This place was recommended by another restaurant owner because I was looking to eat pasta and I'm new to the area. The atmosphere is clean & pleasant. I ordered a calamari & four cheese pasta with chicken along with my dirty martini extra dirty. The bartender/server did an excellent job of making sure my drinks & food was on point. They didn't know it was actually my 40th birthday. I just wanted to have a nice early dinner with no fuss. It turned out really good. I will for bring my friends with me next time. read more

The best meal we've had in a long time. Our waiter Chris was one of the best waiters we've ever had. He was bubbly and polite as soon as we walked in the door all the way through dessert. The little things make things great. Awesome service, people, and food. The Baileys creme brûlée was the cherry on top for our dinner. One of the best creme brûlée's we've had in a long time. We were fortunate to be passing through the charming town of Sycamore, Illinois and spent the evening at the Sycamore RV Resort. The gentleman at the registration desk was so kind and told us that his favorite restaurant was Nat's on Maple so we decided to have dinner there for our one night in Sycamore. Nat's is an upscale establishment with a dramatically romantic atmosphere and fabulous food. The meal started off with some of the best warm yeast rolls I've ever tasted - they almost had a sweetness to them! We both had the cup of soup prior to our entrees and both soups were delicious. I told my husband I could have eaten an entire bowl of soup for dinner -- it was that delicious! My husband had the atlantic salmon with charred vegetable sauce, broccolini and jasmine rice. I went straight for the comfort food section of the menu and had the Shepherd's Pie. There were so many great items on the menu to choose from that it was hard to decide on an entree. We really had an awesome meal! Typically eating out we find that something wasn't perfect in the dinning experience but at Nat's it was perfect from start to finish. Every bite was just that good. So if you are ever in the charming town of Sycamore, please stop at Nat's on Maple for Lunch or Dinner then take a stroll through this charming town! read more

First let me start out by saying we have been regulars at Nats for several years and highly recommending Nat's. Nat also catered our daughter's wedding several years back. The food was fantastic. However, recently we ordered take out including (3) bowls of our favorite Chicken Poblano soup. When we opened our order all three take out bowls were less than 1/4 full. We were shocked and angry how anyone could do that and think it was acceptable. We poured all three containers into one and could not fill one container. We've ordered take out soup many times before and the containers have always been nearly full. I called Nats to complain and admit I was upset. The manager came on with an attitude first asking if we ordered cups or bowls. I advised her bowls, but even if we ordered cups the amount in the containers was absolutely unacceptable especially from a restaurant like Nats The manager stated she wasn't there to see the soup poured, but we could drive back in and she would give us more soup. First, no one should have to oversee take out soup being poured. Second, it was raining hard that evening and the last thing we wanted to do was go back to Nats. Instead of offering us a coupon to pick up at later date, the manager advised us that all she would do was give us more soup. I advised her I would speak with Nat at a later date. Her reply was Nat sold the restaurant. Now we know why this happened. This would have never happened under Nat. We will not be returning. read more

This was our first time here, but we will definitely be back! Everything was delicious and our server was great! I enjoyed the the pork chop, husband had the shepherd's pie. Others enjoyed the salmon and the meatloaf. It was a perfect option for our group as there is a variety of great menu choices. read more

My comments and low rating are directed at the attitude of this restaurant that must come from the owners. The food and service over the last 10 years have been fine. Customer friendly they are not. Their ridiculous reservations policy is infuriating. Though their restaurant is made up almost solely of tables for 4 people, you can't get a reservation for 4 people--only 5 or more. This results in several tables of four sitting empty when you come in, but they will not seat you because they're being reserved for a group of 5 coming in an hour. Make sense to you? They need to realize that they are a very average restaurant in Sycamore iL. No need to cop this kind of attitude. I've been to many highly rated restaurants in Chicago, among other cities, that are far more accommodating to their customers. I'm finished with Nat's. read more

