Last time I visited the Caverns feels like ages ago It caused such a great impression that left me wanting me to come back but this time I came back with my own family..I did not regret returning because I felt it was so much more organized and so much more floor space than last time I'd visited. It does help to use Groupons. We saved a lot of money for using Groupon. They advise tourists to dress in active gear and closed sports shoes for the long walk and steep stairs and walk ways that thankfully have handles. Initially it might feel cold when you walk in the cave but soon you find out how warm and humid it is during the walk. For each rock formation there was a different tour guide that knew anything and everything about the rock formation assigned. Very attentive and knowledgeable. No one was left behind. If you have health issues this is not the place for you. If you are an adventurer and love science. You'll love this place. It's a huge learning experience. Worth every penny of the wonderful experience. Your not allowed to take any drinking water or touch anything in thinking so you don't destroy the natural habitat or pollute the caves. The gift shops are way over priced, of course but they have so much creativity to help you spend money in every which way. The food at the restaurant is decently good tasting for the price but still overpriced. When we went they had a zip line adventure and they had a maze. Everything was fun but we just did the maze because my kids are little and not thrilled with dealing with heights. If you don't mind it than all the better, kudos for you. All in all this is an all day adventure if you decide to do everything in the adventure park. You won't regret it and will have a family adventure to talk about for years to come. Truly unforgettable. Be dressed for adventure and prepared to go early, this place can get packed very quickly. THIS PLACE IS INSANE! I've been to so many caves Utah, Kentucky, Nevada, Arizona and I'd say this is my favorite now even over mammoth caves in Kentucky. Yes places like Mammoth caves are larger but this cave has so much character with beautiful natural structures and WATER. I've never seen water like this in a cave before so it was very memorable for me. Our tour guide was awesome and very informative and another plus was the lighting. They way they set it up made it so easy to know what they were talking about in that moment meaning when they were describing a section of the cave it would light up. The caverns were nothing like I ever seen before and it's a pretty cool experience! Our group was fairly small for a tour, about 20 people and our tour guide was great at explaining everything and keeping everyone together! We started the tour by walking down to the caves where it does get humid. Throughout the tour, we went up and down and there was a part in the end with some stairs so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Our guide did a good job of explaining the formations of everything and some of the cool facts about the caverns. It's amazing what a few thousand years can build! If you want to get good photos w/o people in them, I suggest you be in the front of the tour! On a side note, there's some side things to do before and after your tour like a huge obstacle course, some shops, and cafes. When I went, they were already decorated for Christmas which was fun! read more

This is an excellent activity for locals and visitors alike. I did the signature discovery tour and was captivated by the formations as well as the information shared by the wonderful tour guides. Once on-site, you'll enter via the obligatory gift shop and snack bar. Bring your wallet because some of the items available for purchase were quality material. Definitely a step above the usual gift store dust collectors. Note before you go that tickets are cheaper to purchase in advance online. If you are able, select your date and time early. There are ample tours available and they depart every five minutes so despite covid, it was easy to find a workable option. I should also note that covid protocols are being well followed at the caverns. Masks are required and the guides remind everyone to keep distance in between parties. I also liked that hand washing stations were set up at both the entrance and exit of the cavern. Last thing that I really want to mention is to note your fitness level before venturing into the caverns. I personally found the descent and ascents moderate in terms of difficulty but a family with young children was behind me and it appeared to be a struggle for the younger ones. Just make sure you are fully aware that steps and short (but steep) and slippery walkways are involved. Very worthwhile though and I would love to come back soon to try the hidden passages tour. read more

I first visited the Natural Bridge Caverns when I was 11 years old. Now that I'm in my 30's, I've grown more of an appreciation for it! Not much has changed, including the fun little way to remember the caving terms ie: stalagMITE might touch the ceiling and comes up from the ground. We did the Discovery Tour, which costs us about $30.50/person. Depending on the day you come, price varies. We made reservations to secure our time, but if you don't, you can still order tickets at the counter as a walk-in. Following covid trends, masks are required to be worn at all times. If you need a break, they ask you to make sure you are 6 feet away from others and this is done outside of the cavern. Unfortunately, not everyone complies... You get a great walk-through the caverns, nothing too strenuous. Be prepared to sweat due to the humidity, which stays at 100%! read more

