We decided to try the Natural Cafe in Goleta today. Over the years we have tried several locations. This location was obviously newer and looked great inside. The staff as usual were very friendly. We both ordered the veggie stir fry with tofu. It didn't disappoint. We both had tea from the self serve area. This is a great feature. I also ordered a lemon bar which tasted great. Might only negative comment is the fact that you have vegan entrees but no vegan desserts. Other than that everything was outstanding. read more

As the week slows down a bit from work a few of us on staff decided to have a small Friendsgiving at none other than Natural Cafe in Goleta! For those looking for a healthier food choice and plenty of non-meat options then I highly recommend checking this place out for sure! It was a a cold and crisp evening and we walked into Natural Cafe with a decent appetite for their delicious food! If you have never tried Natural Cafe then you are in for a treat! They have a wide selection of great food from pasta to enchiladas there is a wonderful variety of dishes to try out. They are all yummy and there is always something for everyone in your party to enjoy. I decided on one of my personal favorites the Gobbler Burger. Since we are so close to turkey day, a turkey burger sounded right for the season! The burger was fantastic and cooked very well! It was juicy, full of flavor and had the perfect balance of meat and veggies on the burger itself! It came with blue corn tortilla chips and salsa and it was the perfect combo to end my Wednesday with my staff. My friends ended up getting the pesto pasta with a side salad and garlic bread which looked phenomenal and tasted delicious! The other got the power bowl and for those who love their chicken and blue cheese that dish is all yours and was incredible! Overall we had a fantastic experience and so grateful to had some time together with amazing food to pair! Weird that I have to change a review I'd never thought I'd have to...for a staple place in fact. The most recent times I've been, the portions have decreased extremely. When I asked the manager why the portion was smaller, he bluntly stated "oh my guys have been actually giving TOO MUCH so I'm teaching them now that I'm here to oversee." Ok? ... Granted perhaps they are cracking down since the one on state street went out of business but really? Their nachos that I get a few times a month as a special treat was basically toppings on a few chips. It was kind of a sad excuse. Not only that, but I've tried ordering tofu once and they "ran out". Awful. Salad severely underdressed . Avocado was old and had that funny flavor-not edible. Chicken served in very large pieces, needed to be cut. Ordered sandwich without sprouts. Before the server set the sandwich down, he noticed there were sprouts. The kitchen staff tried to remove them but there were still sprouts remaining. That is probably okay for people who don't like sprouts, but having an allergy to sprouts, this is not okay. The toasted bread was burnt and inedible. Very disappointed. read more

Stopped here while driving through and it was nice to have healthy options on a small road trip! The fish tacos are pretty good, they go a little heavy on the cabbage, but not an issue. The Baja burrito is also good, I'd probably get that over the tacos next time. They also have a good selection of pastries/desserts. A lot of nice options for vegan people and for those who don't want to make their life too complicated. The team is so flexible that ready to take even the special order following the instructions. I am a Santa Barbara Native and this is my favourite restaurant in all of Santa Barbara County. They have many healthy options, my favourite being their Mount Fuji Stir Fry, choosing to opt for no rice and more veggies. Their Portobella Mushroom sandwich is well made, flavourful, and juicy. When choosing something more carb-loaded such as their Pasta Primavera, the Natural Cafe makes sure their restaurant goers are getting necessary nutrients with a side salad addition to this menu item. read more

I got the vegan chipotle chicken burger as a wrap, and paid to have onions, sautéed mushrooms and spinach added, but they were SUPER skimpy on the mushrooms and spinach. They only added like 3 pieces of spinach and 4 slices of mushrooms. I also substituted black beans and rice for the chips that would usually come with it, but it had Literally no flavor. The beans and rice were not cooked with any spices or flavoring of any sort, so it was super bland. It was nice that they had short-grain brown rice and vegan mayo, though, so it was not all bad. I've been to their location on State Street a couple of times, but decided to leave a review for this location since I've been here during two graduation days and have stronger memories here. On this visit, I tried the pasta primavera as well as some hummus, their chicken teriyaki sandwich, and mama mia pizza (because the fun of eating with friends is that you get to try their food). From my previous visit, I think my favorite is their pesto pasta. Pasta primavera ($12.39): Decent, but very light in flavor. Not surprising, but not an option I would order again. Hummus with pita ($6.69): This came with cucumbers and grape tomatoes and was very filling. There was a huge amount of hummus. Chicken teriyaki sandwich ($10.79): Heavy on the chicken teriyaki sauce. Not my favorite, but my friend really liked it. Mama mia pizza ($11.99): Would totally order this again because their pesto sauce is delicious. read more