My wife and I hit Nat's on a Friday evening before a concert at NIU. It was 5PM and there was actually a 30-min wait. We decided to sit and the bar and eat and what a good choice. I fully enjoyed the food here and look forward to going back. I ordered the MAMA'S SUNDAY GRAVY pasta. It was very good and the portions were huge. I also enjoyed the dinner rolls as it was a nice break from the usual bread you have at many other restaurants. The staff was very nice and attentive. I appreciated there being different dining rooms as sometimes things can get loud in one large open room with multiple conversations going on. Nat's offers a diverse collection of tastes that are both a treat and a pleasant change from the usual fare in the area. This nondescript restaurant contains a full bar and extensive wine list. While the house Cab lacked a little, Nat's offers martini flights of different kinds (dessert, fruit, etc.). I highly recommend the fruit flight, if that is your taste. A great treat was the Brushetta appetizer, which we were told is a favorite by most regulars. A sure sign of a great restaurant is little touches, such as using very thin cuts of crunchy Italian bread instead of the usual thick cuts of round bread. Fresh tomatoes and fantastic red wine vinegar, which makes my mouth water thinking about as I write this, make this a must pick for dinner. My date ordered the Pesto Chicken pasta. A huge plate of pasta, chicken breasts and vegetables came coated in a perfect blend of basil, garlic and olive oil, more than enough for a second meal the next day. I had the Prime Rib special. I had ordered it medium and it came slightly rare, which is fine for me as I don't mind a bit of pink. Even more interesting was the Chicken Poblano soup, which resembled a chicken and corn chowder with Mexican spices. I'd recommend a cup with your meal, if it's still offered. We had only a slight delay with our waitress, but we were sitting in the high tables of the bar area. It probably wasn't her normal area to watch, but sitting there offered a little seclusion from the fittingly busy restaurant. read more

I was only here once but thats all I needed to know that this place was a gem. My boyfriend and I dined here for our 2nd anniversary and it was wonderful. The food and service was excellent. My cosmopolitans were made so perfect I had to have three to make sure it just wasn't luck. It wasn't the bartender knew how to make a drink. I will say that the place could benefit from a different shade of paint, and different seating. Such great food in a mediocre dining area. However when you eat it should just be about the food and it was wonderful. Will be back. read more

A fantastic little gourmet gem in a small country town! We took the fam to Nat's for my sister's birthday. Called ahead to let them know it would be a party of 11, and they had our table all set and ready upon arrival. Wait staff was super friendly and accommodating to all the needs and changes that can be expected from a large party. Though the amount and quality of delicious food is what really made everyone's day. We had bruschetta and fried pickles for appetizers to share. Choice of soup or salad for all adult dinners, and let me say the chicken poblano soup is a must! If I had known it would be so bold with flavor and creamy warmth, I could have been satisfied with just that. The dinners we chose varied from chicken madera with mashed potatoes and asparagus, pot roast with vegetables, hamburgers, three cheese pasta, fried shrimp and even just a simple salad and baked potato to name a few. Everyone had nothing but good things to say, when they stopped eating to take a breath. Ended it all with a HUG slice of carrot cake with a candle and a song. Trust me the slice was so big we each had a bite as it was passed around the table to share, it was so lick your lips good. read more

This is really a 4 1/2 star place. We started out parking right in front of the place. We needed to feed the meter but didn't have any change. We went in to make some and the lady just gave us a dime which gave us two hours, the max time! The fine if you don't pay??? A buck! It's that kind of small town charm that makes the place likable before you even eat. The food inside was even better. We started out with fried pickles, which I thought were gross but the missus assured me were tasty and exactly what they were supposed to be. For our meals I had the Thai chicken pasta, and the missus had the pot roast. Mine was excellent. Everything was fresh and the peanut sauce had a nice kick to it. I normally don't like pot roast, but this one was delicious. The sauce it was in was fantastic, and the mashed potatoes were homemade, with the lumps and skin in them....really good. Because it's in sycamore, I don't know how often I'll go there but I WILL be back. And if you live within 10 miles of the place, you need to run, not walk to try it. read more