We did the new tour that they offer and it was a only four of us. I hadn't been since I was a little girl so it was nice to see how much it had changed and all the improvements. We added on the maze at the end and have so much fun doing that. It took a couple hours to do the tour and maze so perfect on a nice day. They have places to eat, shop and explore. This is an absolute must see/do experience if you're in the area. Walking through the caves is not only a cool experience but also a warm one. Regardless of the temperature outside the cave will be 70° inside. I went in February when it was 30° outside and had to take off my coat and sweatshirt and carry them when waking through the cave. So I definitely suggest going in layers so you can remove something if necessary. You have a guide that does the tour and shares lots of fun facts with you and there is plenty of great photo opportunities. I would totally do this again next time I go back to Texas. read more

Booked this tour (discovery tour under $30 adult admission) on a whim and I'm soooo glad that I checked it out. It's Texas! What a great little gem in San Antonio. If you're looking for an easy day trip -- this is it. Solo or in groups, this place is a fun time for everyone. They take people during the selected times so it's intimidate with 25-30 plus your own guide who explains all the cool history, rock formations, science and questions in general. Be prepared to go on the tour for about an hour and some. It's not hard to walk but I would recommend a small side bag or backpack and some tressed or hiking shoes. :) Staff was super helpful and the grounds were really well kept. There's a food stand, snacks and gift shop too in case you get hungry or need some souvenirs. Tip: After you're done, downtown Riverwalk is not too far away for an nice dinner or walk around the river. Will definitely visit again. read more

The cave itself was quite incredible - truly the most awe-inspiring I've seen. The "tour", however, left a great deal to be desired. There are 10 or so "tour guides" stationed along the 3/4 mile trail, and their apparent purpose is to herd enormous groups (55 people at a time, departing every 7 minutes!) quickly through, rather than provide any educational information about the cave. Cave = 5 stars, "tour" = 1. Really beautiful if you're in the area and want to throw down $30, but don't expect to leave with any new knowledge about the wonder you've just rushed through. read more

I had an absolute blast touring the caverns. Even my kids (5 and 3) who were at first scared to death about going into a dark, scary cave, came out with huge grins on their faces talking about how much fun they had along the tour. The cave was much more massive than I had originally expected it to be. It's tough to put into words just how massive it is and how minuscule you feel walking through it. It's shocking that something so big wasn't discovered by man until fairly recently. But boy am I glad they did. You just find yourself soaking in the raw beauty of nature. It's amazing what beauty can come from being left alone for hundreds of thousands of years. And I'm so glad they took steps to both share the beauty with others while also taking steps to preserve it. The tour is long. And it's a lot or walking on steep and often wet ground. If you're not in the best of shape, have issues with darkness/tight spaces, or other such issues, the tour unfortunately might not be for you. Please keep that in mind. I wouldn't call it an easy walk. But it's definitely something you will be glad you 'tackled' if you go through with it. Not to mention the second you leave there's a snack shack with waters, other drinks, and plenty of sweets to 'congratulate' you for getting through the hike. My previously mentioned kids absolutely loved that part of the tour. The guide we had was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Guests were throwing a wide range of questions at her and she was able to answer them all quickly and concisely. All with a smile on her face. You could tell she genuinely loved her job and the caves. It's always a blessing when you get a guide like that for any sort of tour. Hopefully all the other guides follow in her footsteps. If I am ever in the area, I would absolutely go back to the caverns. It's a place I think you couldn't easily get sick of. If it wasn't for the tour, I could easily see myself spending hours just soaking in any given room along the route. It's just that majestic. read more

We were pretty disappointed with the Natural Caverns experience. The caverns, priced at $25+ per person, fell short of value, and I believe a more reasonable cost would be around $10. The maze, initially deemed at $5.99, should ideally be only $2. The obstacle course, despite its pricing, lacked flexibility as we were denied re-entry after just 45 minutes, limiting the enjoyment for our kids who wanted to revisit after a quick lunch. The food preparation time exceeded 30 minutes, which is unacceptable, and the portion sizes of items like the Philly cheese sandwich did not justify their prices. Overall, the high costs coupled with the various shortcomings make it challenging to recommend a visit to Natural Caverns. We were a family of four and only kids took the ropes. We didnt even buy anything at the shops but the entire expense was $200 that vanished in 2-hours. NOT RECOMMENDED? read more