They just miss. Good Menu, bad execution. Really bad. The Turkey burger is so so. The bun is way too big. They don't know how to grill onions, and the meat is tasteless. Fries seem to be frozen. The salads are so-so. Don't order them To go unless you want to risk them swimming in oil. The grilled chicken on the salads is pretty good. But be prepared for at least a few chunks of gristle. It makes me so sad to write this review because natural café is actually one of my favorite restaurants. Today when I entered natural café I went in with my service dog and was told by an employee that only service dogs were able to enter the building. I proceeded to tell her that my dog was a service dog and I was laughed at. After a second I gathered myself and told them that it's not nice to be laughed at or to assume that someone is lying. I was then interrupted by who I assume was the manager and told me that service dogs must wear a vest. I calmly and nicely told him that this is incorrect to no acknowledgement. This left me very embarrassed and distraught. Under the ADA it states "The ADA does not require service animals to wear a vest, ID tag, or specific harness." This helps protect people with disabilities from needing to publicly address what some may be embarrassed about and consider a very private matter. After getting a refund I left feeling upset and disrespected. I hope management there can review these laws and acts to help better educate the staff and themselves. Just because someone isn't visibly disabled doesn't mean you get to laugh at or mock them. read more

Natural Cafe has become a big part of my transition to healthier eating. They have a lot of great flavor packed combinations that are actually really good for you. They also consistently switch up their lunch and dinner specials, which I appreciate, because trying various foods is one of my favorite pastimes. Their lemon herb dressing is amazing! I usually ask for a side of it and dip the grilled vegetables in it. Their salmon is also consistently cooked extremely well, and we Stan a consistent kitchen. Feedback wise, tho well cooked, the Salmon/Grilled chicken could use some seasoning! Additionally, I ordered a special a few nights back and asked to sub steamed vegetables for grilled without issue. They just charged for the difference which was cool and expected! I went back the next day, ordered the same meal (the salmon special they had) and asked to sub the steamed for grilled vegetables again but this time they told me they couldn't do that. There is a commonality between all the dishes: you won't have to suffer from a toxic food coma because the food I've experimented with so far, is served fresh and the food is pretty clean. (Little grease, no deep fried stuff, not overly salted, etc.) The service is also very quick and the portions are quite generous. The prices are average for a casual, California restaurant. If I were to describe classic California cuisine to an International friend, I would probably refer to Natural Cafe to describe the kind of various and healthy food that Californians gravitate towards. A nightmare for gluten intolerant individuals. I made the mistake of trusting this place, because they advertise their gluten free options on Google, and I unfortunately assumed they were an honest business. I made it very clear to the woman at the front desk that I have a severe gluten allergy, and either she did not pass that message to the kitchen, or the chefs simply don't care about the safety of their meals. Either way, the attached picture is what happens to me when I'm poisoned with gluten. I know for a fact it was this restaurant that made me sick, as it was the only place I was foolish enough to eat out at in weeks. I detest businesses that advertise gluten free options with no intention of fulfilling their promises. I hope the employees see this review and see my mutilated hands, and feel at least a twinge of guilt for shirking their responsibilities and causing me and likely countless others so much pain. First time I've ever written a negative review. My favorite salad came from this restaurant, until I found a living frog in my meal. I am not joking about this. After I filmed the incident, I safely gathered the frog and took it down to the Natural Cafe location in the Camino Real Shopping Center. I wanted to help protect the business so I spoke to the manager on duty outside so the patrons would not overhear and get grossed out. I was given the contact information for the higher ups so I could notify and send them the video of the frog coming out of the salad. They held zero accountability and did not believe that it could have came from their kitchen. They even went in depth with the multi-step process they take when putting a salad together. They offered no free meal or any compensation other than refunding the order for that meal. I asked to have the owner email me which he never did. I even requested to have an in person talk with him with witnesses so a resolution could be figured out. This never happened either. After they ended up ghosting me I contacted the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and reported them. The Natural Cafe also provided fictitious statements to the Better Business Bureau when they lied saying that they had offered me a new complimentary entrée. This establishment holds no accountability for their behavior in addressing a matter which is rather a serious health concern. The frog was in the salad for well over an hour before I even opened the salad box since it was a take-home order. I had already taken several bites of the salad before discovering the frog, and when I did, I already had a mouth full of food that I quickly spit out into the kitchen sink. There was a witness in the house as well who saw the frog once I brought it too their attention. This has never happened before where I was so disgusted that I had to spit out my food. Please do yourself a favor and keep this in mind when thinking about wanting to give business to this place when they have shown and proven that they do not take an important matter like this seriously. It's one thing finding a bug in your food, but when you find a living, breathing frog in your salad that had been in there for over an hour, you start to wonder what kind of secretions, urine, fecal matter, and bacteria that may have been present with the frog being there in the covered to-go box.