Nat's on Maple is where I always look forward to going to when I am in the area. Serving sizes are generous, and they will give you hot fresh bread if you ask for it at the table before your meal. not everyone knows this. Totally worth it. I am always in debate between ordering the cedar plank salmon and the coconut shrimp. Both top on my list. I went with the coconut shrimp this last visit. You get 8 large coconut breaded shrimp with an in house white sauce that pairs amazing with the shrimp. Don't ask for cocktail sauce, use the sauce they give you, I promise it tastes way better. The entree comes with 2 sides. Mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. You can ask what the vegetable is because it can sometimes change. This time it was fresh green beans. You also get the choice of soup of salad. Usually there are 2 soups you can pick from and 2 salads ( house or Cesar) . I went with house salad. It is dark greens, a few mini tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, and in house made croutons. I got it with honey mustard dressing. They have a large selection of dressings. All so good. You feel full and satisfied after. Food is not rich, very fresh ingredients. Alcoholic drinks are reasonably priced at this quiet, well decorated, small town gem of a restaurant in downtown Sycamore as well. They have small bar area when you first walk in with picture windows to the sidewalk where I like to sit if I am just going for a drink and an appetizer. FYI- go with the bruschetta.... not quite sure how to describe it but I have had bruschetta many places and Nats is top on the list. I have visited here many times, but this is my first review so I have a lot to share. The dinning area is split up in to either 2 or 3 separate rooms. this makes it great for large family gatherings or private events to have your own area. Oh also- if you ever go there during lunch and like something from the menu and then go back again for dinner and it isn't on the dinner menu- you can ask and they will make you your favorite from the lunch menu as a dinner meal. I know at least they have done this before when it comes to their salads. I can not speak for other items but you could always try. Doesn't hurt to ask. 5 star place for sure!! read more

We went for lunch today...and even though the service was a little slow...I still give it 5 stars! The food was wonderful and the portions were huge. The place is nicely decorated and light and cheerful. We had the special pork tenderloin sandwich (a huge portion), a chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries, and I had the mustard herb crusted salmon salad with feta and peppers and a citrus vinaigrette. Nats on Maple catered our wedding this past weekend at Blumen Gardens and did a phenomenal job. Our menu was the garden salad, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken with sun dried tomato cream sauce, and sliced roast beef. The portions were impressive for any meal let alone "wedding food". Usually with chicken you only get a small portion and the chicken was very good size chicken breasts! Sliced roast beef was also a good size. All of the food was so fresh, but I was especially impressed by the freshness of the salad and green beans! Everything was amazing and tasted exactly the same as it did when we had our tasting at the restaurant, which you never know if it will when you are cooking for that many people. All of our guests wanted to know where the food was from and we are still getting compliments! We also had a few guests that decided to stay for dinner that were only going to come for the ceremony and as soon as we asked, Nat was on top of setting a place for them. Stopped in for lunch and had the Steak Frits. The server explained that the cut was a filet. I thought that is was impossible to serve a filet for only $10. I was right I guess. Whatever cut it was in reality was inedible when cooked medium rare. I ate half of a small steak and sent the rest away. The service was good and I suppose that the price and quality were well matched. I would be willing to try again as Wendy's is one of the better rated restaurants in this town, but I will definitely not order steak again. First thing I noticed when I entered was the classy, modern atmosphere. The wait staff were very friendly as well. I got the crab cakes and my girlfriend got the petite filet. They were both excellent. The portion sizes were generous too. Usually when I get crab cakes somewhere they are tiny, but these were quite large and very high quality. The food here is delicious! I have had everything from a burger to salmon and it was always really good. The bruschetta is by far my favorite. I love the quite atmosphere. So many restaurants are so loud anymore that it is refreshing to find one that is quite. It makes for a nice place to have date night so you can actually have a conversation. I have also been here for work lunches with a larger group and they were very accommodating. Nat's is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Sycamore area. read more