No second thought that this is must visit caverns to visit. Great organized tours running every hour or so. Guided tour takes 75 mins. Decent amount of walk but great views of the cavern formations inside. You are not allowed to touch anything which is illegal by law too. This is done to save caverns from getting contaminated. Pathways are clear and easy to walk through with the side railing running across the tour. There are stairs couple of places but nothing too bad. Great knowledgeable tour with great views inside. It gets humid inside as you progress on the tour. It's nature wonder and so don't miss it at any cost. Commercial Caverns would be a better name. We have been to SEVERAL caves/caverns in multiple areas of the U.S. Our take on the Caverns themselves at Natural Bridge Caverns were wonderful and we truly enjoyed seeing them. Everything else about the visit left much to be desired. The walkways and paths into and out of the caverns are very nice, be mindful that they're quite steep if you plan to tour. I'm not knocking them for this, just awareness if you plan to visit. The tour itself consists of multiple "tour guides" staged throughout the caverns to elaborate on that portion. Wasn't a bad idea compared to having a single tour guide IMO, BUT...... THEY NEED TO WAIT ON THE ENTIRE GROUP AND SLOW DOWN WHEN TALKING!!!!!!!! We were towards the latter part of our group, and I honestly don't think I could tell you three sentences from the guides. Again, we really enjoyed the Caverns themselves....everything else was a complete turnoff for us. Overall takeaway is that I felt like I was in a tourist trap with prices comparable to major theme parks. Seemed like we were rushed through so the next herd could get in, get out, and make way for the others. For a family of three to do the combo tour and ropes course it would be nearly $300 dollars........ We WON'T be back! Too many other attractions in the area to go broke here! read more

It's really quite a neat experience. Absolutely beautiful. I've done the traditional tour and have enjoyed it 3 times or so over the course of my time in San Antonio. They now have a new tour that is apparently a bit more stairs. It came out to about $70 for two, which is a bit expensive but I felt the tour was very interesting, informative, and over all better than a movie. Staff is mostly young people, but everyone was nice. There is some beer and wine available there too, but I'm not paying $9 for a shiner. Just enjoy the intoxicating beauty of the cave and the Texas hill country. A word to the wise, it is a bit of a physical challenge at parts of the tour, but plenty of breaks are provided. read more

Okay this place is wild,Texas has some beautiful caverns and this one is definitely at the top. They have 2 caves to go through which offer a great insight to history with an incredible view. The incline going up on one of the caves is kinda tough but you can take it at your own pace which is what I loved the most. This was my second time going so I was able to stay back and really take in all the views without a ton of people (the earlier the better to avoid crowds). They have an obstacle rope course with zip rails for adults and kids which is super fun and will be even funnel in the fall. They have 2 cafes and two gift shops, live music on the weekends, and you can also buy a sack of sand to mine for crystals! Great place for the family. read more

*Full disclosure. My Wife and I were in San Antonio because her company was hosting an employee recognition event and paid for numerous things throughout the week. As part of the package, we were able to select from a list of local tours we could take on the companies dime and we decided to go with Natural Bridge Caverns. With that out of the way, we mostly enjoyed the tour. In all honesty, had I paid for this out of my own pocket, this would be a three star review. However, since it was free, it gets four stars since you can't really complain about free. The property was beautiful. Lots of greenery and flora spread throughout and there's plenty more to do other than the cave tour. Since I was apart of an organized tour I couldn't stray away and check out the rest of the property, but I did notice they had a zip line. We were lead down to the Natural Bridge entrance area of the cave where were given a safety spiel by our Tour Guide and were even threatened with a few nights in jail if we intentionally damaged any part of the cave. While I agree that people who do that should very well go to jail, I think there could've been a more customer friendly way to put it on the Guide's part. Right out of the gate you get hit with the typical tourist trap of souvenir photos. As usual, you don't have a choice in the matter. You're held up in a line until everyone gets their picture taken and then held at the other end until they're done. Yawn. At long last, the tour begins and we make our way nearly 200 feet below the surface and experience 99% humidity! It was insane how quickly my shirt became drenched. I couldn't believe my camera never fogged up. This is where my disdain for organized tours comes in. Usually, I like to go about and explore places alone and at my own pace. I feel that you come to better appreciate places like this that way. However, you won't get that here. You're at the mercy of the Tour Guide and his/her speed. Often times, the Guide would not wait for everyone to get to each room before talking about it and since I was in the back of the group, I didn't hear half of what he said. On top of that, the Tour Guide from the group behind us was going much faster than ours and thus, they continuously caught up with us and forced our Guide to speed up what he was saying and quickly move on to the next room. Don't get me wrong, being able to go down there and check out the cave was an awesome experience for my Wife and I. We were blown away by the beauty of it all and both agreed like it resembled an art project and was designed this way. Mother Nature is a wondrous force. However, the rushed experience of the tour itself is why this would have been a three star review had I paid for this. Our Guide was extremely knowledgeable and you could tell he loved doing this, but at the same time I feel like they could've done a better job at spacing the tours out so everyone could properly enjoy the experience instead cramming in as many tours as they could. Some tips if you plan on coming here: 1) Bring a second shirt to change into after your done. 2) Wear sturdy shoes/boots with good ankle support and grip. You'll need it. 3) If you are claustrophobic, you might want to pass. Some of the walk ways are tight. 4) While there's plenty of light, there's still spots where it's hard to see. So watch your footing. 5) You will descend almost 200 feet and then go right back up 200 feet. There is NO elevator. Be honest with yourself and your physical capabilities. 6) Bring your camera. 7) The cave is NOT handicap accessible. There's no way you'll get a wheelchair through it. 8) Above all else, DO NOT touch anything in the cave (other than the handrails, of course). The oils in our skin could cause parts of the cave to rot and deteriorate over time. We want to preserve natural wonders like this for future generations. Remember, take nothing but pictures, leave no trace. read more

