza. That's kind of a lot but this isn't mass produced chain pizza though. Also you can get it with vegan cheese. This melts like the real stuff. We got one of the Sergeant Pepper pizzas New York style. Filling. This comes with arugula, black olives, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, mozzarella but we got the vegan substitute, mushrooms, and onions. Big enough for a couple. They have even bigger ones that are expensive but are good for parties. Crazy place for tons of good drinking and eating. It's located on West State Street. There's good options for meat eaters as well as vegans and vegetarians.