My first time ever visiting this cavern was in 2017 and I've been obsessed ever since!!! I've been here at least once a year. When ever I find out there is a cavern near by you better believe I'm going!! I highly recommend this place! They have cool gift shops with all kinds of trinkets and the tour guides are very knowledgeable. Great place to take your kids! They have mazes, zip lining and all kinds of fun activities. This place is wheelchair accessible but the caverns are not and are a pretty strenuous workout. The ground is wet and slippery in some places so it's best to wear closed toe shoes. Such a great experience here from the tour host to the post beer right outside the exit of the caverns. Definitely be warned if you're claustrophobic or have issues hiking up hills as there are some tighter spots and some good uphill but for kids or healthy active adults it's a non issue. The temperature inside was warmer than outside the caverns and 99% humidity as well but it was neat as we entered each of the cavern rooms to know the history of them and just appreciate the gravity of the formations that happened over thousands of years. My wife and I were on vacation in San Antonio and took a twenty minute ride out of town to these really cool caves. We were a few minutes late for the 9 AM tour, so we perused the gift shop and made our way to the meeting spot for the beginning of the tour. Our tour guide was a nice lady that led us to the opening of the cave and when you enter, you immediately notice that it is about 70 degrees and super humid inside. They take your picture as you enter and there about 5 large rooms that you see that are full of light. The stalagmites and stalactites are truly a sight to behold. I am afraid of heights and there was only one portion where I got a little uneasy, but there are lots of good railings. There are some uphill climbs that some people may find tough, but it is worth it. There are some other attractions, like ziplines and mazes you can try here, but we didn't do any of them. This is a totally must see if you have a car and half a day in San Antonio. read more

The caverns are really cool. Our tour guide did an excellent job of explaining how the caves were discovered and what we were seeing while in them. He gave us ample time for photos as well. At one point we got to sit in total, complete, cave darkness for a few minutes. It was so peaceful, quiet, and awesome! There were some steep areas and lots of steps. Nothing too strenuous but definitely not for those who need flat ground or are afraid of the dark. After the cave, my son wanted to try the mining. He chose to mine for fossils (options included fossils, arrowheads, gems, and more). We purchased his back and went out to the water area to mine. This place is phenomenal! Such a great, family-friendly place to roam around and explore. We came early in the morning to avoid the crowds and did the Discovery and Hidden Passage combo tours. The history of the caverns are truly remarkable. We learned so much and saw a lot in such a short amount of time. Our guide was super knowledgeable and kept the tour running smooth the entire time. This is a must see. Martha was a great tour guide of the caverns. She was very patient with our group. Pictures do not do it justice. The caverns are amazing. Please wear rubber soled shoes because the ground is wet and slippery. Be prepared to walk a little distance and at times you will hike up. There is so much to do with younger kids. The maze, the wildlife ranch and twisted trails are available at a cost for family fun. There are a few other cave tour offers that are a little more hands on if you choose. I like the caverns! It's so beautiful inside and it's pretty educational. I'll admit I was worried about a few things. The website said it can be 70 degrees in there. So as someone that gets cold easily I brought a jacket. If you're like me, it wasn't necessary especially with all of the walking. It's wet inside so I was worried I might slip or really need a handrail. I'd say it's not that wet so you should be fine as long as you're wearing proper shoes. You can get wet though as water is constantly dropping down on you in some places. And last we were told it's a pretty strenuous walk inside. Going in isn't bad at all. But getting out is a hike up. Which isn't too bad. Our tour guide was super nice and answered any questions we had. When I say it's beautiful in there I mean it. It's a must see. It's also I nice way to spend the summer to beat the heat. There's tons of parking there too. I would highly recommend going in the morning. read more

A fun place for family and friends. They have a cavern to explore and an outdoor zipline. They have a gift shop and plenty of restrooms. The zip line is a family fav! You can go as high as you like plenty of areas to turn around. We had an hour of climb time. The equipment feels very safe. The staff appeared to be well trained.
